First of all, thank you for the well-made and well-thought episode. I don't ship Denny, but I've got no trouble seeing where the shippers are coming from. And I love Benny. But I'm pretty bummed that you didn't mention any of the Destiel moments as well as Cas'funny lines. I love Team Purgatory. I'd like to point out that the answer as to why Dean started to truly trust Benny is that Benny saved Cas's life. My favorite moment of the episode is the exchange of "I am not your aunt" between Benny and Cas.
I don't think I agree with your take on Misha Collins here. I've never contacted him because I do like to keep a strong layer of separation between myself and the celebrity I like. I also don't put him on a pedestal. IMO, he's just a generally good guy who sometimes fudges up and has to make up for it like all of us. In my opinion, being open to conversation with the fans/easier to contact (via texts for instance), doesn't mean he wants to be put on a pedestal. On the contrary, it should put him down to Earth (I have a hard time finding the words), as someone who's not star too perfect to be contacted via something as non-glamorous as a text. Moreover, I think he's very opened about his flaws and misgivings. He's also someone who, while an introvert, does love connecting with people. Lastly, I don't see how wanting to use his fame to do good in the world via his influence has to equate to the type of manipulative behavior you seem to hint to. My issue is mostly that you seem to make a lot of assumptions about his intention here (for instance: him doing this in order to "be put on a pedestal").
I don't have Spotify anymore 😢 and a fell behind..... which means that i get to have a super marathon of one of my (two) favorite podcasts 🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉❤🎉🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉🎉❤🎉❤🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
I didn't really know where to put this comment. First of all, I wanted to thank you for the amazing podcast. It's one of my two favorite Supernatural podcasts and one of my favorite podcasts point blank (and I'm pretty picky). I love the nuances of your discussions and your empathy for the characters. You also have great chemistry. As a queer autistic fan, the last three episodes of the show were very hard to digest (Cas is my favorite character and Dean isn't far behind) and for a long time, I couldn't go back to the show. But because of you and this other podcast, I'm finding my love for the show back. I'm now rewatching the episodes before listening to the podcast. I hope that you know that my disagreement on my second point doesn't change anything about the respect I have for your work here. Honestly, with the clever and respectful way you explore different topics, I think it encourages me to be honest about my point of view on this topic too. My second and last point pertains to this episode of the podcast and is not even about SPN, sorry. I'm surprised by Marie's disgusted reaction when talking about Snape, who, while a character darker morally than Dean (and just as traumatized and just as shaped by this trauma), is also very much a queer-coded character on the same level as Dean, who escaped the clutch of his author's will to become very important for many members of the LGBTQA+ community (I guarantee you that the majority of Snape fans are part of the community). To me, he's even more believable as a queer character than Remus. The situation with Sirius in PoA is also a lot more nuanced than Snape "being smug": remember that, from his point of view (backed up by strong pieces of evidence) Sirius is the guy who tormented him for years, betrayed the person Snape loved the most in the world (and no, not necessarily in a romantic and/or sexual way) in a way that lead to her death, violently murdered several people himself (sidenote: there's no proof Snape killed anyone before Dumbledore, on the contrary) and planned to murder the person Snape had sworn to protect, Harry. Snape had no legitimate reason to not think he was doing good work here, that he had finally begun to make it up a bit for what he (Snape) did to his best friend, by bringing one of the people (with himself, Snape, and Voldemort) responsible to her death to justice. As for Henriksen, once again, like with the Snape/Sirius situation, we know Dean is good, but Henriksen has very little reason to believe it. Dean's lawyer believing him makes a lot more sense than Henriksen doing the same. Henriksen is no more a "bad" guy in this situation than Snape is in PoA. The difference is that our view of the latter, in the same situation as Henriksen, is informed by the very biased view Harry has of him. Sorry for the rant, I hope it wasn't aggressive. Anyway, I can't wait to listen to the rest of the podcast. PS -- Victor/Dean is a great and somewhat underrated ship.
Nice idea to put your audio content also available on here!
OMG Marie that look on your face at 4:57 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for this video! I listened to the audio version a couple of days ago, but it will be easier to find it again here. And to see all your faces is a treat!
I love you for putting this up on UA-cam, this is my favorite people hanging out with me ❤
first time watching this podcast. im so exited. i can’t ever let go of this show. since i was 11/12 it’s my comfort show. i just can’t let go.
I like your discussion. Thank you for making it available! I'm not sure how I would answer the question. I don't think Zachariah has the mojo to fabricate the future. Not something as elaborate and different from reality, that is. It's a Terrible Life, sure, that was his doing. But it was changing the memories of a handful of people working in one building; he did a lot of work on the brothers (mostly on Dean, since Sam could kind of remember his real life) but for the rest of the world, he just made people believed they had two new co-workers - which they did. He couldn't make Madison answer the phone and remember going out with Sam because she is dead in reality. Maybe if Zach had some help from Micheal? He could ask for the scenario he thinks most likely would make Dean compliant and Micheal (or another archangel) could build it or sherry-pick it. All I'm saying is Zachariah was not the only one behind the EndVerse.
promosm 🤘
Bobby is the best. There is no parallel for him in the angels or demons
Your comparison of Dean and Sam just emphasizes that Dean is healing but Sam is in extreme pain this season. For each, the more diress they are under, the more each if them display toxic masculinity... Okay I have to send you a voicemail.
Oh Sam. His found family with Jessica ended in death and with Ruby ended in betrayal. Sam does not function well without Dean. Also Sam has lost his girlfriend/fiance, his father, and his brother before Season 4 starts. That is so much loss and pain for 3 years in Sam's life. Which he feels responsible for those deaths. I think it is hard for him to let Bobby in.
Yes! Etymology.
Love Drew's writing!
Hello Luci!
Thank you for posting this recording and for the podcast in general. It is so interesting to hear other people's thoughts on the show and the characters! 50:38 I never got that Dean was on a quest for revenge, except when Sam died at the end of season 2. (It was the trifecta - mom, dad and brother killed by the same monster - that pushed Dean into revenge for two episodes. Before that, he was being loyal to the quest of his father, to the memory of his mother while doing what he was thaught was the right thing to do: kill "evil son's of bitches. It make sense that he saw all creatures as evil because the only way he knew about those creatures was because something bad happen around them: they usually find a case by chasing a weird death, so he assumed creatures were all monsters. That is not being vengeful. It might be being over confident in your own "right and wrong" compass; one could even say it is being righteous, but I don't see the revenge. Maybe I'm missing something obvious... Please feel free to point to me some vengeful moments. Apart form Dean ramming Gordon into the wall and slugging him in Bloodlust, I don't see it.
As a late comer to the podcast, it is so fun to discover this chanel just now, and kind of be in a state of expectation, like : did you acquired those bingo cards? It would be amazing to do another complete rewatch with a bingo card or a drinking game!
I looove Drew's recap!!!
Happy birthday 🎉 Drew!
This is so wholesome, I'd love for you both to have a bingo card per season 🙏
Have the Bingo Cards been made yet?
