Moscow, Idaho to Troy, Idaho by Bike

The Latah Trail runs fifteen miles from Moscow, Idaho, where I live, to Troy, Idaho along a former railroad grade. From my house I passed through a roundabout under construction to the edge of Moscow, then onto the trail. Between Moscow and Troy the trail passes the edge of the Palouse Prairie where wheat farming predominates, goes under Idaho State Route 8, and into a more wooded area before p...

Bike Ride on Old White Bird Grade, Idaho

Built in 1915 to connect the northern, skinny, part of Idaho where forest predominate to the southern, potato growing, part of Idaho, the climb is 2900 feet in 14 miles from the small town of White Bird to the summit at 4,429 feet. A newer alignment of US 95 replaced this section, so there is now little traffic. I've ridden the section from south of White Bird to the summit every year for the l...

Brian, W7BJN, put up a 90 foot TRI-EX TM490 crank up tower and a steppIR DB-36 yagi at the top. This video documents that effort.
110 foots only? А great way to stroke your ego and create a video about it. While 4SQ will work 100% more efficiently with ten times less investment. 73!
Yep.. agreed here.. This video is All Show
DIY Clear Channel Station!
Finally a decent tower/Antenna install
an antenna and tower like this is every hams dream!💪
New life goal unlocked
Nice video well done 👍
Looks Great / Lotta Dollars Involved Here / But.... Whos Gonna Service That Big 3 Element When Lightning Nails It? Whos Gonna Maintain that Beauty ?
Must be nice to have that kind of dollars to play radio with!
Greetings from New Zealand love your video CQDX Hello World ZL3BP
Nice to hear that a New Zealand person found it interesting.
Beautiful....💯👍
Thank you. I'm pleased that you thought so.
Yah , looking at how your trying to set up that tower , in the thumbnail . Well you have it half right . I did notice the slack line going from the top of the tower past the bottom to a possible anker points . The army has a technique for doing that and no one will get hurt . AND HOPEFULLY YOU DONT DROP IT , THAT YOU BREAK THE ANTENNA AT THE TOP ! I’m thinking of the 292 , and the OE 254 . So I’m also thinking you’re going to need your car to tow it up . If all the ropes and cables are the same distance and at equal distance apart and from the base . You could have it up in 10 seconds . It’s a trick , I assure you , to do it by yourself . It helps though if you have help .
Thank you for the suggestions. I'll pass them along to the set-up crew for next year.
That is a pretty fancy set up! Thanks for the video.
Hi Randy, do you know the person two doors up from you that has the Rohn tower in their yard? I wonder if they's want to sell it. I'm looking for some tower pieces. It doesn't look like they are using it for anything and it's maybe a 20-25 foot tower. If you know anything please let me know. Thank you.
Yes, I do know his name. Let's take this discussion to email. My address is rbfoltz at gmail.com.
that would be a nice antenna for my QRP radio...
Only 4 anchor bolts that only threads to less than one inch to the concrete floor? .. I would re-think the whole mounting mechanism of that tower!
Was it worth it like to see him work the radio
Great... You win. Nothing more to say other than you win with all your awards, resources and money. Interestingly enough, 99% of all Hams around the world could not afford anything close to what you have. You should have awards with the amount of money you spent in amateur equipment. I am happy talking 10 meters over seas on only 60 watts and a wire in my tree. By the way... I did achieve my Technician, General, and Amateur Extra in three months. I have that going for me....
как же круто живут в США все чисто и аккуратно! 73!
VERY GOOD !!!!GDX !!!from US4ET Victor.73!!!!!
I drive by those antennas every week. I bet you get out ok even though you're kind of in a hole. Keep up the good work!!!! 73 my good friend
Yes, a bit of a hole, but the path to JA land is good and the one to Europe isn't as blocked as the southern Africa one.
Nice video. I'm running the 75A-2 and my transmitter is the WRL Globe King 500C. I love these radios which have incredible audio. 73
That's a mighty big antenna you're putting up just to listen to some old dudes complain about aches, and pains, and when their next VA appointment is. 🤣 Very cool. 👍
hahhaha that's 80m for ya!
What is the wind survival of an antenna that big?
why 80 though? thats a lot of effort to rag chew.
Low band DX is possible
You got more balls than I have Sir. That is high and I like the tower Sri
Wow I can't believe how blatant the sad hams are being here. Awesome antenna and awesome tower setup my guy.
What a cool Antenna/Tower installation, top notch all the way. I have heard it on 80 meters and it does a very nice job. 73 , W7HTX. Great video, nicely done. 💯🆒📻📡
Very nice enjoy the fun of this antenna.

When you're taking amateur radio to seriously.
Not of any use to the average Ham . I wouldn't want to know the cost of all this , price of a house lol
Why negative comments? Wish I had real estate and the money...enjoy!!!!
Yeah, me too, but I would but in a 40-10 setup. I'm not a fan of 80 except for NVIS work on the ECOM nets locally.
Looks like you ought to be able to talk to yourself on long-path with that.
Thats not amateur radio.
Should have bought an Optibeam. He'll find out.

How did he get his HOA to approve it?
he was smart not get involved with that mess anyhow
Excellent Video. Tnx for sharing. Happy Sunday & 73 de Uncle Günter 💯👍🙋♂
I showed this to my wife. She said you're not putting that within 100 miles of our backyard!
you should've told her... "i'm not askin"
Nice! I like that work platform
Is it just me, or does it look like he climbing without being strapped in to the tower?
He was using a fall arrest stop line while climbing. I could see the line. I had that same thought at first.
Nice antenna. de JS1BVK.
