This is my first impressions of the Poseidon Redwood bike, and my experience with putting it together.
How do you fix a toaster lever not staying down. Easy Fix. Smeg Toaster
Переглядів 45 тис.Рік тому
This video walks you through a simple fix for your toaster (will work for many brands) not just Smeg. If you're toaster lever won't stay down, here's a simple guide to fix it. Enjoy your toast!
I had to write a comment to say thank you! I had just received word back from SMEG that my toaster was out of warranty (got it in 2018) and that they didn't have anyone to even take a look at it. So I decided to search and see if anyone else was having this latching issue. I followed your directions and boom, my toaster is fine. There was so much debris in there from the bread over the years, I had NO idea!!!! Thank you for posting this solve! You saved my $250 toaster! <3
THANK YOU! you saved my Smeg. I couldn't get the little ball to detach from the lever but was able to open it up enough to clean it and - voila! So cool
This is awesome I’ve spent my whole life on mountain bikes as well and am now considering this to get into bikepacking it seems perfect I’ve been looking at the flatbar though
Glad I found this video and thanks for sharing it. They’re have a summer sale so I just ordered a Redwood for $699. I’m shorter with a short inseam, right around your size, and went with the XS but started worrying it might be too short from seat to cockpit. This video put me a little at ease with size selection.
Thank you for your positivity. I've bought half a dozen direct to consumer bikes and only once did I have any issues like what you are talking about. There are many sub-one thousand gravel bikes in the market today. It is important to read the reviews keeping in mind the importance of customer service beyond the sale. Good luck with your bike.
I bought the redwood about 2 years ago. Talked to the guy there, and he recommended a large for me. I am 5'10" with a 30" inseam and about 240 pounds. In retrospect, I wished I had gotten a medium. Other than that, it is a rowdy GB.
I ended up throwing out my toaster. It smelled awful when I pulled down the lever to make toast, and I thought there must be a huge chunk of old burnt toast inside so I unplugged it to dislodge the bit of toast and discovered it wasn’t toast at all, but a small plastic hook which had been stuck to the wall near the toaster and it must have fallen in and got welded /melted onto the wire elements. It wouldn’t come off and every time I tried I realised the wires were all breaking up, so wouldn’t have been safe to use anymore. The moral is-keep the toaster away from anything that could fall into it and melt!
Great - just fixed it Thanks for the warnings on the way and I remembered to replug the mother board. Thank you !
Thanks so much. I didn’t even need to dismantle mine. Just gave it a really good clean and it did the trick.
I have a baby and a toddler so don’t have time to go through this now. As a last resort, I took it into the compost bin and shook out all the crumbs brought it back in and now it’s working. So just give it a try if you don’t have time to do the permanent fix!
Just got mine in the mail today, I have the same knowledge as your video. Awesome looking bike
I saw 3 videos and r first I thought your video wouldn't work, but I was wrong. Your simple yet straightforward approach was the best. The crumbs affect the contact with the button sensor like you said. I used an inflator for blowing air and took away all the crumbs. Toaster works like new again. Thank you so much, you're a blessing!
Great video. Once I saw that the problem was likely crumbs in the catch mechanism, I just skipped taking it apart and just flipped the whole thing over, hit it a couple of times and shook out all the crumbs. Bam; fixed it.
Thank you so much! Was just at my neighbors for dinner when she told me she was so upset about her Smeg not working. I looked up how to fix and and found your video. Worked brilliantly!
You are awesome! I thought I was going to have my first Eggo-less breakfast in two years, but you saved the day! Thank you! 🤙
This worked perfectly for me. Thanks for saving me the need to buy a replacement!
Thank you so very much, you made my day!!! :-)
This was super helpful and sorted out the problem for me. Thank you for posting this! I couldn’t get the ball off but managed to still clean the magnet without removing the cover fully.
You didn't help me at all
Fortunately the assembly of my Redwood went perfectly. No issues other than having to adjust the front brake pads, they were rubbing on one side of the disc. Easy fix. Be sure an watch the assembly video and it will go smoothly. ua-cam.com/video/xcivWk1a7oE/v-deo.html
Thank you! I would not have figured this out, and you saved out toaster!
Thanks for the video! I just ordered a Redwood after over a year of contemplating it. Looking forward to putting it through some real tests! Subscribed.
Thank you for this super easy tutorial - you saved the day and my SMEG toaster! I was super proud of myself, dismantling, cleaning and reassembling using my power drill! Bloody brilliant!
Spot on 👍. Great video, toaster fixed.
That's just stupid. No one should ever have to unscrew a toaster to get the slot thing to stay down. Also no warning to unplug it before you start sticking a knife into it. Stupid stupid stupid video
Great video and suggestions. Just fixed our SMEG toaster and the family is excited to have it working again. Thank you!
I really didn't think this would work. I have a lux toaster and cleared out all the crumbs and it wouldn't stay down. So I found your video and got a toothbrush and scrubbed the sensor and it works! Brilliant and thanks.
The little ball does not unscrew. It is stuck fast and no matter what you do you cannot undo it. Tried everything. It's glued on.
Hi John, we had the same problem and so we used précision pliers and it worked
@@leodem715 mine unscrewed easily! Hope it worked out!!
Thank you! I now have a working Smeg Toaster! Saved me buying new - fabulous!
That appears to be a brand new toaster. No indication that it wasn't working. You don't just dust the components.
I can't connect back the wire, any tips? thanks
Thank you for this video. It worked!!!!
Thank you!!!! As I was working with my toaster and it then like magic worked!!!!! I thought it was just like everything else, when it doesn’t work, unplug it, wait, plug it back in nd presto it reboots! So you can imagine as I got it all back together, screwed in all those screws… cleaned it outside, plugged it in and darn if the stupid thing didn’t work again. 🙁 So I am about to un-screw 12 screws, unplug the mother board, plug it back in, re-screw all those little screws. If it works I will know that you are a genius, if it doesn’t work then it’s just my bleepity bleep toaster and you are still a genius! 😁 Thank you for the video in all cases. 💕
This is so helpful. Thank you!
Your tutorial worked! You rock- thanks for making this!
This is so delightful
Thanks Matt!
Looks pretty great, but no longer on my short list, regardless of entry-level price. Too many quality control issues.😢
Thanks for your feedback. That’s sad to hear about the quality control issues. Hopefully they can get it sorted out. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Are you working with Starbucks?
Me too! Thank you!!!
Thank you for the very useful fix. I have the same issue with Smeg toaster. After removing the case, I followed all the steps from brushing to cleaning all around the toaster body and the lever contacts then it worked while it was out of its case, but it didn't work when I put the case back on, I tried three times, the lever still does not engage when the case is on. Any idea what could be the problem. Thank you again.
Very helpful, thanks!
Had same exact toaster with same exact problem. Awesome video helped make it an easy and quicker fix!! Used brush and electrical contact spray at the release mechanism area. Also, stubborn green gound wire can be removed carefully with a needle-nose pliers grabbing back of connector. Thanks Again
We're so glad to hear it helped you! Thanks for watching it!!!
Nice brother I own 2
That’s awesome. Which models do you own?
American appliances are so bulky, my Princess quadruple is literally the size of that Smegs inner part ha ha! Not to get me started on the control knobs on american ovens;-)
Greetings from South Australia. Worked perfectly - exactly as described. Thank you
We’re a tiny little guy
😂
Step one would be to un plug the toaster lol
Nope did not work....
I got a chrome Smeg and 3 years exactly later the button does not stay down and I was prepared to go and buy a new one. God bless you for showing us how to repair it.
It's clear where Poseidon saves money is by not having the bike assembled as much as most bikes you get out of the box. Their bikes are likely packaged overseas and they just ship you the bike without ever opening the box. I ordered a Norton and it was way more disassembled than any other bike I have ever gotten for my UA-cam channel or otherwise. Thankfully I have a full shop in my basement and a lot of bike shop and industry experience. But I would not suggest someone who isn't a current or former bike mechanic assemble one of these. So you might save money ordering consumer direct, but you certainly will have to pay more to get the bike properly together and safely working, which is extremely important. Poseidon isn't on my list for consumer-direct bikes. You can have a much better experience using State or Canyon, to be honest. The Norton assembly and reviews are on my channel if you are interested in more info.
Thank you so much for sharing your insights! Maybe my next bike will be one of the brands you’ve suggested. Since this video, my garage has been transformed into a bike shop and I’ve learned a lot about working on bikes. I’m by no means an expert but I’ve come along way since I posted this video. Thanks again for watching and commenting.
