Rewatched this episode today as I've been watching each video in sequence, over breakfast as a great way to start my day. Freaking awesome Chris! So moving! "The essay question at the end of the final exam I didn't study for." Bwa ha ha ha. As a previous test proctor, I laughed out loud at that one. Great metaphor for this ride. Each day was a new hard and a new test, and you passed beautifully! Thank you for sharing yourself so wonderfully to the world with this adventure and series! Life's an Adventure, So Ride On.

ROWDY!?! Was that a trail text message to who I think it was? ❤ If so, he never saw it because I think we took a different way into Silver City based on the video of your day into Silver our day looked different. Maybe a GDMBR/TOUR DIVIDE difference? Or maybe an alternate? Anyway….im so exited to watch your last day!

Oh Jon & Misha were awesome with that sealant drop! Yeah that hotel at Lake Roberts, we tried to stay there too but had the same problems with trying to book a room. Doors were locked. You couldn’t interact with a human. Very very odd. The password and WiFi didn’t work for us either. Probably best we all didn’t stay there. Something didn’t add up right. So we pushed on over the massive hill into Silver City. I was absolutely wrecked that day, and laid in the market parking lot like the most epic biker trash I’ve ever been. My proudest moment. Haha. Then I rallied and we made it into Silver City in you guessed it the most pouring rain there ever was for us on the ride. A sort of baptism of the ride for me. Real spiritual experience for me. I can’t wait to get to that video to edit and drop in my GDMBR series. It’s gonna be good 👍

"The closer I get, the more things go wrong." Oh man, no truer words have been spoken about the tour divide. New Mexico really wrecked havoc on my rig with things breaking, my first flat of the ride occurring and other parts of the bike falling off daily. Also I can't get enough of your "Current status update: Not Good."🤣

Oh man! So nice to see this section from Cuba to Pie Town in the daylight! 😂 We pedaled at 2 or 3 am though there because yeah, as you said “it’s baking oven hot out here” and I was worried about little Rowdy dog. One day we started pedaling at 8pm and were going to pedal the the night and we biked until 1am before laying down in the literal dirt after that tunnel. So weird to see that stretch in the light bc it’ll forever be the nighttime section for me, which is a whole different vibe. Oh the Toaster house! We stayed there too. I want to be its new caretaker! I even have a toaster car! It’s a honda element, which the element community refers to them as toasters. 😂

Dang dude! New Mexico really eats up bikes and the racks and spits them out! 😂 My fork mounted tail fin broke on me out there, causing my catastrophic trail ending crash for us. Also Aaron’s tire imploded from the inside rolling into abiquie. I had my first flat out there. And other parts of my bike broke off too. There is some sort of bigger universe thing out there looking out for us wayward travelers though. In your crashes on this section and mine. I too don’t even want to think about if my bike had failed going 40mph instead of when I was going 4mph. Oh! And the wall like section? Yeah dude, I was not my best self out there either! I think maybe that “wall” is also harder because you’re totally alone in New Mexico while in Canada my understanding is the wall is on day 1-2? So you’re in company with others and that helps a ton. I so enjoyed this video. When we rolled through this section, I was like HOW did Chris DO this?!? And also, seeing your bike tread marks gave me strength to keep pedaling cause I knew you had just been there. You really pulled me forward out there! So it’s fun to see this video bc of that ❤

Dang! I'm watching these last few videos and realizing just how much you got hammered on by the rains! I believe there is a day coming up where you really hunker down from a lightening storm. WOO! I'm looking forward to that one! Cause I know all ends well. : ) Ride on Chris, ride on!

Wow Chris! I think this was where you were your bravest. No unnecessary drama at all. Smart to consider all options. But you showed such courage pedaling away from Breckenridge! And then again heading south off Boreas! And then in typical Chris fashion, your freaking killed it! Going ALL the way to SALIDA from Breck? Tailwinds or no, there was a lot a climbing in that section! With smiles and confidence to boot and with no yummy foods in Hartsel! Your bike spark really lit here, and we at team rowdy were never able to make the gap you and your monster legs created! 😂 But you became our intel back with texts to Aaron and I’ll never be able to thank you enough for that! Makes me think of that humble and kind song by Tim McGraw, “turning around and helping the next one in line” and “mountains to climb” You are an inspirational and stand up dude. Helmets off to you sir

I’ve already watched and commented on this video from the trail when we were behind you a few towns. Rewatched this one today since I’m now watching your videos beginning to end, and I just love you putting your vulnerable self out there and documenting this process of the trip. I think everyone who rides the divide, at some point, no matter if they are the elite racers like you and Justinas (yes, i absolutely put you in that category given your condition- and it seems the Bikes or Death podcast recognizes that too- the first finishers and the last ones have a STORY to tell!) Anyway, all I’m saying is I think all can relate to this part of the journey. Both on and off the trail man. “Look at that bike, it doesn’t want to go in a box”. Ah! SO DEEP! So metaphorical!!! THANK YOU for sharing this one and yourself with the world! “I think I’m gonna go for it.” Dayum Chris! Feels! Your journey is so inspirational for so many. Thank you! Life’s a journey after all, so you gotta ride on.

I loved this one! The choice of music was spot on with the lyrics about changing your story and re writing the lines. You embody that so beautifully! Also nothing happens before coffee…couldn’t agree more. 😂. I hope you explain the balloon at some point. It made me accidentally spit out what I was eating cause I was laughing! Hilarious 😂 You were on point in this one.

Chris! You look like you are having fun in this one! Of course the climbing and descending are another story. Lol. I remember that rocky descent. You had a trail angel watching over you for sure at times. I believe this to be true for all of us riders. Whooo weeee! Did we go through some gnarly situations! But your blissful smile on this video captures it perfectly why we all endure the hardships. Ride on Chris!

Lava Mountain was the hardest in my humble opinion. Freaking awesome! I also relate to the holding someone up feelings. It's tough, both with my riding partner, and then later with us trying to chase you. lol. You were a beast there toward the end. Ah! I love your Tour Divide day 13! Take 2! lol. Your approach to handling challenges is so wonderful. Thank you for sharing you and especially this part of you with the world! I hope one day we can reconnect and meet your family!

The next day after this video is when I saw you and Rob for the first time! You were hunkered over breakfast at the cafe across the street from the hotel! I remember just seeing you two and knew you were bikers, bc we can pin point that and I wanted to sit down and chat but was chatting with other riders and a hiker too. That cafe id give my best of the trail award for Americana breakfast cafe.
