Health in the Nordic Countries: Equity for the Sámi People, Too (with Dr. Petter Stoor)
Originally recorded on October 30th, 2024.
More than 100,000 Indigenous Sámi live in Sápmi - the traditional homelands of the Sámi people, stretching from mid-Norway and Sweden across northern Finland and into Russia on the Kola peninsula. Drawing from a central Sámi political statement of “the Sámi people being worth neither more nor less than other peoples of the world”, Dr. Stoor expands upon the contemporary situation regarding Sámi health, focusing on his area of expertise: mental health among Sámi in Sweden.
NOTE: The data shown in the presentation on exposure to violence against Sámi women and Swedish women in general is based on data collected different years. The Swedish national data was collected in 2017, while the Sámi data was collected in 2021. Thus, the time difference in data collection may have influenced response patterns, for example relating to changing norms as effect of the #metoo-movement, or relating to the COVID-19 pandemic (ongoing in 2021). For this reason, the authors Brandén, Nilsson, Burman, San Sebastián & Stoor (2024) interpret the findings as showing that Sámi women are exposed to at least the same levels of violence exposure as Swedish women in general. This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen on the internet. Thanks a lot for sharing ❤
I would love to see a follow up to this talk. What a great talk! I wish this the subject matter can be followed up on a annual basis so we may learn. Thank you for all that you do.
I'm sorry to hear the elite agenda ( and Mr. Lyons embarking in that 'mindset' ) making us believe that we are to many people on this planet, and the existential crisis is described very well on the Hopi 'philosophical stone'! The problem is the allocation of resources to the few, and nothing left for the many. I'm so deceived to hear Oren Lyons speak like the white devils, no more sharing his sayings and listening to him!

Time 4 the truth 2 surface
The truth is we cannot live without water. The truth is we r greedy.
The value of your wealth is much more valuable than the wealth of most people I am surrounded with. I have always told them that I am so wealthy in my soul and I am not defined by my bank account, and I truly know this. Nobody had to tell me this, it is something I know and feel within me. I believe if we listen to the birds, the animals and the trees we are blessed and know this to be true. I have always been provided guidance in this way. Thank you for your teachings and history lesson. Your love is unconditional appreciated. ❤️🌲
We approach. Time of great. Changes this country is heading towards economic collapse, the time to prepare for this is now. Put in your gardens, learn the wild plants, establish your trapline for meat. The entire world is blinded, your people know the warnings- take heed
