Before watching the entire video, I read some of the comments. A lot of people said that you were heartless and inhumane for not helping this poor creature. Then I watched the rest. You did help. Until you ran out of fish. You continued to check on this pup and mention that other fishermen also fed him. Obviously, some people did not watch the entire video. I hope they suffer from foot-n-mouth....

I can't believe you would leave that poor pup there to just starve and die why in the heck didn't you think of calling for help I could not do that I mean that is none humane you could see his bones he been attacked he had cut marks on him you know people that take videos and don't do anything to help the animals that's so sad what kind of Humane people are you

that poor little sea lion pup I don't understand why people don't take the time quickly to call the animal control people they will know who to call or even 911 dispatch they know who to call the rescue people instead of" just the poor thing" and feed it you can't feed it as much as you want to unless you have fish that you know that that pup can eat it's starving it's tagged it's been out there before it can't make it on its own but why do they wait so freaking long instead they want to take a video

The pup had been rescued before. You can tell because it has a tag on its front right flipper. When they tag sea lions they put the tag on the right flipper if it is female and on the left if it is male. So it is a little girl. You can also see some shaved areas on its right side. These are numbers which the rescue center shaves for easy distance identification. They are geometrical shapes and are the same ones used for horse. Anyway, it hadn't grown out the fur yet so it had been released fairly recently. For every sea lion pup that is seen to strand on the mainland, probably 10 more died out in the sea or on the Islands off of LA where they were born, starved or drowned. I think most of the 2015 cohort died. Maybe 60,000 pups. Now in 2017, thanks to the warm water blob hanging off the California coast, there's sort of a red tide of algae that produces a poison (Domoic acid) that works its way up the food chain and is producing crippling brain damage in many sea lions.
