NicaFelt
Приєднався 6 жов 2011
No matter the instrument, my motto is to always infuse my own style and create something that feels true to me. I explore music’s potential, hoping my tracks bring a little peace to the world.
NicaFelt is the solo project of Hosei Tatemizu from Japan, keyboardist of the electronica band TINÖRKS. The name combines "Nica" (electronic sound) and "Felt" (soft texture).
Since March 2024, NicaFelt has been crafting LoFi-tinged ambient music influenced by early 2000s electronica. Using keyboards, samplers, modular synths, and more, the sound blends minimalistic motifs, soft textures, and improvisation.
NicaFelt’s creative process includes outdoor recordings, performance videos, and live improvisation. I share music production tips on Medium, and you’re welcome to message me with any questions!

Torso S-4 x Modern Sounds Pluto - Autumn Ambient Session
🍂 As autumn drew to a close, I took the Torso S-4 and Modern Sounds Pluto out to a spot where the fall foliage was breathtaking and had a classic ambient jam session.
For this session, I connected Pluto directly to the S-4 and applied effects. I didn’t use any tracks from the S-4 itself but focused on crafting the sound using its granular effects as the centerpiece. I also layered in filter, dynamics, and spatial effects to shape the overall atmosphere.
The interplay between the autumnal colors of the leaves and the subtle, drifting motion of ambient sound spreading through the space was truly beautiful. It felt like the essence of the season was captured in both sight and sound. 🍁✨
Wishing you a calm and wonderful day!
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the track-feel free to leave a comment. Questions are more than welcome too! 😊🎶

Piano Resonance: NI Noire Meets Torso S-4
Переглядів 23328 днів тому
As winter approaches, I composed a tranquil piano piece using NI Noire Piano, aiming to evoke a quiet warmth. While the raw piano sound was naturally acoustic, I wanted to add an ambient touch. To achieve this, I ran the recorded piano through the Torso S-4, enhancing it with unique textures. 🌙🎹 The granular synthesis on the S-4 posed some challenges in crafting the exact sound I envisioned. LoFi Chill Hop Vibes - Model:Cycles & Shallow Water
Переглядів 486Місяць тому
At my last gig, another performer accidentally knocked my Model:Cycles to the floor, chipping the corner and denting the body. I sent it back to the manufacturer for repairs, and it’s finally home! To celebrate, I put together a new track. It’s a short Lo-Fi Chill Hop vibe run through the Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water. The loop is simple, but the texture and unique warble that SW adds are i...
Model:Cycles jam session - Cinematic Deep House | Free Project Files Download

I created a Cinematic Deep House track using only the Elektron Model:Cycles. It’s built by manually connecting a range of patterns, layering synth strings, and weaving in atmospheric sound effects. The track evolves from a slow, laid-back intro, building up with rhythm into a dynamic, dramatic shift, leading to a groovy section in the second half. If this track moves you in any way, don’t hesit...

I've finally taken on the challenge of creating the deep house track I've always wanted to make with Elektron Model:Cycles. It's set to a groovy 128 BPM, complete with intro and outro to create a cohesive journey. I hope the soothing sounds take you on a relaxing trip through your day. If you get a chance to listen, I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments! I'll be making the project file...
Piano Ambient: Hologram Microcosm Soundscape

A short piece featuring the sampled una corda piano on the KORG microSAMPLER. I crafted an ambient vibe with the Hologram Microcosm, and I love the floating sensation created by the chord progression. This track is almost finished, but since it was recorded with a smartphone, the recording quality, mix, and mastering aren't perfect, so it's just a demo. I'll be re-recording it in a DAW later. W...
ChillHop Sunset Beats: Jamming with YAMAHA SU10 Sampler
Переглядів 3376 місяців тому
Using nothing but the YAMAHA SU10 sampler from 1995, I crafted some ChillHop beats. With a max sampling time of 39 seconds (in Long mode) and 11 mono samples, I recorded by hitting the pads manually, without any sequencer. The SU10’s specs are laughably low by today’s standards-only 4-note polyphony-so making tracks was a serious challenge. After a lot of trial and error, I finally nailed a tak...
Model:Cycles Under The Tree - old techno/electronica chill out

The weather was great, so I took my Elektron Model:Cycles to the park and shot a video with an old-school techno vibe. I was going to use an unfinished track, but it felt lacking, so I quickly programmed a snare and bass line. Without a MIDI keyboard, it was a bit tricky, but I managed to create a solid groove. As I played, I tweaked a few parameter knobs, changing up the sound and improvising ...
Elektron Model:Cycles + HOLOGRAM Microcosm Loop - Ambient Session

A soothing ambient track featuring loops of a HOKEMA kalimba, a Goldon metallophone, and a Koshi chime processed through the HOLOGRAM Microcosm. I layered these with tracks and live parts from the Elektron Model:Cycles, as well as some ukulele. I took my GoPro9 to the park and captured video footage of the lush greenery, which I then combined with my performance video. For the Model:Cycles, I c...

Beautiful 🙌👍👍 I love the Pluto 🤍
Thank you for listening! 🎧😊 I absolutely love the sound of the Pluto too, including its design! 🎶✨ It’s such an amazing experience!
Early Trentemoller vibes, for sure
Thank you for your feedback. I haven’t had the chance to listen to Trentemøller before, but if my music resonates with a similar atmosphere, I’m truly honored.
Incredible that you can play all this music from 6 voices/tracks. Really like the sweet tones & vibes you have set up here.
Thank you so much for your kind feedback! The Model:Cycles is filled with musical possibilities, and I truly enjoy bringing my ideas to life with it. It really is an outstanding instrument.
Amazing atmospheric sound. Nice!
Thank you for listening! I truly appreciate your kind feedback-it means a lot to me. During the mixing process, I struggled with handling the high frequencies in this track. I tried various approaches, but in the end, I had to compromise as I couldn’t achieve the results I was aiming for.
Amazing track! Love the whole flow, sounds very soothing.
Thanks for listening! I’m really digging the tight beat myself-it’s got that perfect groove!
Great video thanks. Could you answer a couple of questions please... Can you keep loops running and change inputs from line in to microphone and if so could the input change be used to mute the microphone? Does the line input/microphone work with the binaural beats section? How do the songs used on the elements interact with sound inputed from the microphone or line in? Is there a way to turn the songs off and use them as tunings like version 1? Is it possible to adjust the tempo like version 1? Thanks.
Thank you so much for listening to my music! 🎶 Here are my answers to your questions: ==== >Can you keep loops running... Although it's not shown in the performance video, I’m using an analog mixer before sending the signal to the audio interface. Here's the setup: ① Condenser microphone (SE8) → Mixer (MACKIE 802 VLZ4) | Mixer (Main out) → Glo (in) | Glo (out) → Audio interface ② Mixer (ALT out) → Audio interface (in) ③ Keyboard (microSAMPLER) → Audio interface (in) In the performance, the mic audio goes to the Glo via the mixer, while the keyboard (microSAMPLER) connects directly to the audio interface. So, as long as the equipment is connected to the mixer, Glo can accept any input, whether it’s a mic or line input. ==== >Does the line input/microphone... As mentioned above, using a mixer before sending audio to the Glo should make this possible. ==== >How do the songs used on the elements... While I don’t fully understand Glo's internal mechanics, my impression is that when using Elements, the chords are pre-defined. Any audio input to the Glo seems to be transformed into those predetermined chord tones. ==== >Is there a way to turn the songs... Unfortunately, I haven’t used Glo Version 1, so I’m not sure about this feature. ==== >Is it possible to adjust the tempo... Again, as I haven’t used Glo Version 1, I can’t provide an answer here. Sorry about that! ==== For more details about this performance, I’ve written a blog post (in Japanese) that explains the setup in depth, including the equipment connections. Feel free to use a translation tool if you're interested! 😊 🔗 note.com/sasayakanarumono/n/n0810224ff393

Very pretty, and I think you just sold a Korg microSampler...
Thanks! To be honest, the microSampler came out ages ago and isn’t sold anymore, so it might be pretty hard to find, even secondhand. That’s why my video probably isn’t much help if you’re looking to buy one, haha. Also, with samplers, the quality really depends on the samples you use. The microSampler doesn’t have a multi-sampling feature, so I imported individual samples for each key and played them. The sound is beautiful, and I’m really happy with it!
@nicafelt oh they are on Reverb. I see you can't do ASDR though, so that may be a deal breaker. I have a Chompi though, so really similar functions just smaller keys.
@@Eli_B3000 I didn't know that used gear is sold on Reverb! The Chompi is a great sampler too! The design and user interface are really good, and I think it’s more powerful and offers more creative possibilities than the microSampler.👍
@@nicafelt Yeah I picked it up used so the price wasn't as bad as when it came out and it's got a lot of very cool options. They just expanded sample slots as well.
You’ve got a microSampler too? That’s awesome! Personally, I feel like the MIDI features on the microSampler are a bit lacking, but if they ever release an upgraded Mk2 with much better MIDI functionality, it’d be an amazing product. 😊
Very cool.
😀👍👍👍✨✨✨
Your cycles is looking so fresh n clean with that slick beat.
Thanks! Have a great day with some chill beats!😎👍
Very nice!

@@nicafeltyou should release these on Bandcamp :)
Thank you for your encouraging message! Once I finish a few more tracks on the Model:cycles, I plan to compile them into an album.
Sounds very good! You are truly professional with model cycles
Thank you for listening to my music! I'm so happy to receive such kind feedback! There are so many expressive possibilities with Model:cycles, and I don't think I've fully mastered it yet. The more I explore Model:cycles, the more new ideas come to mind, and it's both challenging and fun to think about how to incorporate them into my music.
Youve got tons of natural talent and vibe. Your music is the best I've heard on youtube in the electronic music jams. Thank you for sharing. :)
Thank you so much for listening to my music and for sharing such an incredibly kind comment! I'm thrilled to know that something in my music resonates with you or that we can connect on some level through it.
Sounds more tightly controlled and thought through than anything I’ve made with my syntakt. I tip my hat to you, great stuff.
Thank you for your comment! I'm really glad to receive such flattering words! The Syntakt can create great sounds and offers more functionality, so there's a lot of potential for music! Wishing you a calm and wonderful day!
most probably best track i heard made with the cycles :D
Thanks for listening to the track! I'm super stoked to get such an amazing compliment!

Beautiful and inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing this, and don't ever stop creating your art ❤️
Thank you for listening as well! I hope to continue creating high-quality music that offers meaningful insights.😀👍👍👍
Turns out that at a high enough skill level, the M:C does not actually have to sound like the M:C. Amazing work.
Thank you for listening to the song! In creating this piece, I aimed to incorporate as many ideas as I could think of at this stage of my development. I have particularly focused on crafting sounds that match the overall atmosphere of the song. There are many possibilities when it comes to music production with model:cycles, and paradoxically, I feel that the more constraints there are, the more interesting the resulting work can be. However, since things often don’t go as planned, I believe it's essential to consider how to face those challenges and find a balance.
I didn't expect this to be SO GOOD when I clicked on the video
Thank you for listening! It's a song that I really love myself. I'm glad to hear that there was something that resonated with you!

do you do any mixing or post processing after recording?
Thank you so much for listening!! Yes, I do. Before recording, I adjust the individual track balances on Model:Cycles as much as possible, and then I record a 2-mix into Logic Pro. After that, I use plugins like the 'ABBEY ROAD TG Mastering Chain' for mastering in Logic.
@@nicafelt Thank you for the info! Really love your music. very peaceful and inspiring. Thanks for what you do!

Simply stunning - thank you so much. Amazing the expression you’re able to wring out of the synth voices without any conventional filter… floored!! Time to whip out my Cycles from the shelf and work out what I’ve been doing wrong all this time 😅
Thanks so much for listening to my track! 🎧 This gear may feel really limiting compared to DAW, but I believe that’s exactly what pushes the creator’s ideas to the max. 💡 I hope you discover something new when you start creating with your Cycles again! 😃👍🎶✨

Fun tastic!

As a relatively new artist on the scene, I feel immense pain looking at that 216 views and 14 Likes. I can tell you put a lot of effort into making this, while others are banging out the same old patterns/beats over and over again amassing thousands if not millions of views with close to zero effort. Hope you'll get blessed by the algorithm one day, this track definitely deserves it.
Thank you so much for listening to my track! 🎶 I'm really happy that you understand the effort it takes to create music. I truly hope more LoFi chill hop lovers will get the chance to hear this song. Wishing you a wonderful day ahead! ☀️😊
this is such a cool project but i feel like every video i hear of it the audio seems heavily distorted and just too loud. can you adjust the input volume of glo v2?
Thank you so much for listening to my track! 🎶 I checked the volume and while there is some musical saturation, the audio itself isn’t distorted, so it might depend on your listening environment. The input volume of the Glo v2 can be adjusted. I recommend checking the manual on the manufacturer’s official website for more details.😊
you have an exceptional grasp on this machine
Thanks for listening to the track! I've been able to grasp the basics of this gear by applying general music knowledge I've picked up over time, but I’m still not using all of its features. It's exciting to discover something new every time I create a track.😀
