Went to New Haven yesterday to say a play so I stopped at Southford Falls State Park on the way.

A short walk just outside of Stowe brings you to this beautiful waterfall.
I was thinking of visiting today. Trails easy to follow? I don't want to get lost.
Been there a year after Hurricane Sandy that October Snow Storm. first time there at the Park, there was an Ax, any meaning to that why some one leaves an Ax at the Parking lot? Enjoyed the shots.
Thanks for this as a reference...I scouted a mile of this river out from where it joins the Naugatuck river and found 2 areas to swim (one around 6 1/2 feet deep)

Is this hard to get to?
Very easy except the dirt road from the Becan Falls side does get washed out after a heavy rain, you can get there from Naugatuck also on a paved road...

How long is the hike from the parking area to the falls?
if your starting from the beginning of the trail in Millburn I'd say about 2.5-3 miles

Nice video. I live in the Midwest (USA) and never see scenes or places like this. I've always loved the water. And I love gray and dark cloudy days as depicted here in this video. Thank you for sharing this. Hope you didn't get too wet making it.
The Reservation falls within the border of a few towns. Washington Lookout is in Millburn, but Hemlock Falls are in Maplewood.

There hasn't been that much water flowing over the falls this year.
it is a path less taken, but well worth the hike.

My A-hole parents SOLD all that land next to ALL of the Falls. I think its going to be destroyed and turned into homes. It makes me fuming mad she didnt DONATE it ot the Falls. It would of been another 9 acres of protected land ALL could of enjoyed!

I grew up about 5 minutes from here..Love this place. I use to go down there with a trash bag and pick up garbage. It's so sad that people trash this place. Thanks for posting!
