I bought the same mount .. I just did not know it came without a power supply .. so wich one you recommend
I purchased the Lynx Astro 12v 5Amp. www.firstlightoptics.com/power-accessories/lynx-astro-12v-dc-5amp-low-noise-mains-power-supply.html
nice. is it good for guiding with a guidingscope?
I did guide with it. If you get a good one you should get around an arc second RMS. I had issues with DEC backlash. First went back to the supplier but the second one was even worse so that went back as well. I've now purchased an iOptron HEM15.
I have the Celestron 130 Eq, and my unit does not have a spherical mirror. If you have a spherical mirror, you must have a sub-aperture corrector lens in the focuser (Jones-Bird Newtonian). Otherwise, you will have spherical aberrations. My unit does not have this configuration. It is the same as my four other Sky-Watcher newts, just smaller.
Hi, My Astro master 130 is quite old, but my understanding is the mirror is spherical even though it doesn't have the lens in the focuser you mention. This means you do get Spherical Aberrations with the Astro master 130EQ. There is a blog post on the Celestron website from 2011 stating the mirror is spherical. Ill post the link in the description
Very good video. I think you journey mirrors that of many. Have you ever considered a smart scope?
Thanks, No not considering a smart scope. I'm in too deep already. lol. The EQ-AL55i Pro Mount I used for the images in the video went back and I'm now awaiting a new mount. Once it arrives I will be able to continue the astrophotography. Unboxing video coming soon.
hello, I see a good shot, a star cluster, but have you tried setting the shutter speed to more than 2.5, 10 minutes? This mount can handle long shutter speeds
This was unguided. So the most I could get was around 1 minute before star trails started to form. Also the backlash issue would make some of the subs unusable.
Hello, is it possible to make the play even smaller and is there a reserve for tightening the play?
I would adjust it until you can feel it starting to bind and then back it off a little. Then makes sure you can rotate the axis a full rotation. How much play you will have left will be determined by how good the worm gear is. If you have a bad one with a large "high spot" in the gear there isn't a great deal you can do. I no longer have this mount, It got taken back and I ordered something else.
no, I didn't order this mount, I was just looking at it, to begin with I was interested in information about its problems and illnesses, I used to want to buy it, but now the desire has disappeared due to the huge backlashes
I still think its a good mount, You just have to get a good one. Which seems to be the issue with most Astro gear.
and which mount guides the star better, this one or Star Adventurer Gti
Hi there you near Barnsley mate
@wombwell1978 Yes mate
Thanks for sharing. You're saving what mount you ordered for a future video I take it. Fun to see the process people go through with this hobby. Awesome images.
Thanks for joining me on the journey. Yeah, I will do an unboxing and setup soon as it arrives. Got Loads to go through. First time Polar aligning with Sharpcap. Learning to use NINA, I will be getting a new OTA as well as some stage.
i will get that sv705c camera soon!!!
Its a really good camera, Check the field of view though that its suitable for your scope and what your wanting to image.
I put a link in the description for the Field of view calculator.
@@ArdsleyAstro yes i checked thank you good man
Great to see you use Astap, it's an amazing piece of software far better then anything else out there for stacking! I'm also exploring Cosmic Clarity and it's great, not perfect but close (it likes to invent some stars on my newts diffractyion spykes), now Seti Astro come out with Statistical Strech...wow, that´s a powerfull one :O
Thanks, I do need to try the stacking in ASTAP more.
I am very much a beginner when it comes to Astronomy and Astrophotography so any comments or tips are gratefully received. If you spot something I am doing wrong, or could do anything differently. Please drop me a line.
Heythere, thank you for this video. If you think your images look flat/gray after stretching, have you ever tried GenHypStrTransf. using Human weighted or Even weighted luminance instead of Independent channel models as Colour stretch model? I tried and think colors popp a bit better with these models. Just a Tip. CS and best wishes 👋
Thanks, Ill take a look at that if its available in Siril, I am very much a beginner so any tips are gratefully appreciated.
Holy Mary Mother of God. Human weighed is available and makes a huge difference. Thank you so much for the tip
Happy to help 😊
It's honestly refreshing to see a non-PI astro processing video.👍🏾
I'm pleased you liked it. I did end up doing a Part 2 as the workflow changed with the updated Cosmic Clarity
Just released, a new version of Cosmic Clarity has landed that works with linear data. This means you can go from Graxpert -> Cosmic Clarity -> Siril, rather than the way I showed in the video. I have to say I think it gives even better results. Also looking at some comments from Seti Astro's video who wrote Cosmic Clarity, its better to denoise after sharpening. I've uploaded a Part 2 with the new workflow and a different DSO.
Hi, thanks for making this video. Have you been able to see if the backlash has improved after this tightening? I have had this mount for about a month and my DEC backlash is also really bad so it looks to be a common problem. I am contacting the supplier to see about a return but if they say it's ok to try this then I might give it a go first.
It did "improve" but not to a degree I would call acceptable. This is my second EQ-AL55i Pro both with the same issue, unfortunately this one is worse than the first. It's currently adjusted right at the high spot on the worm gear but it still leave 17 arc seconds of slop in the DEC axis. Do you mind me asking who supplied yours?
@@ArdsleyAstro I got it from FLO. It also looks to be problematic when connected via USB-C where it will end up just slewing until I turn it off. It's been a massive disappointment to say the least.
Mine is from FLO as well. I never tried it via USB-C, only via WIFI and the SynScan APP and ASCOM driver.
Could have been a very useful video for me, but most of it was out of focus and could see what you were doing properly, which was a real shame, as I need to do this job…
Yeah apologies for the focus issue, How are you finding the EQ-Al55i Pro? This is my second one due to DEC backlash issues. Unfortunately this one seems worse than the first one
@@ArdsleyAstro it’s going back as this procedure is just too fiddly the Star adventure GTI was a much better and easier set up with just 2 screws to screw in or out, and for the RA you don’t even have to remove any covers there is an access hole to do the job, and DEC is pretty much just as easy
@@ArdsleyAstro it’s going back, and will stick with the Star adventure GTI as the adjustment on that is an absolute doddle, there is even an access hole to adjust the single screw on the RA and the DEC is pretty simple too, this is a poor design and would not recommend the mount at all, I won’t even do a review on it…☹
@@Astro_Shed I don't find the process itself too painful. The main issue I have is either the worm gear tolerance is terrible or its bent like a banana, You can only adjust the backlash to the "high" spot on the worm gear. That leaves loads of slop in the reset of rotation. I have some guiding logs from Friday if your interested.
@@ArdsleyAstro the EQ8 mount I owned was exactly the same, it was a nightmare to adjust due to the out of round worm wheel, it’s seems an issue with SW mounts, I said I would never own another one, and should have stuck to it…My observatory CEM70 is far superior and simple to adjust if needed…
Thanks bro🎉
Thanks, I might redo this video as I don't like the voice track I used and forgot to add a timelapse clip. So if you have any suggestions or want to know anything about the SV705c then ask away and I will include it in a reupload.
Thank you for addressing the build quality question!
Any time!
The answer is, Yes you can use the SV205c as a guide camera. it does work but there are some caveats. When I first got mine there was no gain control. I spoke with the supplier who coded a new firmware. That gave me gain control. In PHD2 the gain needs to be at max (128). Leave exposure to auto and let PHD2 stack the frames together.
........................ Luke I am your father.
lol, Does look a little like a light sabre
@@ArdsleyAstro You misinterpreted my comment. Your breathing is Darth Vader, hence my first comment :)
Apologies, It wouldn't let me change the audio track. I will endeavour to stop breathing, in future shorts
Nice video! I'm thinking of getting this exact mount for my reflector, but I'm unsure of the part that holds the two rings that hold the telescope tube. Can you tell me what it is?
I purchased a vixen dove tail to mount the tube rings on when I bought the mount
Awesome video! I'm looking forward to the journey on this channel.
