There used to be lead and copper smelters over at devoran and the water draining from all the mines of gwennap and United downs all came to this creek. So it’s a bit of a muddy mixture nowadays! You should have had your wellies on I think!🙂

Devoran quayside would be good! Look at the old enginehouse and storage buildings. The village hall used to be were they worked in the railway engines.

That bridge was probably built by Great Western Railway, when things were built properly👍

They used to pile tin ore in the calciner then roast it till it gave off the fumes of arsenic and sulphur. The smoke from this weaved it’s way up through the maze or they called it a labyrinth. When it was cooled down men would go in and bag up the arsenic soot. It was used as an insecticide years ago. Your right about the blacksmith shop, I wish they would get on and restore it.👍

Good walk around, it an interesting place! You were looking at the rising main water pipe and clack valve that were pulled up out the shaft. They went down beside the pump rods hanging on the end of the Bob. Boilers supplied steam to pumping engine and horizontal whim engine and heated the dry ( changing room) across the yard. Good video!👍
