Do you know what sucks? The special edition Terminator Chaplain is unusable if you built him with the combi weapon
@@Goblinhandler ignore wysiwyg more, most people won’t care if you clarify at the beginning of the game
I've recently started playing it on the table top *Along with a list that is practically just Armor* And I just have to say It's really good even when you're dice seem to want to fail you
I have a squad of 5 assult terminators with thunder hammers and shields would a librarian be better to lead them with the sustains? Or Chaplin for the mortal protection and plus one to wound?
You wound most infantry on 2s already, so plus 1 to wound is less useful. A librarian also affects the shooting as well. But he allows him to punch harder against vehicles. I would go for chappy as the best for assault termies, and it's up to you for regular ones.
I like this boy to go with a deathwing knight power swords to punch up
Loving what you do on this channel! Do you recommend the Terminator Chaplain or Terminator Captain better for Deathwing Knights?
for knights id say probably a captain, knights dont struggle to punch up with their maces, and usually look to stratagems for more power, and getting them free is pretty huge
Knights don't really need a leader since they are so expensive.
Hey should you run terminators in squads of 5 or 10 generally?
yes
Depends on what you'll do with them. You get better value for the Chappy's Buff with max squad, but it is very expensive for all of that. So, if you think you can get alot out of a unit that is 1/4 of your army, then great. Smaller units is more economical and easier to hide/maneuver, that said, adding a Chappy is increasing the unit cost by 40%. Could you do better with an additional unit of 5 Assault Intercessors instead or will the mortal defense and +1 wound be worth 75 points.
@@Sanctjud I have the leviathan terminators and terminator characters, I was mostly wondering if it was at all useful or efficient to run them in fives. I’d like to get a terminator chaplain at some point too though so really thank you for the advice
now ive always been a big unit kind of guy, i like 10s but when being practical 5 will usually get the job done
Terminators are spiritual advisors O.O everyday something new to know :P (kidding, just your mistake, but a funny one)
did you mean chaplains instead of terminators in like the first sentence of the video?
yeah i guess i fumbled my words there lol, and that was even the second take!
@@spoonsrattling you’re good dude, I love how frequently you post and do rundowns of stuff, curious when you’re gonna do some more non space Marine stuff, maybe summarize all the tyranid monsters or something, but keep on rockin man
I love these models, mine all look amazing. But GW just hasn't found a useful role for them. You'd never take one of these guys!
Well, yes he gets Reivers in melee from Deep Strike guaranteed, they are a dagger, not a hammer. A great use you missed it charging a horde/mob unit from behind. Ideally you are also charging them from the front, both to force your opponent to divide their attacks, but also make the difficult choice between removing models that can fight or removing models that retain unit cohesiveness in the stretched out enemy unit. Even if you do not also charge from the front, then you force the enemy unit to choose between consolidation backwards and lose precious ground, or falling back and not being able to shoot or charge. Either way buys at least one more turn of shooting for your gunline.
Something you didn't mention but is super important for terminator captain. With the recent change to rites of battle it was clarified that this applies to the unit if they are off the board as well. Meaning you can target all terminators with rapid ingress for free
The variant with the Heavy Bolt Rifle and Power Weapon is great in a Vanguard detachment. I use a 10 man squad of Heavy Intercessors with 2 Heavy Bolters camps, either my homefield objective or a spot with great fields of fire. Utilizing Strike from the Shadows gives them an extra point of AP, and forces Battleshock. They really don't need the +1 BS because they sit on an objective. That is a lot of S5 AP-2 shooting out to 30". Even in the open, they are T6 3W 3+ (2+ with benefit of cover) and -1 to hit them outside of 12". Melee is the best way to dig them out, but that is a lot of T6 3+ save wounds to dig through to get too the Captain. Meanwhile he gets 6 swings of S5 AP-2 D2 which can each kill a MEQ with each swing
I just picked this guy up recently and I’m very excited to kitbash him to make him a little more Templar flavored!
Only thing Reiver LT is possibly good to lead is SW Hounds of Morkai, making their targeted battleshock ability 18" instead of 12", and because HoM don't have grav chutes he's not restricting anything on them. Though they're really not brought as there's better units, if I'm fighting Eldar, Tsons or GK I'll bring a Lt+5 man if I have the space.
In black templar you can either give them more strength or a 5+ feel no pain to the whole army
divergent chapter...
Termi cap has a unique problem of being expensive and only lead expensive unit that arguably also does not keep up with how the meta function. I.e. very cheap for the weapon (dominion melta spam being one of the glaring example). . Gravis cap provide a much better value for less cost
The reiver lts only mediocre use is to follow a terminator squad with the fear made manifest enhancement in 1st company detachment. And hope you can catch a pricey enemy unit to kill off 3 models. Even that takes so much effort for like a 50% chance to even yield anything good. So yeah, hes trash
His model tho is laking, just a cooler shin guard is not going to cut it i would buy belial and run him as as tem captain not obiusly as himself he is siiiit
I'm belial's number 1 hater the whole way round have been since day one. Though if you're gonna use him that is the way to do it
that's what I do with mine from the DWing assault box, model is good it's a shame the rules are terrible
I love this model I multiple versions of it in my older and newer chaos armies in different forms of conversion … agreed this model will always be a great addition to an army 😊
Wish he could still wield the TH/SS combo.
That whit weapons of the first legion
Bland character, but saving potentially 2 CP each turn is a thing. Not sure if he's appropriately costed. 95 feels right and wrong at the same time, he's 20 points more expensive than the Termi Chappy and Termi Libby; ends up being: would you pay 20 points to reroll the charge/save you a CP on what is likely an already expensive unit.
Goofy combo, 2 Incursor squads each with a Phobos Lt. Put the mines to use. Another odd combo is a 10 man infiltrators squad with a Phobos librarian with the execute redeploy upgrade.
Agree he's good, although the relic weapon option is a bit lacking, maybe if it was A7 or had sustained hits 1 it might be more of a choice/decision compared to the power fist
10th is the big weapon edition. Why would I ever choose a chainsword over a powerfist? I wish they did a better job at balancing stuff but not like I could do any better
Worth bringing - LT with Combi weapon Not worth bringing: Everyone else
Infiltrators with a librarian are actually awesome though, if not a big mover and shaker
Why is gw so afraid of giving phobos marines good weapons? Give reivers special knives called vibro blades or something like that to justify giving them better ap Phobos has one single kit thats worth even considering to buy with infiltrators/incursors everything else is to bad to consider putting into a army I can tolerate the power capris for the sake of lighter armored marines which is cool but i just use them as intercessors
I wish Phobos had some *customizable* characters, as all of the ones we have are entirely single-pose with no wargear options. Terminator, Tacticus and Gravis captain not only have multiple models, at least one of each has multiple left- and right arm options, but not a single one of the Phobos characters has that. (Also, the Phobos captain is basically Sevastus Acheran, and the SM2 game only makes that *extremely* clear.) I love the Phobos armor styling and I'm slowly building up a Vanguard company, but I want some more options.
I have also seen discussion if running him solo outside of Vanguard as a durable character. Keep hum out of shooting lanes and hold an objective on your opponent's weak side to draw units forward.
The phobos librarian has such a cool model. It's not even fair!
my Gravis Captain became a legend in his first game, survived in a sustained combat against none other than the Swarmlord over three turns eventually taking his head and moving on to survive the game in an epic, sturdy and devastating first attempt from this bad boy, no enhacements, double power fist 😎 absolute Daddy
The best use for a Reiver Lt is as a paper weight , and even in that function he'll be outdone by many other things
He looks really cool if you take the extra effort to fix his emperor blessed power capris
I hope you’re having a good day
I play one leading Eradicators in my Dark Angel’s army because Unforgiven Task Force has a 1cp fall back, shoot and charge stratagem which is very useful so you can avoid getting tied up and keep the melta blasts coming and then charge back in with the double fist Captain. It also has a get back up enhancement on the Captain making him very difficult to shift off a point in 5 turns.
Unforgiven Task Force has some great strategems. I feel it has some strength for a veteran type army.. Bladeguard? 1 OC. Bladeguard in Unforgiven Taskforce when battleshocked? 1 OC.
Drinking game: Take a shot every time he says "of course". Get wasted. Good video though.
You can modify the Strength, AP, and Damage of Extra Attack weapons no problem: it's just their Attack values that can't be modified. So for example a Firestorm Gravis Captain with War-Tempered Artifice would be swinging around a S7 relic chainsword/S8 relic blade/S11 relic fist. Likewise a Blood Angels Gravis Captain in the Liberator Assault Group detachment would get +2S to any of the relic profiles on the charge. And so on and so forth with whatever other Strength buffs you can find in the various Marine detachments! 🥊
I find him to be a great tough annoying lone op in vanguard with the cloak tbh
Something you could of mentioned is that he can get Artificer Armour in Gladius, which makes him even more tanky with T6, 2+sv, 4+ invuln and a 5+ FNP
Literally the most pointless upgrade for him or any other captain. He already HAS a 2+ and a 4++..... You'd be better on throwing that on non-captain leaders, especially ones in deathballs that could be precisioned out, to ensure they can survive.
@@william9557captains don’t have a 2+ save naturally
@@william9557 Gravis captain has a 3+ save, so he gains a better save and a fnp.
@william9557 He has a 3+ save naturally, the upgrade gives him a 2+ save and a 5+fnp
I love my Gravis Captain with thief of secrets in Black Spear Task Force. 5A S9 AP3 D3 power fist plus 3A S5 AP2 D3 chain sword. Once he's killed something he gets an extra strength, AP, and damage. I like to have him leading an Indomitor Kill Team, with an Apothecary Biologis with Beacon Angelis. 410 points total for 12 deep striking gravis bodies, led by this melee monster who can also give them free SIA strats on all of their various bolters or teleportatium. Competitive? Maybe not. Fun and fluffy? Absolutely. Also: you said extra attacks cannot be modified. That only applies to the attacks characteristic, not the other characteristics.
Where does it say you cant change the strength of AP of Extra Attacks? Maybe im missing it.
Extra attacks can't change the number of attacks, but every other stat can be buffed.
You just can't give them extra attacks.
My mistake I think i was just mixing up old rules with modern ones
Just wanted to point out the stormlance enhancement is sadly only for mounted characters.
I was playing a casual game with friends the other day. His Old One Eye and two Carnifexes got punched out by my Dark Angels Gravis Captain using Weapons of the First Legion from the Unforgiven detachment. The Tyrannids damage 1 bounced off the attached Heavy Intercessors and they got smooshed by the damage 3 Powerfist.
I managed to get him to legendary in a crusade. He had the Anvil 2+ return enhancement, a 5+ FNP, half damage from his ability, and his power fist was upgraded to get 6 attacks, damage 3 very luckily. He also eventually got the relic that gave him D3 heal each command phase which turned into a mortal wound pool. Also the Apothecary Biologis had a relic power fist.
@@Sonof_DRN2004 Sounds unstoppable.
My captain as well as a group of terminators charged old one eye and friends and did 2 damage. And then got wiped from the board xD
@@uwesca6263 In my case Old One Eye had 10 Heavy Intercessors to chew on while my Captain was using him for a punching bag.
Man, imagine my surprise to pulling up a video on the stats of a jump pack captain to hear Guilty Gear OST in the background. Love to see it
I love this guy in Champions of Russ with the Black Death enhancement and using a thunder hammer. Those 4+ dev wounds against monsters and vehicles are crazy. Plus if he has his squad that's extra mortals on the charge. And they have access to grenades 🎉
Leandros wishes he was this cool.
I think if reivers had pistol 2 and their gun option was 18” pistol/assault 3 with the ability to spend a command point for you to nominate a target model or unit for assassination where the reivers did 5+ mortals to them, they’d be better.
Will you be reviewing the chapter-specific Epic Heroes from the Space Marine Codex at all? Calgar, Shrike, Lysander, Agatone, etc?
yeah im starting to research up on the various chapter's probably do shrike and them before the ultra marines
@@spoonsrattling Cool, I was thinking about them because I have a Kayvaan Shrike model that I plan to use as a generic Jump Pack Captain in my Ultramarines army
Love this guy. Run him with a squad in Gladius with honour vehement if points allow. He’s gets free rapid ingress and is such a threat due to his range. Can take out tanks fairly reliably with grenades or lance + mortals on the charge.
Do you do a big or small squad of jump intercessors?
@@yochit4224 small
@@yochit4224small - easier to rapid ingress
I wish we got a Phobos chaplain or apothecary, Idk why as I would never use them. I still think it would be fun
it would be nice to put them alongside a reiver squad that was buffed, actually? like if they made the reivers a little better and then a chaplain to make them more dangerous in melee, or an apothecary to make them more survivable
Imo they should give this guy Deep Strike and his knife AP-1. Then change the Reivers terror troops to be something actually useful like units they target can’t reactive move or overwatch against Reivers. They should also let Reivers take the carbines and knives not one or the other
He’s a model that’s getting phased out. They always make a model not worth taking right before it gets cut.
I’m not sure. Wasn’t he introduced in 9th with the indomitus box? Granted, you can only get him through the honoured of the chapter box.
@@stotgunvsface5092 I don’t think it will happen this edition but I wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t a bladeguard ancient datasheet next edition.
@Pedro1136 it's like spoons was saying in the video. Give him a master crafted power sword and it improves him greatly. Now a 6 man squad is alot harder to out oc on a point and has a once per game ability to bonk more. If the leader combos could be expanded to be any other leader, they could be worth it
@@stotgunvsface5092 sure he could be made into a decent option, but that’s not what GW usually does. I’d guess next edition there will only be an ancient datasheet and not a bladeguard ancient one.
