Why would you go full mass opposed to low mass? Just wondering because mine is on a nomad 30 and I’m about as low mass as you can go and it doesn’t kick at all. I think there is more to do with having a can on there at the correct gas setting rather than the mass of the system, just my thought tho.

The magazine and retaining system for the original Axis 2 is the greatest piece of rubbish ever made . Absolutely useless

I did a search today and stumbled across this video. I install my KRG Bravo this morning and was having the same results. Originally I was running the Boyds Pro Varmint and was averaging 1/2” MOA and now with the KRG I’m averaging 1”moa. It’s still early in the game and need to dive deeper into what going on. I noticed this is a year old video, but did you ever resolve your issue?

i had been looking for a deer rifle for my wife to use as mine is a 24” 7mag. borrowed an axis 1 in .243 and she liked it (me too other than the trigger.)i kept my eyes peeled for one and soon after came across an axis 2 ss in 6.5cm at walmart for less than $300. i already had a spare prostaff 3-9 laying around. grabbed some cheap weaver “grand slam” rings they had on the shelf (think they are supposed to be shotgun rings, actually) first ammunition i tried was hornady american whitetail in whichever weight was the lightest and that raggedy little bastard shot .625 with it. i know you aren’t talking deer rifles so this isn’t totally applicable to the video. i also realize that all of them aren’t going to perform the same. just sharing to speak towards the capability of the axis action. that is nuts, to me, for a $300 rifle.

How did you end up liking the Riton 5 conquer optic? Looking at picking one up.

Did you have that painted or did it come like that because I’m wondering where the magazine tube cover was painted in camo when you got it or you did that yourself?

I have the Axis II Precision in 6.5 Creedmoor. I added a bolt lift kit, swaped out the allen screws in the cheek riser adjustment for knobs, Cerakoted the forearm OD green to match the rest of the rifle, changed the grip, and added a brake and suppressor system. I had an Arken 6-24 on it as it seemed appropriate for the price range of the rifle but now it sports a Bushnell Tactical Elite XRS 4.5-30 due to how well it shoots. I just finished my load development and ran ten groups of three rounds each at 100 yards. The average was .340 with several in the quarter-inch range. I belive the gun actually shoots better but this is about all I am capable of shooting with just a bipod and rear bag. I have some high-end custom-built rifles that don't shoot as well. Makes me wonder if spending all that money is because it's necessary or just trying to be tacticool.

About crimp I've had alot of experience on that and I don't crimp I have had the bullet jam deeper but I've only had that problem with really high BC bullets with a needle type tip like berger 80gr but my AR's don't care for the real heavy bullets anyway.

Interesting. My trigger is much lighter and smoother than your stock one. I agree with you on the sights, they're great but the height is ridiculous. I run a small CCX can so I can still see over it, but its very close.

What barrel ?

I recently build an AR-10 style rifle build on the Aero Precision M5E1 upper and lower receivers plus 15" floating hand guard. For a barrel I'm running a Faxon 20" 1:10 twist with 308 Winchester chamber. I have also built a 243 Winchester. Both are quite different from each other. My goal for the 308 is to go toe to toe or even surpass the Knights Armament M110 SASS for far less money. I am limited by the SR25 magazine for COL of my cartridges. Sierra 200gr Match Kings don't have the super secant ogive of the 208gr Bergers in 7.62mm/0.308". So I won't be able to get the BC as high as with a bolt gun. But I'm still going to exceed what is available from factory loads. The Federal Gold Cup Match and the Winchester M118 Service Grade both use 175gr SMKs. I'm told the Winchesters use Alliant Reloader 15 powder. I don't know if Federal does as well. It will be interesting to compare the two. I plan to load the 200 SMKs to get that little bit of extra distance along with using the newer Alliant Reloader TS 15.5 powder with Federal 215GM primers. It should be interesting to see if I can top the factory ammo with my hand loads. It would be cool to be able to keep up with equivalent priced bolt guns, although I don't expect that to happen. I am running a 4.5lb single stage trigger that I find quite light and crisp. The reticule doesn't move when I drop the hammer.

an if the bolt doesn't close assembled on a bullet it appears the head space is to small and needs reamed some more??

Enjoyed the video, and honestly prefer long form content so don't feel bad about the length for my sake! One thing I've noticed in my precision journey on gas vs bolt action is the difference in trigger timing and movement. Bolt action triggers are usually less moving parts and from break to bang is very fast. On gas guns like ARs, I notice the slightest delay and movement as the sear breaks and the hammer swings and impacts the firing pin. So break to bang takes a bit longer and has more movement in the rifle. My personal experience has been that semi-autos require more solid follow through and natural point of aim from me as a shooter, whereas bolt actions are a little more forgiving for me. That said, I can't stop having fun and accepting the challenge with my gas precision gun.

I have a CZ-457 Varmit MTR. Wonderfully accurate with the right ammo. With the stock trigger, 2 lbs 14 oz was the best I could achieve. With an Amazon compression spring assortment kit for about $10, I was able to find one that fit. Mine now consistently breaks at 14 ounces. All I replaced was the trigger spring. Nothing else. Considering all the springs that I received from Amazon in that kit, my CZ-457 received an upgrade for about 20 cents. You think Yodave wants you to know about this?

Question for you. The Butt stock adjustment screws. There's 2 screws on the back to loosen and remove LOP spacers. But the upper screw is to long when the spacers are removed. When the screws were reinstalled, the screw pulled the upper brass insert out because the screw is to long without the spacers. Do you have any suggestions for fixing this problem? Thanks

So I just purchased a axis ll precision, pick it up this Saturday(2 days away) and was wondering what I could do to it to improve it even though I’ve been told it comes stock as a very dependable accurate rifle and your video was helpful. I will be doing the lift kit and bolt handle after I shoot it and get a good feel for the rifle. I will also be doing a supresser as well. I’m very excited, this is my first bolt action and can’t wait to get out to the range. Thanks for the info and thanks for the informative video!

Got a savage access II. Got it at Walmart in Naples, Florida for $388 out the door. As you know, the trigger sucks. I ended up getting a Jard trigger. After playing with several spring loads, I ended up setting it up at 11 ounces. All my 700 style rifles run a diamond trigger from trigger Tech at 10 1/2 ounces. I am very comfortable with a pool. We never had an issue love the Jard trigger for my savage. It cannot be compared to a trigger tech, but it runs good. Usually I only buy 700 action rifles. This one when I bought it for my kid when he was very young it was a good price.

Couldnt be happier with my Axis II. I bought the 18" heavy barrel 6.5cm and dropped it in the oryx chassis. Desh bolt lift kit and anarchy bolt handle and knob. I love it and its shoots very tight groups. I cant understand why so many people hate on the Savage Axis line? Everyone ive shot or seen shoots very well

I put a few of those Desh bolt lift kits in my Savages 👍. Also installed the extractor/ejector upgrade kits. Soft bolt cycling no longer drops cases in/on ejection port or mag. Even loaded cartridges fling out nicely. Got my replacement tactical bolt handle (O.E.M.)from Midway USA for $25. First one I got was from Glades and stuck me for over $60. All upgrades combined (less Glades) ran just under $100 per bolt. Quite happy with results.

Why close dust cover?

I just want to confirm that this mod is functioning with out malfunction. I want to do this on my A300. But I am in contact with Beretta support but they do not concur that the 1301 lifter is compatible with the A300. I am doublechecking as they may not understand that I am talking about the Beretta 1301 Tactical Carrier, Pro Style lifter/carrier.

Is that an Anarchy or sterk bolt handle?

Please comment on your bullet seating depth regarding maximum mag length. I ask because it appears your bolt action has a detachable magazine that maybe also maximum cartridge length limited. Unless you single feed only. Good discussion.

I prefer a bolt action for precision shots.

I’m waiting on my parts but I’m building and AR-10 with a Creedmore 6.5 24” carbon fiber barrel and match set trigger and receiver, adjustable gas black and PRS buttstock, once it’s built and fired, I’ll come back and tell you how it felt. 😊

Forster says if bolt closes on No-Go, but does not close on Field gage,,,, The rifle is still serviceable.

I just put together my own 733, i underestimated how frigging loud it would be

I bought my Axis II Precision in 223 back in February and almost immediately added the Desh bolt kit with an extended bolt handle/knob from glades. It immediately smoothed out the action. I run an 8 inch suppressor which eliminates the recoil and the noise. I adjusted the AccuTrigger and have no issues with it. Also added a JKL Precision bag rider for buttstock stability. I chose the 223 due to my reloading system is already setup for that caliber to do my AR's. The economy of shooting 223 allows me to shoot close to 400 rounds a week without breaking the bank. It's a solid combination that has allowed me to improve my shooting skills in many ways, especially in reloading ammo specific to precision shooting. It's easily capable of ringing steel out to 700 yards+. I'm not a competitive shooter, and this isn't a PRS gun IMO, but with the right ammo, it's very accurate and capable of shooting sub MOA groups. Really enjoyed your review!
