Original Podcast Description: Icky Gunk. Moldy Hay. Kermit. You might recognize one of these names. Before Kermit joined Miss Piggy and Big Bird, he was kicking it with Sam and Friends-a local TV show in Washington, D.C., that launched Jim Henson's career. We journey back to 1955 to figure out how this eccentric cast of puppets built the foundation for everything Jim Henson would do afterwards, from Sesame Street to The Muppet Show and even Labyrinth (we see you, David Bowie fans). And we venture into the conservation labs to learn what it took to revive these crumbling hunks of foam and fabric when they landed at the Smithsonian.

It's crazy to me that before he became a frog Kermit in this era was considered as a lizard So he should've then been called Kermit the lizard rather than Kermit the frog Still though It's something that has always been fascinating and intriguing to me

why nobody talks about the rowlf appearence. because jim is here, and jim henson is the voice of rowlf. and im completely crazy.
It was sometimes necessary for them to be stand-in operators for someone else's character using a pre-recorded audio track. It would have been Jerry Juhl and Frank Oz operating Rowlf while he was talking to Jim Henson, though as to who operated the head and left hand, and who operated the right hand is up to speculation. When Kermit The Frog and Scooter announced awards at The Oscars, or was it The Emmys, Waldorf and Statler were heckling them from the audience, but both pairs were voiced and were ordinarily operated by Jim Henson and Richard Hunt.

Why is professor madcliffe's mustache green?
Probably because of the type of camera they used to record this video as several of the other Muppets don't have their correct colors here as I when got to see the actual puppets in real life. The colors in real life compared to the colors in this video are completely different.
