Very interesting and important - big thanks to the presenter and organisers
This isn't true. You can't get someone's entire health record from HES
So, turns out im one of only five people in my entire NHS board area that uses a certain inhaler this year 😂
If I could show in a photo the jumps my dogs made at his shouting while I educate myself and they peacefully lie down with the BT device on... what the 💥H E C K💥💥 !!!! It's insane
A brilliant talk. A shame about the shouting which given I'm watching this at work listening on headphones was physically painful
Hi Ben! I very much appreciate your work. I wish you had a bigger voice! I love your books, and keep gifting / recommending them to people. Still, no matter how good a pitch I cook up, most of them refuse to open them, because they think that not trusting pharma companies unconditionally is a cooky conspiracy theory.
I’m ambivalent about him: great books then he vanished during the covid epidemic. Why?
@@celiacresswell6909 He kinda left the public sphere maybe in 7+ years.
@@txdmsk well, sort of. He is a professor of evidence-based medicine at Oxford, with a wealth of media experience behind him. Carl Hennigan at the same university spoke up, but unsupported by a colleague who literally wrote the book on how pharmaceutical science can be gamed. Smelly.
@@celiacresswell6909 I don't know what happened. I would love to nudge him in the rib and ask what's going on in his life. I know he is involved in some projects and whatnot, but I feel it is a big loss that he left the scene after 3 great books and a great blog. With the popularity of podcasts, I would have loved to see Ben appear on all the big podcasts of the world.
This room gives me flashbacks.
Palms sweaty. Still can't remember the derivation to the helium orbitals.
He became like any other professor spitting out papers every few day’s done by others. But in stark contrast he js actually seriously changing things for the better.
Incredible use of health data! NOW to find someone in the Australian government to watch this and be inspired
Great talk, jeez the shouting is unnecessary and annoying.
It's probably a lot less annoying in person than on the recording. It would be good to put some audio compression on to make it less extreme.
Tbh this useful quirk of shouting to get on going to the next topic with speed & include some raging emotion that one can have about a system that doesn’t want one’s panacea just shows that this man knows that what he does is so much more relevant than how he looks like while doing it.
Agreed it was probably fine in person, 'thats just Ben' as he says. It's not so good for your nerves when you're watching it on your TV with the sound going through the supplementary speakers apropos achieving surround sound...
Just saw him irl. The shouting is just as annoying irl
I suppose at least Irl you can shout back? @@user-gt2pn4vt4j
Awesome talk. SO! I will share it with everyone.
