How do you get or make the hauls before the installation of the ribs?

Did that in 1968 when I was 14 only I hooked it up to my bicycle and cycled 3 miles to join my friends canoeing on our favourite beach....

I built one after watching your video. My problem is that my kayak weighs 85 lbs empty, and about 100 fully loaded. It kept falling off the cart! The single crossbrace to support the kayak bent on the cart frame. What I had to do was run a strap from each wheel over the kayak and strap it down tightly. I also had a problem at the handle end because the kayak wouldn’t stay centered over it. Again, I had to use a strap to center it. Part of my problem was that the only golf cart I could find had a tubular frame rather than a square one. Big mistake. I’ve used mine for a year now. Once the kayak is mounted it works great. However, getting the kayak mounted on top and not falling off before strapping it down is a pain. Wish your video showed how you managed that with one person.

Brilliant 👍👍👍 thanks for sharing. The only modification that I’m considering is a little beefier wheels. I pack a lot of gear in my canoe so the wheels must be able to take the weight and off road terrain.

Exactly what I did. I’m just seeing if anyone else discovered this. I’ll be towing a kayak so I am using the bag swing arms as a pivoting cradle for the kayak hull. I mounted rubber balls by cutting them in half and gluing them on each of the pivoting arms; these will find home in the scupper holes this will secure the positioning of the kayak. I have one draw strap I salvaged from a harbor freight tie down strap,I had left over. I salvaged the buckle assembly from an old shoulder strap from a camera bag. I am attaching this to my bicycle so; I’ve still yet to design and build the attachment to be mounted on the bow. That must be easily attached and removed with no holes to draw water into. Since I will be towing this behind a bicycle; weight is a major factor.

I made a kayak cart using your video ! thanks it was easy to do .i bought a cart at a garage sale for 5.00 dollers and went to hardwere store to get some bolts .total costfor my cart was 9.00

I made a cart today using your video. It was super easy. I found a golf cart for $5.00 and bought some supplies for about $10.00. It turned out great. The Goodwill by my house had 5 carts. I chose the one made of titanium. Total weight is under 5 lbs. Thank you for the idea. I figured this cart saved me over $100. Jorge
