    I thought the 3 stage One would be slower than the continuous RXT. Do you feel the size difference was the reason?

    • @brandon_judd
      @brandon_judd 5 місяців тому

      No, it’s the amount of rocker. Rocker height has more drag than rocker type in most cases. Here’s the breakdown: Two continuous boards: the one with more rocker is slower. Two 3 stage boards with the same angle and location of the 3-stage ‘kinks’: the one with more rocker is slower. If rocker is equal, continuous has less drag, so it’s faster than 3 stage. The 3 stage would be slower. But if a continuous board with a lot of rocker (RXT) is compared to a 3-stage board with very little rocker (ONE), the 3-stage with less rocker has less drag (faster top water speed). I rode the 148cm RXT and the 146cm One was still faster feeling. It sat higher on the water. I liked that feeling a lot so I went with it. Hope that helps! If you want to buy one, let me know! Happy to hop on a call to discuss if needed!

    Great video! What did you end up going with? I’m debating between the One timebomb and blackout. I’ve heard the timebomb has more pop, but would love to hear what you think. I’m coming from an old school 2012 One timebomb 😅 so I’m sure either will be a huge upgrade.

    • @brandon_judd
      @brandon_judd Рік тому

      Hey Will! I saw your email come in and sent you a reply, but figured I'd reply here as well in case there are others in your situation. I chose the 146cm One Blackout! I love it. I tried the RXT in the 148cm and I was actually surprised at how big it felt. It was a bit much for me on both bulk and size. It just felt like a lot of board to move around for my height/weight. That was pretty interesting considering how light the 146cm One board feels. I could easily go 148cm on the One without feeling that same discomfort, so I think the One is a bit leaner and faster than the RXT. I liked that a lot about the One - Plus, I just felt at home on it. As for the Timebomb vs the Blackout, here's my breakdown: The Timebomb is a little heavier (still not "heavy" but not as light as the Blackout). But the Timebomb is a little more flexible. It has a really nice "springiness" to it. The landings are super soft and it's a very fun, forgiving board. I traditionally have ridden the Timebomb and preferred it over the Blackout. In previous years, the Blackout core was very stiff. I didn't like that, and I preferred the flexier, more forgiving feel of the Timebomb. But for 2023, they changed up the Blackout core material. It's now lighter AND as you can see in this video, when I tested it, I found that it "has a little spring in it's step" as I mentioned in the video. It felt like the best of both worlds for me. It had the springy tail pop that I liked and the weight reduction benefits as well. I loved that about it and it felt like an upgrade from both the Timebomb and the 2022 Blackout One. I'm really feeling good on the 146cm One Blackout for 2023! If you or any friends of yours would like to upgrade their gear, I'll take care of you over at www.wakecoaches.com Thanks for the kind words and for your comment!

      @@brandon_judd I'm on the fence between the 140cm and the 145cm Parks. I'd say I'm an intermediate level rider (back roll, tantrum, 180s, surface tricks), not looking to push crazy tricks beyond my current inventory, I'm almost 30 now and I've got bad knees and shoulders from years of high impact sports. I'm 6'0 and my weight fluctuates between about 167 lbs and 182 lbs, usually sitting somewhere in the middle around 173-175 lbs. I know it ultimately comes down to what feels better for me but which would you recommend? I can't try them both because that would prevent being able to return the board. Thanks!

    • @brandon_judd
      @brandon_judd Рік тому

      @@mattmay-ni7wg great question! It does sit super high on the water, so normally I’d say the 145cm hands down, but you could go either way with the Parks. I’d say it would be influenced by what size board you’re used to. If you want it to be extra forgiving, go 145cm. If you’ve normally been riding a 142cm or bigger, go 145cm. If you’re used to a 138cm and you’d rather the parks sit a little deeper, be a little lighter and more sensitive on edge, then you could go 140cm. But based on your current tricks and preferences and all that, without knowing what boards you’ve been on, I’d lean more towards the 145cm. That’s the size I rode in the video and I loved it. I’m 6'1" ish and 175lbs or so.

      @mattmay-ni7wg Рік тому

      @@brandon_judd awesome, thanks for the quick response! I was on a 2012 142cm One ATR previously so the 145 seems reasonable. I was just concerned for how it might feel if I’m sitting at 165-170 lbs, since the recommended weight for the 145cm is 170+.

    • @brandon_judd
      @brandon_judd Рік тому

      @@mattmay-ni7wg yeah, you really could go either way. I could have easily gone with the 140 but I am used to a 146cm and I like the extra length. So you’re right in the middle. It definitely rides high on the water so if that’s weird for you then the 140cm will sit deeper.

    My friend is getting back into wakeboarding and wants to buy my 2022 supreme off me and I'm looking at the 2023 supreme. Is there any major difference between the 2022 and the 2023 in terms of how the board rides?

    • @brandon_judd
      @brandon_judd Рік тому

      Great question! I didn’t spend a lot of time on either, but in my limited experience, the board definitely rode differently! The core material is significantly different. It’s MUCH lighter in 2023 and very much improved in my opinion. The shape looks and feels similar in terms of speed, drag, & traction, but the core is so different that it really felt like a different wakeboard to me. It felt lighter, poppier, more sensitive underfoot, and overall more agile. If you have someone who wants to buy your 2022 off of you to help fund your upgrade, I’d jump on it and swap it out for the 2023. I can make sure you get a good price, too (Wake Coaches does price match!). Let me know if there’s anything else specific you’d like to know!

    For shoes, I wear a size 10 and sometimes a 10.5. Being right in the middle of binding/boot sizes, would you recommend sizing up? Or down? (being the largest foot in a 7-10? Or the smallest foot in a 10-12?) I am only considering open toe options if that makes a difference.

    • @WakeCoaches
      @WakeCoaches 2 роки тому

      Great question! Typically, the rule of thumb if you are in between sizes is to size up for comfort, and size down for performance. That being said, you're in an open toe boot. I'd size up. The footbed in the smaller boot might be too short for your toes and not line up properly with the sole of your foot. It's better to just cinch down the laces more. That being said, I'd also consider who else is in your crew. Will you be sharing this board with anyone else? What size are they? If it's just for you, would you consider a closed toe? if not, why not? Lots to consider here! Happy to help!

      @@WakeCoaches Yeah it is a good question Kyle! I'm considering closed toe boots for next year. I'm also in between (big) sizes. When doing sessions of 1,5 hour at the park I guess sizing down for more performance/feel is better. If you're wakeboarding all day I'd say size up. Size up indeed gives more comfort, I'm riding open toe right now and slightly oversized, very chill.

    I've been trying bs 180s just outside the wake on flat, and I feel like the tension from the rope on my arm wrapped around my back forces me to spin back around immediately. I see some wakeboarders ride pretty easily in that position though. Any tips?

    • @WakeCoaches
      @WakeCoaches 2 роки тому

      Yes! I mentioned this in the video briefly. But that issue is super common. You’re leaning way too hard. Less lean against the rope, and more twist of the board. That’ll make it feel “easier” because the line tension is trying to untwist you aggressively right now. Play with the drills in this video at slow speeds and focus on leaning less.

    • @sweatyzeusgaming
      @sweatyzeusgaming 2 роки тому

      A lot of practice. I learned by power sliding into that position and just riding around in it a lot. It’s really not that bad just takes getting used to. You prolly need to pin the handle tighter on your hip too if it’s pulling you back around…. And you are likely creating too much line tension or leaning on the rope too much.

    • @WakeCoaches
      @WakeCoaches 2 роки тому

      @@sweatyzeusgaming Yes on all of the above except pinning the handle tighter to your hip. This is more of a body position problem than it is a handle position problem. If the lean is correct and the body position is correct, you can completely relax and the handle will remain in the correct position.

Start by rolling your knees forward (while keeping your hips forward), kind of like you would if you were doing the limbo. Only start with a little bend in your knees and then push the bend out of your knees at the wake, fully following through off the tail. That’ll introduce you to a little more kick at the wake.
