Steve, great video. We were there in May 2019 (Princess) and it was one of our 2 favorite cruises. It brought back some good memories. We don't do overs, but the British Isles might be a first.
Thank you, I know what you mean its one we may well repeat in the future, especially if there were more Scottish Isles on the itinerary.
I am going here, seems a pain to take a train at every port, was it worth it, think I will do a walking tour in each port
@@shelleylarose There are usually bus transfers too but yes it can be a pain so sometimes we just stay around the port too.
Being nosy what room number did you film this in
@@ShaunBrookes-z2f No problem C506
@ ah I only ask as we got back yesterday and we were in the 503 cabin wasn’t sure if they used the same pictures on the wall
@@ShaunBrookes-z2f Ah, hope you had a good cruise, heard it was a little rocky with the storm hope it was ok.
@ wasn’t to bad was our first cruise had to stay in Southampton an extra night and also missed Bruges due to weather had an extra day at Amsterdam
I am not doing any excursions, I like getting off the ship and explore on my own
I very rarely do excursions too, there are always lots of ways to get to where you need to go and prefer wandering and exploring rather than being guided.
Straight to the point, useful tips, AND NO STUPID MUSIC as you are talking! Thanks!
Thank you
Is there room under the bed for empty suite cases?
@@robertwehmeyer9684 Yes there is plenty of space for cases under the bed. Good point, next time I do a cabin review I will show that. Thanks
Thanks for getting back. My wife and I are doing a West Bound Transatlantic on the Regal Princess to Southampton next year and we booked a regular balcony room so the info is good to know. Thanks again.
We went on Aurora back in July and they had plenty of waiting staff. I won't say they were hanging around - the assistant waiter had beads of sweat on his forehead by the end of the meal, but they cared for only 3 tables. ❤ Thanks for your balanced and moan-free review! 👍🏻
Thank you. They do work really hard night after night, I don’t know how they keep going to be honest.
Just booked Ventura for the new year. Cheers for the update. We're excited! 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint Thanks, I’m sure you will have a great cruise 👍🍺
Went on p and o cruise last year entertainment was absolutely shocking surely they need to upgrade couldn’t believe how bad it was compared to Marella staff on there were absolutely brilliant also entertainment much better
@@neilphillips5822 I’ve not tried Marella tbh but hope to soon. Compared to other lines like Royal the entertainment isn’t on the same level I agree.
That’s interesting as we did Ventura recently and thought exactly the same! whilst the theatre company were good the guest acts and resident band were of a very poor standard indeed going on Marella next year so pleased to hear how good the entertainment is!
Fabulous I’m on the Iona next April with my partner and can’t wait
@@janetupton3517 it’s a lovely ship, I’m sure you will have a great time
I've been on arvia which is basically the same ship despite 1 or 2 differences, Iona will be lovely! Enjoy your trip 😊
Beautiful house and gardens!
It really was stunning, so worth a visit.
hi Steve i hate geting drass up and only where jeahs and tee shirts and trainers will that be ok also im a lorry driver is they working class people onthese ships please .
@@paullucas9758 Hi, some lines are stricter than others. MSC is probably the least formal but for others like P&O there are some restrictions on where you can go on formal nights such as the main dining room. That said you are fine to walk around the ship in jeans and trainers etc and can use the pub and buffet no problem. On non formal nights of which there is usually 2 in 7 nights you can wear jeans and trainers everywhere including the main dining room. Hope that helps.
Going May 2025
@@jameshchetwyndjr9739 Have a great cruise, it’s a stunning part of the World
12 Day trip to the Canaries on Dec 5th, looks very relaxing which is exactly what I am looking for. Cheers.
@@ceeabee Have a great cruise, I’m sure it will be relaxing and some nice winter sunshine in the Canaries
Wow you must be really up yourself. The cocktails are really bad? 😂😂😂 Maybe you should give this up... You are pretty crap.
Thanks for your kind words
Nice one mate going on Ventura next week for two weeks thanks for heads up 👍👍
@@geoffreyruncieman6160 Thank you, have a great cruise. Where are you heading to?
I love Scotland, never thought of going there on a cruise though. Weather looked amazing, you were very lucky.
We were, really didnt expect so much sun. Was a bit cloudy in Inverness but still nice a warm.
What an amazing country Ireland is and the video is very insightful. I'd never have thought of going to Ireland on a cruise but the people and places are fabulous. Thanks Steve for another great video! ❤
@@ThomasFamilyWrexham No problem, yes it was a great port, lovely place. The next stop was Ireland too in Dublin.
Never had French onion soup?! You're certainly not a knowledgeable diner. 🤣
@@whiskeytango5680 No, thought it was time I broadened my horizons 😂
Really loved Cobh, what a fantastic cruise
It was!
Such happy memories
It was a great cruise and so lucky wth the weather
Not enough room for me and my family, nice cabin but would be falling over each other in there!
It was a bit tight with the four of us and one bathroom is always a bit of a struggle!
I think there is enough space, we are traveling with my daughter. Love the balcony of course
The balcony looks smaller than the one in Carnival, I remember being able to stretch my legs on ours, but who knows, thank you for the tour
@@marciaelizondo4402 No problem thanks. Yes the balcony is one of the smallest I have had, the chairs recline but the only way to do that is to point it at an angle which is a bit annoying.
Sea sickness is the worst. Ugh.😩
Very helpful video. Can you please recommend a good cruise trip to Norway from London, if you can share a link then will be great.
Very useful information 👍.
Thank you
I’m here in Bergen and doing a boat ride tomorrow!
@@megg.1610 Enjoy, Bergen is lovely
just been on this ship i was very disappointed really very out dated and i agree the pools was to deep and still couldn’t jump in
@@lukeskywalker4288 It is dated and some areas are showing where it’s 17 years old but it is one of the cheaper ships to sail on
@@CruisewithSteve Still think the pools way better on Ventura & Azura than Iona & Arvia
@@mick6370 I dont think I went in the pools on Iona, they were always crazy busy, especially not keen on the Skydome pool
The pools are so much deeper than they look am 5’6 and when I got in the outdoor and indoor pool I couldn’t reach the bottom
@@Snipviper-uv1jq Yes they are very deep, seems to be the case on most cruise ships, being only 5’6 myself too I find the same. Definitely have to be careful with kids in the pools.
We've been on Ventura twice. First time we had a balcony on deck 10 (C cabins). Second time was a deluxe cabin on D deck. Just looking through cruises for august on Ventura again haha. We also sailed twice on Oceana, which sadly is not part of the fleet anymore. And once on a RC cruise (now a Marella ship). Booked on Azura for next year. I love P&O. They might not have all the fancy fun gadgets that new ships have, but they are still lovely to cruise on 😊 x
I’m also a fan they are great ships and are fantastic value for money. I think Britannia and Azura are my favourite P&O ships but I do have a soft spot for Ventura too.
Thank you
Great tips. We are leaving for a Norwegian fjords at the end of Sept/early Oct. We'll be in hellesylt, Alesund and Flam. Now hard is it to book excursion on arrival at the ports? We did look at excursions from website like viator or norway Best. Any tips for must see attractions especially the fjords will be closing next year or so.
Hi, it can be tricky to get excursions on arrival and I would advise booking in advance as a lot of them get booked up well in advance as the ships are only in for a limited time. Viator is fine used them a few times but not tried Norway Best. I think there may be a rethink on the large ships ban but we shall see. In Hellesylt if the budget allows and you can drive I would hire the Twizzy cars and explore as its small town, pretty but not much there. Alesund the hop on hop off bus is a good option and give you great views and for Flam if you have enough time in port and can get a booking the railway is a must. Hope you have a great cruise!
Steve, thank you. I took your advice and book in advance with Norway's Best. Cruise critic people are saying good things about them. In Hellesylt, we decided to book the Geirangerfjord cruise. We wanted to see it whether they will close it in 2026 or not. In Alesund, we haven't booked anything yet, but will look into the Hop On Hop Off option. We also think about visit other islands around there too. In Flam, it wil be a pack day for us. We are doing the Naeroyfjord (cruise there and bus back Flam), and in the afternoon, we are doing the Flam Railway. Naeroyfjord is also one of the ones that they are planning to close.
I'm going on that cruise soon
That’s great hope you have a brilliant cruise
Brilliant & informative video, as usual. Barcelona is a place I've always wanted to visit - it looks amazing through your lens. Thanks for sharing!
No problem hope you visit there one day. You will love it
Would love to visit Barcelona, its so on my list, thanks for the great video
We did this itinerary on p and o iona in april and the shuttle was free to blakenburge and then we got the train
Hi, were you booked on Select fare? I think they are included with that but we booked saver so had to pay the shuttle but thats a good point actually I should have mentioned that.
On this ship in September for 31 nights. 1st time on sky princess. What time was your boarding as a priority guest
Boarding normally starts at 11am, although priority guests are still asked to stick to the allocated boarding time as long as its not super busy they will usually send you straight through.
We went on recently and had very similar views (although seems very negative in our videos) but every point you say is spot on. Glad to know it’s not just us as we got lots of comments not agreeing! Subscribed🙂
Thanks, I will have a look at your channel too
Thats great thanks for the info, excited for my cruise!
No problem, hope you have a great cruise!
Great tips Steve! Really sound advice!
Thank you
Hi Steve, thanks for the valuable information. I'm Nikita from Bengaluru, India. I had couple of questions, I and my husband plan to explore Norway and Scotland by Cruise. We are mainly interested in the scenic beauty and nature. We are not sure on the route we should opt for, as the cruise liner is offering us multiple options. We have selected the following route though, route - Copenhagen to Copenhagen. Please advise if the destinations we have chosen in fine or otherwise. 01. Alesund - Norway 02. Trondheim, Norway 03. Honningsvag, Norway 04. Scenic Cruising North Cap 05. Harstad, Norway 06. Bodo, Norway 07. Lerwick, Shetland Islands, United Kingdom 08. Kirkwall, Scotland, United Kingdom 09. South Queensferry (Edinburgh), Scotland, United Kingdom 10. Newcastle upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom Many thanks
Hi, that actually looks a great itinerary, as you say lots of scenic places. Not been to Newcastle but I'm sure its an interesting city. What cruise line is doing this route as it looks great to me?
Which cruiseline ?
I'll be on Britannia next year which will also be my first time cruising, picked the 10 year Anniversary around Britain cruise in June 2025 so that I was near familiar territory then if I enjoy it I'll go for a Med cruise
I’m sure you will have a great cruise. I’m doing a round Britain cruise this year for the first time and really looking forward to it, you will end up also doing the med in future too, it’s quite addictive.
We enjoyed our trip last october on ventura. We also found the food potions small but you can always ask for something else of the menu aswell as what you ordered. As for the entertainment we were impressed by most of the acts as well the headliners. Must say there was a so called comedian on which we was disgusted by what he was coming out with. I'm no prude but i certainly didn't find it funny when he was making a joke about dead family members especially after my husband losing his mum only 4 months prior to the cruise. It is the first time we've ever walked out in a show. There was a singer called Ben Moss who was just brilliant. Would be great if he was on our cruise to canada in October.
Glad you enjoyed your cruise, as you say you can always ask for more and I always say you will never starve on a cruise ship there is always food somewhere. To be honest I rarely go to see comedians as I have not often found them to be that good on ships, shame you found this one distasteful. Don’t think I have heard Ben Moss but will look out for him on future cruises thanks for the recommendation.
I was on the Ventura 2012/2013 ish can’t quite remember was only a child (now 20) and had a fantastic time! Was an absolutely amazing ship, I remember the chocolate buffet night was incredible!
It’s still a great ship but sadly the chocolate buffets are a thing of the past, I used to enjoy them too 😀
@@CruisewithSteve no that’s tragic I can’t believe they stopped doing them!! Oh well I guess it’s true all great things must come to an end 😂
Thsts my problem.im going with some of my family they want p and o iona I would prefer a smaller ship what's best must take childrenn
Hi, Iona is a good ship for children and is well set up for the Fjords. If you were to take a smaller ship and you still wanted P&O then Britannia (still pretty big) is also a good ship for kids but not quite so big as Iona but no indoor pool.
Hey! Thanks for the video can I ask which room number was this plz?
Hi, C506. Thanks
very well explained....Thanks!!
Thanks for watching
