How do you cast off?
Thank you so much! I’m hoping to repurpose a bunch of the random acrylic skeins I have into new handspun yarns that I will love!
You are very welcome! I hope you love the results.
So is how the cast on is done is only for the cast on?? Not other rows? What about cast off?
Yes, you only tighten the cast on and then go on knitting as normal. Here is The cast off I use with this cast on. ua-cam.com/video/1BA7m82ds8k/v-deo.htmlsi=fWjoPE1Ws2eq4taV
You mention this would be good for a scarf... does this stitch look the same on both sides?
It's a reversible stitch. You get two different designs. One one on each side. The backside looks like a basketweave design.
This is great technique! Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Would you recommend a cast off that will match this snug cast on for figure 8 stitch. Thank you!
This is the cast off I do with this cast on. ua-cam.com/video/1BA7m82ds8k/v-deo.htmlsi=fWjoPE1Ws2eq4taV
Omgosh gorgeous
TFS excellent tutorial and great suggestions. Quote “I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year” -Charles Dickens. New subbie. Happy Holidays. Huge HUGS and Peace. Namesta 🐞❄️🐞
You are so welcome! And Merry Christmas to you too! 😄
Thank you so much! This is the most comprehensive instructional I have been able to find, and easy to follow along to as well. You have such a sweet accent. Many thanks again from Australia!!
You are very welcome! I'm glad I could help. 😊 You mentioned my accent, I'm from North Carolina, U.S.A.
I am so incredibly grateful you made this video! I was in the group when I had facebook. I no longer use facebook and thought of Brandie when my husband wanted a new scarf. Thank you so so so very much!!!!
You're very welcome! Glad I could help.
Thank you so much for this information. No more loose cast on 😊
You're very welcome!
Bless you! Thank you for this video! I discovered last night that I joined my edges and it made me so sick.
You're very welcome!😊
I have watched several videos on making paper beads you showed several things that could be used for making beads and i enjoyed your video do you do any junk journal making or glue books ?????
Thank you! I've never tried junk journaling or glue books.
Would a super stretchy bind off work on this? Or would it be too heavy?
Yes, it will. That is exactly the bind off I used for this shawl.
Thank you Christie!
You're very welcome
Quick question for you Christie. I am also a left handed person and usually work counter clockwise. Is there a reason that you are working clockwise for this project? I am going to start this pattern now and prefer to work counter clockwise (for purling), unless you think otherwise. Thanks!
You can work in either direction you want to. It won't affect the pattern at all.
Can't wait to try this one. Thanks Christie!
You're very welcome!
I'm going too tried that. Yet that is nice. Color
Why didn’t I ever think of a sponge for the glue?? The under of my table is almost ruined 😅
LOL
All paper beaders are here learning a thing or two or more 😊
I am going to use this cast on with your Autumn Inspired scarf. Thank you Christie!
You are so welcome!
Where's the cheapest place to get the spinner thing if I'm just wanting to try it out?
Go to Etsy.com in the shop named Walnut Farm Designs. Get this spindle in a top whorl. I think it's $9. This would be a good starter spindle. www.etsy.com/listing/194305764/top-whorl-drop-spindle-bottom-whorl?click_key=63bd5d92240aa4439532348916e1333a79535f4a%3A194305764&click_sum=e417dc6b&ref=shop_home_active_9

You're very welcome, and thank you for your kind words.
Beautiful design
Thank you!
Brilliant video thank you! Just wondering do they get damaged when you break them apart? X
Thank you! Not at all. As long as they are fully dried, they will just snap apart with no issues. I like to leave mine to fully dry at least 24 hours.
Awesome, thanks so much!❤
You are so welcome!
I love this cast on technique. Do you have one for casting off?
Thank you! Yes, this is the cast off I use. ua-cam.com/video/1BA7m82ds8k/v-deo.html

You are so welcome!
Great video, very informative! Thanks 😊x
You are so welcome!
Great idea
where can I buy the cotter pin loom? I've been looking for a while on line. Help please and thanks :)
Cottage Looms on Etsy used to make them. They don't have a shop on Etsy anymore selling looms. I am not sure if they take special orders or not now. However, if you are looking specifically for a loom with metal pegs, check out Kiss Looms. They aren't cotter pin pegs, but what makes them different is their peg/pin design. You can find them at kisslooms.com, and you can also see how they work by doing a search on youtube.
Great tutorial!
Thank you!
Hi kk from nz perfect rolling of your beads i will have to find a bead roller that size wasnt into using lot strips until i see you trim the ends ok great tutorial learnt alot thanks very thorough more vids bye from kk nz
I'm a left handed to but this is the first time for me for the loom knitting. Thank you for this video very much ! ❤
You’re welcome 😊
I heard your mention of PVA glue. What is an issue with it, please?
There is no issue with PVA glue. Elmers School Glue and Glue All are types of PVA glue.
How do you add on?
Could you be more specific? Do you mean add more fiber to your spindle or getting started with your spindle or something else?
Can I use wool noodles from rug hooking to do this?
I am not familiar with rug hooking or wool noodles that you mentioned.
Thank you. I am new to this and I cannot get the beginning tight enough. I am right handed but I do everything like this the opposite like I am left handed. I don’t know why 😂😂
This method should definitely help you have a tighter, neater edge.
It sure did ! Thank you for making this video
Hi Christie, I was wondering if this stitch also works in the round... Thanks! Lucy T
You can work this stitch in the round, but it won't look the same. When working, the stitch flat panel rows 3 and 4 have alternating purl stitches because you are working one direction and turning and going in the opposite direction. When this stitch would be worked in the round withrows 3 and 4, the purls would all be on the same peg going in one direction instead of turning with a flat panel. Parentheses representing wrapping 2 pegs as one, Flat panel Example: Row3: ( k, k) p Row 4: ( k, k) p For the in-the-round it would look like this: Row 3: ( k, k ) p Row 4: ( k, k ) p I hope this makes sense.
Can you tell me how wide to cut the strips? I love the beads you make. Your voice is very soothing, and you took the time to explain. I made several different beads years ago and just recently, started again.
Thank you for your kind words. They are much appreciated. These particular strips were ½ inch at the wide end cut down to a pointed taper at the small end. If you wanted them even larger, you could definitely make them 1" at the largest end instead of ½".
I have a ? But can't find a recent video,,when using coconut oil to coat your toothpicks " do you soak them or just rub it on & let dry? Idk 🤷♀️ any recipes on treating your toothpicks or skewers? I hadn't worked with them til now,,much more comfortable,,but didn't know how to treat until now thank you so much! ❤
I really didn't measure how much coconut I used. What I did do was dump a whole box of rounded toothpicks in container with a fitted lid and if I were to guess maybe start with a teaspoon amount of pure coconut oil and coat them all with your hands moving them around and back and forth. I left my cover off for a day or 2 and went back a few times a day to make sure all the tooth picks were good and covered moving them around. If they need more coconut oil, add more, but I didn't need to. If they seem to have too much coconut oil, add more toothpicks. After a couple of days, I put the lid on and left them. Store them in a cool, dry place. I have some I coated years ago and still use them. I haven't had to add any more oil, either. They will eventually absorb all the oil and last for a long time. Don't put them in the refrigerator. If you do the coconut oil, you will go back to solid form again.A shelf where it's cool at room temperature will work just fine.
Also, if you want to add essential oils, you can. If you do decide to add essential oils, I would put your coconut oil in a bowl and add the oil(s) you desire and then mix completely with a spoon before adding to your toothpicks. This way, the oil(s) will be evenly distributed.
