Mercedes-Benz R107 Series, compression ratios and the R107
I attempt to explain what compression ratio means, the history of gasoline in relation to compression ratios, and how all this relates to the R107 Mercedes-Benz.

Dude! Youre killing me. Theres a special way to fold the top,,, dont cram the sides in at the end! Fold in first then push frane down
i see you are voting for biden, don't trust your views.
Mark, great information, I am in the market for a 380SL , road tested one the other day was surprised how well it smoothly and steadily accelerated , not disappointed at all with its pickup , think they are a good solid nostalgic car .
Lets go Brandon
I purchased my '85 380 SL w/ 72,000 miles from a friend for $3500 in running condition. It had the high idle issue and he didn't want to work on it. I knew nothing about Mercedes at the time but was capable of turning wrenches. $325 for a new idle controller and I was off and running. I absolutely love my mb and it garners attention wherever it goes but it could be too expensive to maintain if you did not work on it yourself
You can pickup a lady with this car but you can't go parking in it 🤪
Yea well try to manually put the top down manually on a r129 lol.. but you say r129 has a power too yea but 90 percent don’t work rather have a manuall top
do you need a r107 tool kit?
Great video. I just bought my 84 380SL for 10.5K in Los Angeles. Just started posting videos of my repairs on here as well.

So I got mine free. Sitting in the woods for around 4 years. It started on the 3rd try and I drove it home.
Good clip, but for us to hear you better, please use a lapel mic.
Nice job! The 83 also has the single timing row chain.
As a 50 year old car (like mine 1971 350SL) it is amazingly usable and easy to use.
The R129 is a much better car.
The 129 is a much more modern car. Some prefer the old school feel of a car that was designed in the late 1960s.
not if you repair the upper hydralics
In certain aspects, only problem the upper hydraulics cost a large expensie to replace today.
@@lewdecker1442 $2k repair and that should take care of the cylinders leaking.
Good explanation. Thanks.
You are most welcome.
In Germany we have big rust problems, because of the weather with this car.
Rust is a concern here too. Thankfully our car spent its life in California.
Wish I had the opportunity to experience the "negatives". That would be a dream come true.😃
I never thought I would own one of these cars, but it happened.
