They really should be in a forced air enclosed server case. But if you need a little extra cooling, this ugly mod helps. Just make sure you use thick enough pads (3mm) so you don't short anything out. Disclaimer: T...

    So I've been having issues with my back fan starting to wobble and sounding like an old engine... Took the card out identified it's defo that fan that's wobbling as it's loose and not stiff like the others.. Where did you get your fans from?

    • @JoyofMining
      @JoyofMining 3 місяці тому

      @RoyalATP amazon and ebay have em. Take the shroud off to see the connections. Then when you think you found the right fans, double, triple, and quadruple check that it's the correct ones. I recommend doing the whole set of fans. If 1 is going, another will probably go soon as well. I recommend amazon as if you do get the wrong ones, they have an easier return policy.

    I've been wanting to do this. PSUs are more efficient on 240v than 120v. Is it a dramatic amount? Well, as you have shown, no. BUT it is still more efficient. You can even check PSUs' efficiency rating curves and how they compare on 120v vs 240v plugs. It's really going to be the most noticeable without a load... as PSUs are generally rated at 93% efficiency under moderate load. Depends on the wattage of the PSU, of course. And then you have your 80+ bronze, gold, platinum, etc., which means the lowest load they can go to to be at least 80% efficient. I have a Corsair HX1200i and I'm running 98ish watts from the wall @ 83.x% efficiency which is showing about 82 watts. So, my PSU at an idle is pulling 98 to convert to 82 watts. It'd be nice to increase that efficiency. Would I see it on my electric bill? No. But I'd see it with HWiNFO64 lol. The Corsair HXi models have their own power monitoring hardware in them, so as long as you connect it to your motherboard you can monitor all your PSU specs. It matches up with my Kill-A-Watt 3 meter. It'd just be cool... that's my only excuse. Plus, the efficiency curve rises much quicker and drops much later on a 240v outlet according to the manufacturer's tables. The issue is that the 240v outlet is about 18 feet away :-/ Not sure if I want to run an extension cord for a PSU cable just for all this. And moving my set up is out of the question. Plus I would need a new surge protector for 240v.. which isn't a problem but, I dunno. It's just unfortunate that the only real efficiency gains I'd see are at idle. But if I could bring my efficiency rating from 83% @ 100 watts (averaging) to 90-92%, that'd be pretty nice. I need to find my efficiency rating table and see EXACTLY what this PSU would do.

    What thickness thermal pads is correct for this card? :)

  • @KaisUK
    @KaisUK Рік тому

    The hotspot temps you are seeing buddy is on the GPU dye so good thermal paste like syy 157 or Thermalright TFX or even the Honeywell PTM7950 thermal pad would see a reduction in temps but not by much however far better than the stock paste. Since the founders 3070 is GDDR6 it doesn't run as hot as GDDR6x VRM modules on the ti 3080+ cards and doesn't have sensors on the card which will allow you to monitor temps. However your thermal pads would have made a difference, its just that you can't monitor them using software.

Also its wobbling when it goes back to 0 with irritating sound "screech" (hard to describe). Do you think it would be fixed by changing the fan? What kind of screw driver I need to replace fan?

    • @JoyofMining

      I get some on Amazon, and some I can only get on Ali express. Search the name and version of the card. 2080 ti rog strix Then double tripple and quadruple check again with the pictures. Check the length of the wires, how they connect, how many pins at the header, and also check the size of the fan, 88mm or 90mm. Hope that helps. Some gpus I have had to order the fans multiple times because I didn't pay attention to how the 2 or 3 fans connect (1 short into a long, or 2 independent wires) so really compare the pics.

    Sadly this isn't always accurate. For example, I currently have a GTX 1650 in a low power build I'm messing with and it's undervolted. Maximum power consumption seems accurate in HWinfo as it shows 60.8W at 100% load, but during idle its showing 32W, which is WAY higher than it should be. A GTX 1650 idles around 6-8W. Software like HWinfo is great for many things, but the readings aren't always 100% accurate. So just be aware of that.
