Let's Make Comics: Quitters Remorse!
Hey spookies, today we're doing something a little fun for me - the big WHAT IF... what if I hadn't dropped that project? We can't do everything we want, as much as we'd like, and often projects fall apart or get pushed to the side. That's where the WHAT IF question lives. What if I kept going? For once, I want to talk about what I had planned for one of these dropped projects. Here's all the cool stuff I didn't get to show you, all the things planned down the line that got me so excited to work on this project in the first place.
Let me know about your own quitters remorse, what got you excited that you never got to show? And um, if you WANT to see more Emo Boy, there couldn't be a better time to say so than right now. :) Stay spooky, everyone and keep making comics!

Such an awesome image you’ve created!! 👍🏼
Very interesting ideas!!!
Trying to avoid censors is tough.
Sound advice and information. Pro-tips. Good job, Machina Corpse.
Damn, that's a badass intro lol

The ultimate question: how do you escape the table to go to the restroom if you didn’t bring a friend? T-T
Great tips! RE: Eating at the table. I usually try and ask a friend to cover for me for 10-15 minutes and sneak away and eat in private whenever possible. Last resort, if I do eat at the table I try and do so as discretely as possible. Maybe when things aren't super busy. Considerate con-goers will see that you are eating and maybe hold off on your table till it looks like you are done. Ideally I don't eat something super messy or something that involves shoving things in my mouth as people are talking to me. :P
One don't I made a habit of is packing up my booth before the show is over. It's always on the last day of the show about 15 minutes before the floor is closed you'll see and hear people breaking their setups down. I keep my booth up until about 10 minutes after the show is closed. A lot of times artists won't be able to leave their own booths until the last few minutes of the show or there will be that kid with the last of their money they want to burn. It's aways nice to have one last minute sale and it looks good for the Con when their guests/artist aren't trying to leave before the show is even over.
Ohhh I totally missed that one! Great addition! Thanks for sharing.
This was most helpful and informative! Now I know what to do!
Yay! Thank you :)
this was super informative! a++ so good!
yay! Thank you hon! Appreciate that.
My 2nd video I've done in Premiere! Still really need to learn a lot! Go easy on me, and I hope you all enjoy the content for those of you who need it :) The other videos in the series should be less stilted, just wanted to get info out there the best I can.
I love the honesty and reality you provide in this video. Creating art and marketing it solo is hard! You’re successful and figured out your “how-to’s” but having someone else focus on it would make things easier. But then you have to pay them. Oh boy, Tricky stuffs! Thank you for this video!
It really is like doing multiple full time jobs on top of each other (and a full time non-art job!) There's only so much time and energy, it can be difficult to figure out where to put it all.
I admire the ability to put your creativity out there. All endeavours are a capsule of a period of one's life, and those can't last forever. Those that do last are often panned for being boring, as eventually, the author really has nothing new to add to that world. Without enthusiasm and excitement the work will suffer.
That's very true - particularly with each webcomic I want it to really be the one that spreads it's wings and takes on a life of it's own but it's been more often the case that it's a view of my interests and passions of a given period of time.
RIP Jon Died, you were loved
Much respect for your comic strip journey! I always loved comic strips and that world but never felt like I could figure out how to make my brain work in that format.
It does seem like it would run parallel to your interests. I wonder if people still have this comic strip journey or if it really did kinda die out 20 years ago.
This is a great video! I remember reading compilations of Garfield and Calvin and Hobbes strips growing up, so seeing an insight to how the industry works is interesting! And yeah, sadly newspapers are going the way of the dodo, but I hope indie publications can keep the comic strip alive in some way. The funnies page was always my favorite part of the paper.
It really is a very unique art form. Probably the closest evolution of it right now are the "relatable" comic strips all over facebook and X and the like.
❤❤❤
"old" here... I also specifically use a large tablet that I bought specifically to view comic pages, but yes... Comixology died, and I have been mostly in JP media since then. I will do my best to find TGM on this global comix app. Oh, look, I'm finally installing it now.
The episode of MTV cribs we've all been waiting for! Your collections are so beautifully curated. The Retro room is brilliant.
It's not a ton of space but we make sure to fill it with character and inspiration!
I swear, in regards to this intro, I just say things, random things!
The words: Web Ring - - That early web system for jumping between web pages of similar topics.
Certainly was a thing :O
@@ChandraFree Felt like a term you were hunting in the video
that hahaha (i'm finally re-watching our own content.)
So happy to hear about the new material…my son and I started sharing love of graphic novels with God Machine and it continues…we have your pin and love it! You two are funny and hope to see more videos! Thank you for your content, the written, art and video! 🥰🥰🥰
I'm a computer dev, my dream that could never happen has to do with starting a non-profit, working on custom bespoke software specifically for non-profit orgs where the assumptions of commercial software are often the opposite of what any nonprofit actually needs. It would fulfill my creative side, and actually be meaningful... But it would require winning the lottery money to be able to start up an enterprise like that.
That’s amazing! I love this dream, it’s a shame money has to be in the equation of any of our dreams :( . -Chan
Had tons of fun on this. ^_^ thanks Dave!!!
Hate shorts, but I'm old... Would watch process vids.
Thanks, hon! And yeah, shorts.... can't say I am a fan myself. haha
Oooh! Drag queen wrestler cross over comic! The super heroes the world never knew it always needed
MST3K was (and sometimes still is) my go-to "fall asleep to" sound. That show was instrumental in forming my sense of humor, I've been a fan for 30 years, so hearing these ideas was a lot of fun. And I'd read the hell out of a Venture Bros. comic and the art shown in this video would be a perfect match for one. I haven't thought about RPG World in like 15 years but I used to enjoy that back in the day. As for my dream project I'd give anything for a "Legend of Vox Machina" level animated series based on my own D&D/RPG characters. It'll never happen, but I have voice cast picked out for the main characters and everything. I'm content with working on my graphic novel about them (which I'm almost done with the first book, and have a few sequel ideas) and seeing if any publishers want to put it out. That'd be a literal dream come true but at least it's within reason. Having Sigourney Weaver voice the main character, Nails, in an animated series is definitely much more "pie in the sky" level.
Wow thank you for your response! Yeah, MST3K is very much our go to sleep to program for sure. - and thanks for the compliment about the VB art! I appreciate that a lot. Dream casting is certainly a fun thing to do. I always wanted Maynard from TOOL to be the singing voice of my lead character in God Machine. Good luck with finishing your gn!
This was fun to do. Just dream the impossible dream!
Let us know what your what-if dream projects are! I'm super curious!
y'all ARE great at this.
Hahaha thanks!!!
Definitely streaming art! People do chill art streams a lot and they're lovely.
You guys are great! Lovely wedding photos, & I can't wait to see the upcoming projects!
I’m excited!!! Especially for volume two of The God Machine! Especially if/when it will be in book form so I can carry it around and show it off/gift it to people!
Subscribe, we already have a fun video for next week lined up and more on the way! :D
Done!!
We're back back again!
Back back back again!
I’m ready!
Whoa! What is this. And wow! MC used shorts????? ;)
Thank you so so much for this. 🖤
I channel my 10 years of being a New Yorker here and there…
Goofin' on things indeed!
As Chan puts it GOOFin’! Hyuck!
Lol at that twink dog song at the end, good n silly. I'm digging this world of jaded cartoon characters
That jingle demands to be heard!
Yay! And yeah that twink dog song is I. Our heads too! 😊
this is a great and inspiring video thanks
I did not like waking up and looking out the window thinking that I would see a horror movie character but I liked being scared of that stuff im a kid that watched the nightmare on elm Street movies until it just got sick to watch but I like death
