Hello dear aviation friends,
Welcome to the SANICOLE Airshow 2024! This is our first video from Sanicole 2024 and it was the very first time ever that we visited an airshow. It sure didn't disappoint!
We start off this video with a brand new Belgian Air Force Airbus A400M. It succeeded the legendary C-130 Hercules and is quickly making a name for itself. 8 A400Ms are stationed at Melsbroek, one of which belongs to the Luxembourg Air Force, and are considered ‘game-changers’ in terms of new capabilities within the air force. They are used for both strategic and tactical transport all over the world.
Next are the ThunderTigers which belong to the Belgian Air Force 31 squadron from Kleine-Brogel. The F-16s present a combination of tactical manoeuvres and precise formations. All pilots in this formation are active fighter pilots and they bring a very different and unique performance compared to other teams because they have to fit their training into tactical training missions.
We continue with the Avro Lancaster, a four-engined heavy bomber that dominated the night skies during World War II. With its imposing wingspan and four powerful Merlin engines, the Lancaster was a fearsome aircraft that dropped devastating loads on strategic targets across Europe. During Operation Market Garden, the daring Allied airborne invasion of the Netherlands in 1944, Lancasters played a crucial role in attacking key targets before the planned parachute drops took place.
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) Lancaster is one of only two remaining flying examples in the world.
We finish the first Sanicole 2024 video with Soloturk. Turkey is the largest user of the F-16 outside the United States. Since 2011, they have been traveling around Europe and Asia with their beautifully painted Soloturk F-16. The aircraft is a modern F-16C Block 30 and is stationed near Ankara. The display aircraft is painted in gloss black with gold accents. The crescent and star symbolize the loyalty and value that the Turkish Air Force places on the Turkish nation and flag, while the brilliant eagle represents the determination and freedom that is ingrained in the soul of the aviators. The black and gray diagonal lines that reach the nose of the aircraft point to the characteristics of aviation such as swift action, constant progress and boundless ambition, while the silver star indicates Turkey's ambition to become the star of the 21st century.
