    As our English professor have said: "Just do the work". As long as you're doing the work, you're then making progress. And making progress and not being "stagnant" is very very good. But the best thing is making more and more progress with the same amount of time and effort; and smart effort is always best.

    My brother just had open heart surgery, going on 3 wks ago... aortic valve replacement.... and to think that the surgeon was ONCE a young medical student, just starting out, with so much ahead of him..... It is just so awesome to me to think about how much one has to learn and memorize before they even get to do anything in an actual hospital setting.... and that is before they even start on specialized training for the area of medicine that each soon-to-be doctor plans to go into after their internship....

    BEST WISHES and GOD BLESS to EVERYONE going to med school as well as nurses' training..... I totally admire and respect you all for your commitment and desire to undertake this training that will go towards serving humanity. You all have a special calling and gift, I believe... Not everyone can do this, emotionally or psychologically..... That has to be there from the start.... One can only begin to imagine.....and so I wish you all the best!!!

      +Aaron Baker The Weber test is a quick screening test for hearing. It can detect unilateral (one-sided)conductive hearing loss (middle ear hearing loss) and unilateral sensorineural hearing loss (inner ear hearing loss). The test is named after Ernst Heinrich Weber (1795-1878). Conductive hearing ability is mediated by the middle ear composed of the ossicles: incus, malleus, stapes. Sensorineural hearing ability is mediated by the inner ear composed of the cochlea with its internal basilar membrane and attached cochlear nerve (cranial nerve VIII). The outer ear consisting of the pinna, ear canal, and ear drum or tympanic membrane transmits sounds to the middle ear but does not contribute to the conduction or sensorineural hearing ability save for hearing transmissions limited by cerumen impaction (wax collection in the ear canal).

      TBH yeah that's how it is. I'm a paramedic and enjoy acute medicine so I'm not looking forward to the 4 years of medical school because of the foundation you have to build your foundation and are basically dealing 95% with chronic patients. Medical school definitely isn't the end vision for me- it's just another stepping stone. As for this college though, I think it's GA residents only, so it sucks (not to mention the more rural life isn't for everyone).

    @shawnwwe If you aspire to be a doctor for the money or wht invest into being an actor or businessman. Way easier and more profitable. If you are doing it to please someone else then that is simply pathetic. Even for those who are doing it by heart Medical School at times could be absolutely horrible.

    • @GreyWolfMantis
      @GreyWolfMantis 9 років тому

      +mrPregabalin Being an Actor is a very unstable profession same with business as well. But I do agree that going into doctor for the money is bad

      Yeah I’ll agree that it isn’t the most profitable career choice from a pragmatic standpoint. Still, it isn’t easy and in demand, hence I 110% support the 6 figure annual salary at the end as compensation.

    Did you not see where I said an ATTENDING surgeon !? Yes , starting out as a first year intern only makes approx $42,000 USD ,Residents make approx $59,000 USD ,but when you become an attending surgeon your salary jumps to approx $282,000 . That is what i was trying to convey .

  • @BlackKnight_217
    @BlackKnight_217 11 років тому

    If it's this easy, then why isn't everyone doing it ?? I also read your other comment apologizing to that person, tell me how many med-students become full-fledged surgeons once they graduate and start making a couple of millions a year ??

  • @TnTitan97
    @TnTitan97 11 років тому

    I was directing this statement more towards a surgeon . An attending surgeon's average salary is $224,000 and that is what he/she is paid for pretty much coming to work everyday . You make more based on the amount of surgeries you perform . My close friend is an Orthopediac Surgeon and makes around 2.5 million a year . I did not mean to come off as ignorant , but it is my mistake I should have clarified .

  • @PolyPsych
    @PolyPsych 11 років тому

    Well I'll have around $400k in student loan debt when I'm finally done with residency 5 years after graduating med school. Only then will I be able to start making payments (9 years after starting). Tell me how a family doctor making $120k a year can support his/her family and pay off $400k in debt in two years? Even if I live modestly on $60k a year, after taxes I'm only able to put $20k a year towards my loans. Since interest will still be piling up it will take 15-20 years to pay it off.

  • @TnTitan97
    @TnTitan97 11 років тому

    i am in no way claiming that med students are spoiled rich kids , but once you become a doctor you can pay the student loans off in less than 2 years .

    So it's worth putting people's life in jeopardy just to be able to say we have a sprinkling of inept Blacks in the system who were passed by what amounts to "social promotion"? Before Affirmative Action, no one complained about having a "robot' as his or her doctor. Your analogy is not founded in reality. Why not embrace reality and out of your fantasy where everyone's equal? No amount of social engineering will make up for racial intellectual disparities; and it has disastrous consequences.

  • @ElegantSkies
    @ElegantSkies 11 років тому

    If they accepted a bunch of students with the same grades and MCAT scores, you'd just have a school full of robots, no one wants that. It has nothing to do with race. You're fucking ignorant.
