    Thank you so much! This makes sense. I would like assistance in actually how the cleat is positioned on shoe itself. I have the same Five10 shoes you held up at one point. Any chance you have a video on correct setup of how the clear should be positioned on shoe when installed?

      Hey John, First and foremost, thanks for the kind words and taking the time to comment. It honestly means a lot to me. I should note, I made an error in this video and I mixed-up the two easy release cleats; I believe I pinned a comment with the correct info., but what’s more embarrassing is the high float/easy release cleat which I said I don’t know who it’s for, that’s what I’ve been running and I love it! lol I considered taking the video down but I think it’s worth keeping-up to at least give some people food for thought. Re: the clear positioning, I’m not sure if I’m really the best person to give advice on this subject. Taking a step back (pardon the pun), I try not to present myself as an expert in anything because, well, I’m not. Moreover, I tent to only make videos when I feel like I can contribute something. I feel like there are a lot of videos out there already discussing cleat position and while downhill riders prefer a rearmost position because it places less strain on the calve muscles, it really comes down to personal preference. …at least for forward/back placement. Side-to-side is often to compensate for shoe/crank clearance or, again, personal preference.

I should also note, though I haven’t uploaded in a while, I do promise I have more content coming and people taking the time to express their gratitude honestly really motivates me more than anything. To answer your question, yes - I find FOX’s sizing to be consistent across their entire lineup (if you’re a ‘medium’ in one thing, you are a ‘medium’ in everything) as well as offering what I call ‘aspirational’ fitment in that they are very fitted to the body. This is actually a good thing as it prevents the garments from flapping around but it’s less good if you’ve gained a few pounds.

    Cool review of an expensive and convenient tool to get your gear where you want to use it. We just got one a few days ago, and have yet to even put a bike on it yet! Crazy life now with helping elderly parents, one with Alzheimer’s. I woke up this morning realizing that OUR BIKES HAVE REAR RACKS AND FENDERS! How are they going to work on our $1500 rack?!?!? Came right to Google to see what other folks have done. Not a single mention of rear racks with or without baskets on them! I have some ideas… but…

    • @GREYWOLFbike
      @GREYWOLFbike 4 місяці тому

      KUAT sells a ‘fender kit’ which essentially consists of two straps. I’ve used rubber VOLE ski straps to transport bikes with full fenders. If you’re going to do this regularly, I highly recommend purchasing some VOLE strap keepers as well. They keep the loose tail from flapping around as well as reduce the likelihood of it releasing because the strap is doubled-over on itself.

    Mate you need to unbolt the rear caliper in order to obtain a hose line more conducive of bubble travel. Unbolt it and let it hang and then there's no chance bubbles will get stuck in the caliper or the line. As it is, you're pushing the fluid across the caliper, then the issue is the fluid moving DOWN the line before it travels up to the leaver. Unbolt the caliper, always.

      Hey, thanks for the kind words! Re: the Amazon links, I’ve actually moved-away from that. I’ll be honest, I’ve made $0.00 from UA-cam for these videos and I was honestly feeling the financial strain, but I really want ‘integrity’ to be a core principle of any video I produce and I started to feel like affiliate links were compromising for very little financial benefit. Instead, I’m trying to do a better job at promoting the GREYWOLF Alpine dog leash but I’ve been avoiding the operational cost of a website and payment processing license. I have recently been approved for Amazon’s ‘handmade’ program, so I’ll be sending some to a fulfillment centre at some point so people can purchase through them.

    Great video. We're also in AB and use a rooftop tent, and I'll be watching your Pivot video momentarily.. full tailgate access is required for a super pacific with drawer system. The 1up, Quikr, and Piston Pros all have my attention. I feel like for a two-bike tray with swing out, the Piston Pro (non-X) for 2k CAD will come out ahead of 1600 CAD + shipping + taxes for the 1up. I think I can live without brake lights & kashima, especially after reading all the comments regarding electrical issues.

    • @GREYWOLFbike
      @GREYWOLFbike 5 місяців тому

      Yeah, the electrical issues are real but actually quite straightforward. The way the brake lights get their power is through a contact interface with spring-loaded pins (same as an iPad and keyboard). There’s a rubber seal around the connector but it’s insufficient to prevent water ingress (likely during power washing). This results in the contact surface developing surface corrosion. I’ve honestly been meaning to make a video about the electrical issues and service but I got denied for being a KUAT ambassador despite them asking me to apply, then my Crankworx videos absolutely tanked, and I’m still struggling with my 6-year old iPad crashing while attempting to edit videos. All that combined felt like a kick in the teeth and I really lost a lot of motivation. That said, it’s probably for the best because I’ve decided to stop chasing the weekly videos (that was a 2023 goal) and instead focus on developing the long-format videos I’ve always wanted to make. It means a lot more time filming and editing and fewer videos overall, but I hope people will appreciate the quality over quantity. Anyway, the fix for the electrical issue is just remove the tray, use a little abbrasive to clean the surface, and maybe hit it with some dielectric grease to resist the water. You can also go the full extent of replacing the entire wiring with a free kit from KUAT, but personally I don’t plan to do this.

    Can it be used with e-bikes with fenders front and back?

    • @GREYWOLFbike
      @GREYWOLFbike 5 місяців тому

      Hey, great question. KUAT offers a ‘fender kit’ which consists of two straps. :S It’s pretty low tech, but what you do is lower the tire bracket below the fender and then strap the wheel to the arm because the contact point is not able to hold the bike in this position. Personally, I like VOLE straps and if you get the ‘strap keepers’ for $5, the probability of them coming undone would be exceptionally low while also being kind to your wheels.

    This was very helpful as I need to tune my shock a decent amount too. Do you know how the negative side token is installed? It doesnt apear to have a gap to get it around the shaft, so do you have to take the whole shock apart? Thanks again!

    • @GREYWOLFbike
      @GREYWOLFbike 5 місяців тому

      Hey, you need to remove the shock from the frame and then remove the air can from the shock. You can then slide on the negative tokens. Out of curiosity, does your frame have a linear or progressive leverage curve? Do you have the liner or progressive air canister on your shock? Are you looking to add or remove negative volume spacers?

    • @FLVXVLF
      @FLVXVLF 5 місяців тому

      @@GREYWOLFbike Ahh ok, i had a feeling that was the case. Thanks for the info! I just bought a new Canyon Torque CF 7. It's a progressive LC, but I'm blowing through travel like crazy. I upped the sag to 20% vs the recommended 30% and I'm still using too much travel. The shock is kind've lame, it's the Super Deluxe select plus so it doesn't have any compression adjustment beyond just air pressure. Going to see what the tokens give me and if they're not cutting it, I'll contact Vorsprung in Whistler as they are the premiere suspension nerds! Haha

    • @GREYWOLFbike
      @GREYWOLFbike 5 місяців тому

      That’s super unfortunate it doesn’t have any compression adjustments. Here’s a few key points to consider: - RockShox recommends using a Linear can on a bike with a progressive leverage curve and a Progressive can on a bike with a linear leverage curve - Bottomless Tokens are what you’re going to want to use to resist ‘blowing through’ your travel and bottoming-out the shock as their effect is only later in the travel - Adding Bottomless Tokens = more resistance in bottoming the shock - If you had it, high-speed compression is what would resist the compression forces and thus excessive shock travel (for you, it sounds like you’re 100% reliant on the spring rate/air pressure in the shock) - Negative Volume Tokens only adjust the amount of force required to get your suspension moving (consider it like and extra force or the same as carrying extra weight helping to compress the shock easier) - The more Negative volume = the more ‘helping force’ = easier to get the shock to start compressing - The less Negative volume = less ‘helping force’ = more force required to get the shock compressing

      Hey, sorry about that! The process would be as follows: 1. Remove the front axle (usually a 5mm bolt but you may also have pinch-bolts on your fork) 2. Lift the front end of the bike and remove the wheel 3. Place the bike onto the rack positioning the QR-15 mount into the fork mount 4. Reinstall the axle. 5. Ensure the foam ‘blocks’ are positioned under the bottom bracket.

Now I finished the entire video...... You should have an amazing career in Product design, QA/UAT and if I am Kuat I would totally appreciate the feedback from you. If they can make a few minor changes as you suggested that will really push this product to a super premium level. It is already an amazing product... the only one that I have seen that only have contact points at the tires and not rubbing on any part of the bike. Well done. Truly awesome job here.

      Hey, I really appreciate your comment (seriously). I actually just finished replying to another comment saying how I had applied (and was turned-down) to be a KUAT ambassador, so like you - I’m just a regular consumer. And as a consumer, I just want companies to make the products I want to buy (lol). I could be wrong, but I actually think the Piston Pro X is the most expensive hitch-mount bike rack on the market, so yeah - like you, I don’t want to spend my money on something that’s not going to live-up to expectations. It’s perhaps worth noting that one core principle I hold for all the GREYWOLF channels is to only feature products I like and would recommend to others. That’s not to say products won’t appear in other videos (such as installing a new accessory or something), but I have intentionally not published product reviews on things I don’t recommend. It’s sort of my way of avoiding publishing a negative review so I can walk the fine line between honest feedback and not alienating myself from companies that do make great products, maybe just not the one I used.
