Keep Your IC Spray Machines Running Smoothly
Shutting IC spray machines down to wipe off the spray nozzle is a necessary evil. Dirty nozzles result in bad spray patterns that turn into Metal Exposure. Many plants shut machines down on an hourly basis, and across many can lines, which can keep an employee busy for their entire shift. Let's free up the operators time, so that they can do more important work.

What Happens Inside an IC Spray? (Part 3) IPS CanSCHOOL
Переглядів 108День тому
In this week's CanSCHOOL video, we take a closer look at the IC Spray machine’s precision can transfer process. As star wheels are indexed forward, chuck brakes slow the spinning, and vacuum suction transfers cans into pockets on the transfer turrets. Ink dot guns mark each can for quality control and traceability before they’re moved through discharge chutes, where reject gates ensure only the...
IPS Tool Talk: Cross Hatching

Bodymaker tear-offs can drastically affect front-end efficiency, leading to downtime and production losses. Cross hatching punches is a key process that reduces tear-offs by creating the right amount of surface roughness on the punch. This added texture increases friction during the ironing process, ensuring the can stays in place, preventing slips and tears. The result? A more efficient produc...

Next up in CanSCHOOL: Another closer look at the IC Spray Machine As cans spin through spray positions, upper spray guns apply a burst of waterborne coating to the sides, ensuring every inch gets multiple layers. Then, cans move to lower spray guns for a second coat focused on the chime of the can. The calculated spin speeds and spray durations ensure even coverage, with a deliberate overspray ...

    • @IPSCanmaking
      @IPSCanmaking 5 місяців тому

      Thanks for the question. The decorated cans leaves the Decorator on a pin chain. This style chain has metal pins (or posts) attached to the chain links. These metal pins limit the amount of contact inside the can for ease of transfer to the next production process. After the Decorator the cans travel on the metal pin to the pin oven to cure the can decoration.

    Weird. Aluminum is non ferrous so yeah not magnetic. I reckon this is one of those false information channels designed to trick the weak minded into believing all sorts of nonsense. Pretty sure youtube sponsors and supports this kind of misinformation to expedite the ignorance of the world population.

    • @IPSCanmaking
      @IPSCanmaking 5 місяців тому

      Many viewers have posed a similar response; when speaking about aluminum not being magnetic. We had a colleague who commented on this video on our LinkedIn page that explains things perfectly: "It is down to an effect called “Lenz effect” or “Lenz Law”. As the aluminum can passes the face of a strong magnet or “neodymium” magnet, this causes electrical currents to flow within the can which oppose the original magnetic field of the magnet, in turn, magnetizing the can and acting as a brake to the travelling can. By using neodymium magnets you can reduce the speed of a can quite significantly, stabilizing the can to reduce line spoilage." You can see this principle work in many other areas where you desire non-contact braking using magnets, like slowing of roller coasters for example. We are promoting this product where Aluminum cans or Aluminum cups are single filed through track work. Based on the magnets proximity to the can, the eddy currents will have a greater or lesser effect, which is why this design offers adjustability for the magnets position.
