I just came across this today. We are awaiting the soon departure of my dear sister-in-law. When I saw "processing grief" I knew I needed to hear this. Thank you for sharing this encouragement through your pain. Joni Erickson said in a GriefShare video.."If you received embroidered pillowcases from someone you love, you would be so touched. However, if you found out the giver had crippling painful arthritis, those pillowcases would mean so much more to you." You three have done this very act as you share through your pain of loss. Thank you. I will be praying for Nathan's wife and children and all of you. The bottom line....grief is temporary, heaven is eternal. Jesus conquered the grave. God bless you.

Hello John, This is the 2nd podcast watched; the first was; 5 Ways to Develope Better Christian Songs. A few thoughts... 1. A Christ-follower MUST develop and have a "daily" relationship w their Heavenly Father and Saviour Jesus. The Holy Scriptures teach that "belief" is not enough. The demons of Satan believe in Jesus and tremble at His name. We (the human race) were created to be "in relationship" w our Creator; God/Jesus. 2. Please hold the rotten eggs, tomatoes and dead cats... As a Christ-follower we are instructed by Jesus and also told by the Apostle Paul; We are "not of this world" so we should not "behave as the world" does. We are set apart for the service of our Lord Christ Jesus. Therefore whatever a person puts into their mind (eyes and ears) they place into their heart. I've learned from personal experience that listening to music other than that which Glorifies The Lord is "totally counterproductive". Our thoughts replay the lyrics and melodies which shape our thoughts and behavior. The Old Testament Israelites were instructed to take "the instruction/tablets of The Lord and bind it to their head's, speak it in conversation and teach it in their home's". Whatsoever a person places into their mind and heart; "therefore they are". 3. Success with "anything" in life is as John said; " NOT Accidental" so it requires a certain amount of discipline. "Is this a passing thought, idea or a passion within my heart and soul?" Remember...as a Christ-follower; The Holy Spirit has been placed within each of us at the moment of our true conversion. 4. Because we are the hands, feet, voice and body of the one we serve; when The Lord places within us a phrase, lyric or melody; He (if allowed and we truly are in relationship with Him) will speak thru us as His vessel, to share His message for His Purpose...to reach minds, hearts and live's. Think about it...the artist is a vessel used by The Lord and the result is God's Message is proclaimed! THAT'S WHY WE ARE SO FILLED BY CERTAIN SONGS...It ALL BEGINS with the level of our relationship with our Saviour/ Lord Jesus and His Father. 5. Yes we're ALL busy...life is busy. Busy can be an Enemy and Distraction in our live's that is why the Scriptures teach us to "Meditate Upon The Lord " and "Wait Upon Lord". It's not as big of deal that people believe it is...Remembering Who's you are and Who you are in our Saviour Jesus sets our thoughts where they need to be for ALL CIRCUMSTANCES and moments in our live's... This includes songwriting and lyrics. As John reminded; "God has placed within us His gift and when we use for His Glory; He will multiply the result more than we could ever imagine". 6. John, FANTASTIC reminder: Keep a DEDICATED notebook handy "with you" ALWAYS (even when you travel or on an airplane!) I've written beautiful lyrics on an AMTRAC train and in-flight. Recently an inspiration phrase was heard AT WORSHIP during our Pastor's message...I used a chair-pocket prayer card.) and REMEMBER (learn how-to) use the voice recorder on your mobile phone. 7. Finally....God is NOT my Co-pilot...God IS THE PILOT!...He simply allows me to work the pedals and turn the steering wheel. LOL!!!! VERY INSPIRING VIDEO JOHN!!!!

John, I'm a 62yr old guy who's been playing (sometimes playing around with) acoustic (since 12yrs of age) and the past few years electric guitar. At 15 wrote my first lyrics w melody/chords. Thinking through the songs composed; I'm a storyteller; for the most part. Although never explained to me; from watching this video, a discovery was made that all of the songs composed (sometimes my inner thoughts however, other times Holy Spirit inspired/given) have had the first 4 out of 5 instructions. Thank-you for this wonderful, insightful, educational and absolutely encouraging sharing of information that you've learned and The Holy Spirit has guided you through. I've been incredibly blessed to have experienced participating in full choir, worship team, quartets, trios, duets, solos-w-trax, self-accompanied guitar solos and also soundboard worship. Our God is; as you said "Good and blesses us "above and beyond" what we could ever imagine! Thank-you and may The Lord continue to bless you and the ministry that you walk through with His guidance, Ed
