Gravion: Gran Kaiser's 'Elgo Form'
Dunno why I decided to clip and upload this at 2 in the morning when I could use this motivation to continue on a script or, better yet, sleep but my brain hates me.

It's explained in-show that during the henshin sequence, the main mech will generate a sort of gravitational field (0:27) that more or less blocks things from attacking while they merge. Its similar to why GaoGaiGar generates the water typhoon.
They are polite. Also, you might have noticed the giant force field created at the beginning of the combination.
It's the RULE, if your opponent started to combine, just watch it

The leg parts seem kinda superfluous. They just latch on and do nothing. Also, you'd think the girls in them would be constantly nauseous from being kicked around.
The legs actually do provide larger feet when docked, making it taller.

Not to mention armor, extra weapon systems, and increased power levels. The combined parts are more than just for size. It's the gestalt principle.

Wow I havent watched Gravion in so long. I forgot that elgo form is the one that make Gran Kaiser more powerfull but it puts a big strain in the body.
Even better when this episode opened with everyone but toga saying that eiji was just the foot of gravion and needs to listen to toga, which is true but only raven was disciplining eiji for not following orders the others were making fun of him, now they see that not only is he putting his life in danger to save all of them when the only limit stopping it now is wheyher he dies or not but also is able to pilot the grand kaiser like toga showing he is more than just a foot
Yeah that's why Gran Kaiser needs to combine with the God Parts to become Gravion, so the pilot can handle the Elgo Form.
I honestly forgot he ever did pilot more than one of the support craft until zwei when he was the main initiator of the sol gravion combination
