To be honest, I alway thought that the "she's loathed due to being realistic" rhetoric was nonsensical, and inapplicable to Dolores. She's realistic, in the sense that a somewhat minor and insignificant, seemingly cute-looking person is more abominated than the irredeemable dictator. But Umbridge is a supervillain. A pure evil one at that, she merely has unorthodox but still efficient methods of fulfilling that role. I feel as though torturing children and condemning muggles to a fate worse than death is lesser pre-eminent than being an exasperating Karen, or an incompetent and slightly sadistic teacher.
