Thx, Excellent Presentation
Seems like a good rule change to address an issue that is on the increase. Better than back in the day, if you flopped, the chances of you getting an offensive foul or benefit the doubt from me were gone. And I would let the coach and players know. If you were steam rolled later in the game after flopping, no call. Worked pretty well, but this rule change is better and empowers corrective officiating, while still allowing a penalty for additional fake fouls. I particularly like the delayed whistle to let a play to conclude so an offensive advantage is not taken away. Nice job!!
what if there is a flopping call on a team B player (on defense and delayed call) and a team A player fouls a team B player on a subsequent rebound opportunity? How would this be administered? Thank you.
Outstanding presentation. This will be very helpful for all officials.
I don’t believe this was covered but I could be wrong. No previous warnings and then two defensive FBF on the same possession. A1 (offense) has ball at top of key and goes towards basket, B1 (defense) FBF, we let play continue (give the FBF signal) A1 continues to basket and B4 FBF while A1 attempts the shot. Since there was never an official warning, how is this handled? Just a warning because there was no official warning or is the second FBF a technical foul. Thanks
29:55, there is nothing in NFHS rules that suggests this should be two points.
Im pretty sure that's just 2 points.
Applaud the rule. But the implemenation is going to be super messy!
All coaches at every level need to see this, because they’re not gonna understand no matter how many times it’s called
The down low name is the Lebron rule
Interesting but I love it!!!!
I'm glad they're putting more focus on this -- it's ridiculous, dishonest, and disruptive to the game. The pros should crack down on it as well.
I have scoured both NFHS basketball rules book & case plays. I cannot find your explanation of “first to touch” clarification that a player can go out of bounds than return to in bounds and first to touch without out a violation ruled for any reason. Please help!!!
Interesting
Injured player situation rule has been active for at least 20 years. At this point for the rule to be reiterated only means that new basketball referees are not being trained correctly.
The intro is the best, I have always tried to get other people saying.
I'm going to have so much fun this year.....!
SEASONED referees should be able to recognize when it is actually a contact that creates flopping.
Great info
GREAT learning opportunity and brings an understanding that we should all develop for the betterment of all our constituents.
This is exceptional. Thank you.
No previous warnings for flopping. Possession arrow in favor or offensive team. Offensive team down by 2 points. Shooter releases ball for a legitimate attempt and then clearly flops. By rule : referee stops play, issues warning to offensive team and then awards the offending team the ball for another scoring attempt. Haven’t we rewarded the offending team by giving them another opportunity to score. Am I missing something. Dennis Nuber Board 33
Since there is no team control after the try is released, the POI would be the AP arrow. Very possibly, the offending team could get the ball back.
The play you describe doesn't meet the spirit and intent of the rule. Officials should focus on penalizing the most common infractions (outlined in the video) and help deter players from employing deceitful acts to gain an advantage.
"Promo sm" 😢

Video at 6:20 was a three man crew with center making the call. Lead shown at 6:13

Excellent presentation. Great review. Thank you
