The US did consider having military bases near its border a threat to the national security If the US do believe it's a threat therefore a provocation to set up military bases near a great power, why there are over 300+ bases surrounding China? So does China have the same right to react the way US did back in 1962? Trump and Biden have both used words like thug, gangster, mad man when addressing Putin, yet the US also have Russia surrounded with military bases and NATO enlargement. If you know it's a threat to Russian security especially with trying to incorperate Ukraine into NATO, why would you corner a 'mad man' like this and expect this 'Mad Man' not to react? There are two possibilities here: - 1. The US did not expect Russia to attack Ukraine, the US reacted with nuclear force when there's a military base in Cuba, how come it not to expect Russia would do something similar, especially when everyone knows Ukraine shared a specially relationship with Russia and its border is 400 km away from Moscow?
