If you've seen Terran, you might have noticed she is always covered in plaster - here's why! She's modifying a cast in this video which is the next step after our patients leave our office, that are needing a prosthetic. At their first appointment, a cast is made with the patient in our office. We measure their limb, liner, and tissue density to make sure the cast will fit properly! We then take it and fill it with plaster to make a model which is shown in the video.
We make sure the fit is perfect and curves to the patients body, then we smooth the outside down, to put plastic over it to create the test socket that we will fit the patient into in their second appointment.

Last week, we delivered this young man a donated running prosthesis provided by the non-profit organization "Wiggle Your Toes." We are incredibly grateful for non-profits like WYT and appreciate all of their work to empower those who have lost a limb to keep moving forward.

Idk, youde have to do that awkward little jog unless you wanna sprint everywhere
Unfortunately it's not practical to wear running blades all the time if you're just a single amputee as the blade has to be taller than your hip due to it's compression, meaning it only works properly while running for single amputees.
you'd also have to lose your legs below your knees for this to work
@@BionicleFreek99 well that's unfortunate. These look the coolest imo. There was this russian dude though, who build himself a really good wooden prostetic lower leg. I forgot his name though.

Thank you for this video. Especially the pov with the camera. Got my prosthetic today, wore it for 2 hours without a sock, let my leg rest 2 with stretcher on and prosthetic did not fit. Knee cap was not happy. Now I know how to tell if I need a sock. Thank you!
Thank you for your inspiring story my friend Laura has just lost her legs and we were hoping that you could send us information of the support group for rehabilitation. Lost my leg above the knee two years about from an auto accident. My breaks failed at a 90 degree bend in the country so I ended up hitting a tree at 50mph or so. It's been tough living in northern Michigan during the winter.. I learned how to ride a bike again which is a huge accomplishment. Hoping to be living somewhere warm soon with an easier way of life.
I'm an above knee amputee also living in Guyana I can't get over d fact of.my life changes I was once a very active person nw I'm nt that much active over here d prosthetic foot they making is nt comfortable I wuld really like to be that person I once used to be going abt getting my stuff done

What's that shrinker size?
I’m a subscriber cause I need to learn all the tricks and tips of not getting hurt anymore or even just getting an infection my it’s hard for me I always seems to get a blister and then I have to wait for it to heal I’m just learning and these prosthetist aren’t the best at what they do I like to take my advise from an experience amputee not from someone who had no amputations or whatever the term is.
