Good to watch a walk round video of an area I in and around allot as a lad but yet again let down by a half arsed vid. I get they are going for natural vibe but that’s only interesting if you’re interesting. Which these guys arnt. This is why this video is un organised laziness interacting with dis illusioned homeless people. They are homeless simply because their lives has alsways been too easy growing up in the uk. They became complacent and took drugs and drank beer while the Asian community was working and owning. This video should be titled “ what it’s like walking round soho AS a homeless person with nowhere to go or nothing to do” Fair play to the fellow for getting out and doing something I guess. It passed 20 min of my days and unlike china macs bs wasn’t staged. In all my time in so ho ( as a smart white man ) I stayed away from anyone with a can of beer !!!! Anyone wearing Nikes with colourful air units. The Indian people I find are very well mannered and respectful. Their children are NEVER playing up!!! They alsways seem happy and content holding hands … really beautiful to see. I’ve not been down there in a few years but I remember seeing an Indian group that set up a big soup kitchen mid way down the street. It has about 20 Asian people ( with their children ) serving a big line of homeless white and black people. Never did I see an Asian face waiting for food. Only stood serving it for free. I dislike these moaning white homeless blaming Asian people for their drug ams drink problems they bought on themselves. They could be in a shelter but they choose alcohol instead. The shelters won’t let them in drunk and high

Having not been in Dundee since 2001 I was enjoying the video up until the 7:30-8:00 mark. I have to stop to ask if the guy on camera changed his mind about when he asked the interviewer to make a cut what he had just said? If the interviewer or team decided to ignore what they agreed to with him and showed it anyways, if he didn't agree you just lost all credibility as an interviewer in my eyes and I can't watch the rest.

If Fintry is considered no-go area then most of the planet is a lawless wasteland. I live in a scheme (24:24) just down the road from Fintry called Linlathen or Hula for short, and it's not even bad. The guy your with in the video is overexaggerating a bit. Has some deprivation but most people are working and/or at college/uni. It's mostly wee weirdos who try to act hard and think they're from the ghetto who do all the DD4 roadman thing. The scheme gang thing like Toddy Rule and Shams Rule stopped ages ago. There are rougher areas like Lochee and Charleston in the west-end, but nowhere in Dundee I would call a no-go zone. In the 2000s definitely it was bad but it's 2024 lol. Whitfield has been completely redeveloped. There are far worse areas in places like Glasgow, Kilmarnock and Greenock where it's not safe to go out in the day. Since the Kirkton Riot, there have been documentaries (including one by the BBC this guy was featured in) trying to portray Dundee as some destitute slum when it isn't. The "rioters" were a bunch of kids on dirt bikes smashing up things for fun. Dundee is a working-class and post-industrial port city, so like a lot (if not most) places in Scotland, it does have a problem with drugs. It began post-war in the '50s followed with the construction of the schemes and drug traffickers specifically target Dundee. Whitfield became ground-zero because of the skarne block mazes making it easy to get away from the police. From there it spread to neighbouring parts like Douglas, Fintry etc and soon the whole city. The average life expectancy in Douglas was 57 at one point. But you have to remember that it's a minority of people in a city of 140,000. Shock headlines don't show the reality of a place. There are a lot of nice areas in Dundee that don't get shown. We have two universities and a lot of new developments around the waterfront. Things are getting better.
