Boltby Bash Enduro 2024
Me and Ste that I did Ard Rock with last year did Boltby Bash this weekend. Videos from practise day Saturday didn’t take go pro on race day.
The course/loop is actually fantastic and the timed downhill stages much more challenging than either of us expected.
It was very enjoyable and probably do it again next year
Thanks for watching

Race Day… Ard Rock 2023… Sloppy Stages 1,3,4,5,6,7

Stage runs from Race Day at Ard Rock 2023. I skipped Stage 2 as wasn’t keen on it in the sloppy conditions and didn’t want to risk ruining the day. It was a muddy mess out there. I still did the same endless transition to stage 3 as I rode across the bottom rather than top and met the lads I was with at the bottom of stage 2. Over the 2 days I did 40 miles, 7500ft climbing and about 12hrs in th...

My first MTB race… Ard Rock Enduro 23… Friday Practise… Stages 6,7,1,2
Переглядів 1,1 тис.Рік тому
Took part in my first ever race this weekend. To say it was harder than I thought is an understatement. Videos do not do any justice as to how steep and tricky these stages were which is such a shame. I’ve never ridden anything like any of it before apart from maybe stage 6. Luckily Friday was dry as the stages on Saturday Race Day were an absolute slop fest. Maybe next year…

I’d seen some videos recently of the more “bike specific” trail that’s had a bit of work done on Ilkley Moor so decided to head up and take a look in the sun. I chickened out of the steepest drop in as I was on my own and on new “unknown” tyres. Excuses I know. Deffo gonna head back up to try and get quicker and enjoy the natural trails more as it’s not something I normally do vs bike parks. Th...

Visited Danny Hart's Descend Bike Park at Hamsterley Forest and had an absolutely AWESOME day! By far one of, if not THE best place I've ever ridden! Cannot wait to get back there for more! Super stoked to be back on the Marin Alpine Trail 7 again! It's been a while since last out as my crash (I know it was nothing compared to most) threw my confidence and was grabbing all the overtime at work whilst available. Then had my 30th birthday so didnt have much chance to get out on the bike. Excuses Excuses...... Bought a new rear shock over my birthday time off work, a Fox DPX2 Elite, ...

Whats up everyone?! It's been a while since my last video but heres one with more riding than waffle in. Now that lockdown restrictions are easing and we can go out with friends and to places further affield , going forward the videos will be more riding focused, rather than me talking lots of nonesense which will hopefully be more fun for everyone watching. Had an afternoon at Grenoside Woods today and have to say it’s fantastic! Took all afternoon to pluck up the courage for some of the bigger gap/doubles but got them all on this final run of the day! The Marin Alpine Trail 7 was as perfect as ever after a few changes to the suspension and tyre pressures.
Wetherby bike park (who knew) and more blue bits on the Marin Alpine Trail 7

Afternoon all! It's been a while since my last video as I've been busy working and avoiding the weather extremes we've been having. I can't function in the heat and hate riding in the rain ha! Whilst bored in the rain I ordered some new blue bits for the bike so got them fitted the other day. I also visited a mini bike park that has been built in Wetherby, North Yorkshire, with some mates so th...

cheers, i did the first 2 last visit but theyre much bigger now! just watched your video, very nicely done, i was going to look at the first 2 again this weekend gone but unfortunately my bike is still in the shop being serviced... maybe next time
Wow dat sound really gd m8 and iz me favorit
Very helpful video. Looking at getting a Cupra estate and can't decide if I want dsg or stick to a manual. Interestingly, the 280 sounds louder... does it have an after market exhaust?
I honestly can’t remember sorry. Was mapped and possibly decat. I’d go dsg if I were you though.
Hi just wondering if this stuff would be hittable on a 150mm travel hardtail?
The top half and the “4x track” would be ok but the lower section is far too tech for a hardtail to be enjoyable at all. One of my mates has an orange crush but we told him it would be very unenjoyable 🤣
@@drbrowny90 Is there enough in the top half and 4x to have a good day as i am thinking of going?
@@joeelliott1781 would limit your day but also lessen your push back up to the top haha. I mean you could have a go on the second half there is loads of different trails and options I just couldn’t imagine it being very enjoyable
@@drbrowny90 Ok thanks
yeah! 🙃
Looking forward to the next one 🤟🏻
FJs 29th or return to Descend?
Looks like a great little place !
Nice video mate, we’re heading there tomorrow!
Nice crash 😉 I've stumbled accross you channel after buying the aline trail 8. What a bike
Haha cheers. All healed now. I’m stoked in my at7 so you must be loving the at8. I’ve just bought a fox dpx2 rear shock to replace the crappy xfusion that came on it can’t wait to get it fitted
@@drbrowny90 you'll love the dpx2. Its really suited to this suspension setup. Also another upgrade that makes the bike feel a bit more responsive is going tubless. It saving rotational weight is 3x the weight of the tube and the wheels is where you feel that, coupled with less chance of ride ending punctures its a win win
@@jameslines9794 ahh cool that’s good to hear. Tubeless is on my list of things to do. Not been out much recently as been grabbing overtime at work whilst it’s been available. Can’t wait to get back out though.
Thanks for the great trail ride video, dude! Quick question, does the AP7 tend to bottom out frequently? Some other videos have brought up that issue in the comments section. Have you experienced this? Cheers!
J. Sal cheers dude! the rear shock is quite poor and tricky to get right, let’s just put it that way. I have found for myself running about 50psi higher than recommended that it’s not too bad and bottoms out less. First major upgrade will be a new shock for sure.
@@drbrowny90 Well then, you've given me something to think about. I'm debating between the Alpine 7 or Rift Zone 3 ($200 more). The cost of a necessary new shock will offset that extra cost if the RZ3. Do you have any experience with the RZ3 at all? Either way, your quick response was greatly appreciated. Many thanks!
J. Sal the rift zone 3 and AT7 were both actually top of my list with a maybe 55:45 to the AT7 due to having the more travel that I am used to and then the AT7 went in the sale at £1750 so was a no brainer. The AT8 was also in the sale for 2500 which would probably have been the better option but I’m a sucker for a bargain haha. I have no regrets, I bought the bike knowing the shock was going to be a weak point. Just lucky I got it cheaper.
Just bought a fox dpx2 to swap to next week will report back 👍🏼
@@drbrowny90 Very nice! I got my AT7 last month finally and I'm really liking it so far! I was thinking of upgrading to a coil shock in the near future, but I'm not sure yet. I am curious about the FOX DPX2, so yeah, a report on how well that shock works out for you would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!
Nice ride, but why cut the corner? Contributes to trail erosion and bad feeling towards bikers and missed out the fun stuff
In the middle? Only missed out on about 10 meters of rock garden so no biggy . Pretty sure there will be no bad feelings or “trail erosion” either.
Hope you’re healing fast. Couldn’t help but laugh at the Wilson part 😂
UnknownID haha if anything I’m getting worse! The bruising has come out in full force and struggling to walk now 🤣😩 so many people had said it looks like Wilson so had to drop him in the video 🤟🏼🤟🏼
Great 👍

Looking for a new shock for this bike. Can't find and volume spacers for It and It Is really too Linear. In a past video comment section you said you would probably be changing the shock. Amy suggestioni on which one to buy? Thanks
I haven’t changed it yet or looked properly. I’ll probably go for a coil shock though of some sort.
@@drbrowny90 Changed It! Can't wait to try It on a proper Trail, but I'll have ti wait a Little. I broke my rib in a crash last week. Anyway, Just a bit of pumping and jumping on the spot in the parking lot and It feels a lot more progressive and "bottomless". I got a Rockshox Deluxe select plus with a debonair spring, taken from a brand new Trek they had at a store. It was a bargain, considered that my local Rockshox reseller has no trunnion mounts for aftermarket shocks (they only come mounted on bikes) and that the Fox Dpx2 Is way too expencive for me now.
Mat Matteo awesome glad you’ve sorted a decent shock. Sorry to hear about your crash I also had a big crash yesterday too! Video be up later tonight 🤣🤟🏼 healing vibes bro!
I love the pedals with the touch of blue.
Mike Desilets cheers man! Little touches 👌🏼
Great video! Where did you purchase the bike from? Been looking for one and i can’t find any for sale.
Cheers! Managed to get one in the Tredz sale back in March. Pretty lucky now there’s nothing anywhere.
👍
Nice! Been waiting for a new one. The bike is looking great!
Cheers man!
Just ordered one of these through tredz, cant wait! Ps solid video man! ✌🏾
Cheers bro! You’re gonna be so stoked on the bike!
Dan I’m thinking of buying this bike but I live in Florida where there is a lot of flat cross country terrain with undulating terrains, is this the right bike. I need something light and playful that I can toss around, is this the right bike or is it more of a downhill?
Sorry I’ve only just seen this comment. You’d be better with a rift zone or hawk hill for that kind of riding. Something more trail related than enduro related.
I ordered one before watching this video. I'm glad I made the right choice, I just hope mine comes in the same box as yours so it's that easy to assemble
I ordered from tredz I think they make a point of bikes being pretty much fully assembled compared to other places.
Hi! I got the same bike last week and it feels amazing. One thing only: where did you find the torque chart for the bike? I didn't manage to find it on the site and i bought it online, so no one knows. I have the same exact slight creaking problem. Also, do you know where can i find some volume reducers for the shock? I was looking everywhere and Xfusion in italy doesn't have them. Thank you! Those blue handles look great!
Mat Matteo glad you’re enjoying. I emailed Marin and asked for the torque specs. Not sure about spacers for the shock, it’s for sure the weakest part of the bike so I’m going to replace rather than fiddle with.
Local bike shop should have spacers available. If you keep bottoming out it’s probably a good idea. I bought the same bike a few months ago and I’m thinking about doing the same with the x fusion. No need to upgrade until I beat this one to death then I’ll probably get a rear spring or the fox float.
@@Islandstonr The thing is that there is no xfusion or marin reseller in Italy, except for one xfusion service centre almost in Austria who I contacted and asked for the spacers. He told me he does not have any and doesn't know when he will. Around my area no one knows about this shock. The thing is, it's not only the bottom out, it also dives too much in corners etc. When i use the recomended pressure. I would need a hell of a spacer if i keep the sag at 30. For now i am trying with 22%sag and fuck the small bumps, but it is starting to feel like a hardtail 😂. Still much better than the old cannondale jekyll i had. I will replace the shock , unless i soon find the spacers that fit, with a rockshox deluxe I think. I can't afford the fox or a coil now.
Just bought one of these, absolutely loving it so far! 👊
Loving the videos. Been looking at this bike for a few weeks and it's great to see more info about it.
Joneser858 cheers man. Sorry I’m not a bit more technical about it all hahah. Maybe in future videos once I’m more used to it 🤣
