I'll be seeing you

This is a very simple version of the timeless and beautiful "I'll Be Seeing You". The ukulele player is Steven Strauss and the steel guitarist is me, Don McClellan. Thanks
Sweet memories

This is one of 3 videos I'm posting today of myself and ukulele player Steven Strauss jamming in Oakland, CA about 4 years ago (2014?). I think I've come to the end of my steel guitar playing days so I figured I'd share what I have on video.
Sweet and slow

This is a tune I never heard before Steven Strauss (the ukulele player) introduced it to me. It quickly became one of my favorite tunes to play with him. I'm playing an 8 string, homemade lap steel and using a version of the Levitt tuning.

My friend and ukulele player Steven Strauss did not want to be on camera the night we did this so all you see are my knees, my hands and my steel guitar but its both of us playing live together. I am using my 8 string lap steel with the Hawaiian/Leavitt tuning. Thanks for listening.
Mapuana Hawaiian Steel Guitar

This was recorded in Northern California in 2013. I am playing a lap steel I made over twenty years ago. It's an 8 string with what I call the Hawaiian Leavitt tuning. At the time of this recording I knew I loved this song but I had never learned to play the bridge so I just made something up and about a year later I began to regret not playing it properly. So, please forgive me if this "replac...
Beautiful stylings of Mapuana. I live in Hawaii and don't hear this song often enough. Thank you.
Thank you. I lived on Maui in Lahaina in the early 80s and again in the early 2000s.
I enjoyed this rendition of “I’ll Be Seeing You.” Love the Hawaiian vibe.💕🌸 Thank you!🙏🏽

Bobby, I just now saw your comment. I don't check this stuff very often. Please write back.
Just found you. You are so honest and your music so soothing.
Thank you very much, Don:-)
This is so good, no words.
Thank you so much. I'm sorry for the late reply.
So nice!
Thanks :-)
Great performance of lap steel guitar and ukulele from both of you! Wish both of you good life, and enjoying your moments!
a bass player backing you up would be nice, but both of you are great musicians . that is some fancy rhythm playing on the ukulele and the steel playing is beautiful.
Thank you very much.
Can you expound more on your tuning please? I play an 8 string 1954 Fender Stringmaster.
The tuning is a B6th/Adim I guess. String one - Bb (1/2 step lower than string 3) String two - Eb Three - B Four - G# Five - F# Six - Eb (1 octive lower than string 2) Seven - C Eight - A Notice that the bottom 4 strings make a full diminished chord. And the top string (Bb) is very valuable for chording. It's a very good tuning. I used a 10 string tone bar which I would recommend. I don't play anymore. Thanks for asking. .
Beautiful 👍
Thank you very much
Sweet sweet Mapuana, Aloha I love you.....

The lap steel guitar was invented by Joseph Kekuku Upenakana'i in 1886 while the ukulele was introduced in 1879 by Portuguese immigrants to Hawaii.
And?.....
@@CharcoalPencilPusher they were both detrimental in the modernization of Hawaiian music.
Is this a joke? I don't get it.
@@donmcclellan1190 nope! This is history
@@marvinthemaniac7698 Thank you for sharing that bit of history. Your comment further inspired me to read up about the steel guitar. Blessings!🌸
Very nice duet. I play 6 string lap steel tuned C6, but I am not familiar with this tuning. I find my self having to use a lot of slant positions with tone bar when playing Hawaiian style songs. Maybe your tuning is more suitable. Have a good day.
Hi. Thanks for the nice comment. I suggest you look into the tuning I used. The tuning is disscribed in some of the other comments. It has a full diminished chord in it and a major 7th note as well as a 6th chord. The secret of this tuning is the versatility of the diminished chord.
Beautiful. Just like swaying under the coconut palms with a cool breeze coming over from the ocean. Greetings from Australia.
Thank you. What part of Australia are you in?
The musics hawain are so wonderfoul! Thanks!
Thank you Ana

You Show me, how to Play " MAPUANA ". Thank you. Verrrry much. CARLO MR. STEEL. VIENNA ,AUSTRIA.🌴🌴
Great job on this tune, and that's a great looking lap steel. Nice build. Man, ukulele and lap steel go together about as well as bacon and eggs, well, even better, no doubt about it.
Thanks. It sounds like you like it more than I do😛
wonderful!
Gov. Jerry Brown?
Very nice sound, can you still remember the pickup you used in this guitar, because it sounds a lot like the horse-shoe pickups from early 1932. Thanks.
I do not remember the brand of pick-up I was using.
The chords progression is super nice!
Thanks so much to everyone who took the time to post such nice compliments. Steven and I both thank you all.
My husband would love to hear more he’s learning to play the steel guitar and he’s 88 years young.
Lovely tune Great sound, Enjoyed very much. Thanks .
hawaiian music is the best that was invented by mankind

great performance, both of you! I enjoyed very much. Thank you,
What is the tuning on your guitar?
