I'm a living ancestor of the McCarty gang...our grandfather changed our last name to Young. His step fathers family name. His real dad died in the world war. He changed it when he swore in as an officer. Said he might as well change it or our ancestors would roll over in their graves.
My great great great grandfather is John “Tom” Mccarty which his children who are my grandparents became the Gilliland’s
My grandfather was Glen McCarty....adopted by his step father and biological mother. He changed our name to Young. They were from Webster City where they Farmed. Then moved to grand meadow area and eventually settled in southern MN.
@@zynial69 interesting to hear means we are relatives of some sort but my great great grandfather seemed like a very interesting man i never knew much about my family history an to know I had people who were pioneers of agriculture and farming inspires me to do more. The gillilands eventually became what is now my last name Carter im aware that Tom had a father who moved to washington away from his two sons but brought one with him would you come from the brother who was with their father in Washington sense Fred Mccarty died soon after
@@mr.4.898 id have to ask my grandpa glen. His biological dad died in the WW so he never mentioned his 1st name
@@zynial69 that’d be awesome if you could get back about that just to know our relatives more more to history than just outlaws
I'm a McCarty. Grandfather glen was a deputy so he changed our last name to his sted dad. He said if our ancestors knew he was a cop they'd roll over in their graves.
Good to hear Howard's voice. He is also a terrific writer I have enjoyed the 5 or so books he's written.
Two of the nicest people you'll ever meet, Howard and Betty, miss you Uncle Howard.
In high school we had to choose someone to interview and write our paper for our English final about them. My partner and I interviewed Howard. His wife Betty was also my 4-H cake decorating leader. Absolutely wonderful people! ❤️
Norwood a community that literally helps all it's citizens.
Howard and Betty Greagor knew my Dad, Tom Stephens and older brother Al Stephens. Al lived there quite some time and raised his family of 7 in Norwood. Great place to grow up I'm saying. We (my twin sister and I) went to high school in that school Howard shows in this video. Cool history.
This is pretty interesting! I see there's a Skalla subdivision. I think my Grandpa sold off some land there in the 50's.
My Great Grandpa was Al Stephens and Grandpa Ken Stephens and great great Grandpa was Mancos Jim. My mom grew up in Uravan. Lots of My family is there. Love that area. thanks for sharing.
Your Great Grandpa is my Uncle. He was quite a character. I remember your Grandpa Ken and your Mom would be my second cousin She's quite active on social media and enjoy seeing her post a pic of you all once in awhile.
Love this. I grew up in Norwood and love the town and people. Miss it.
