thank you for your summaries and tips on all of these points, what an efficient and valuable video. i find myself wondering if you are enneagram 3 or with a 3 wing because you work fashions that seemed to go with each number you were describing! it was cool. i especially loved the shift for the enneagram five which makes me think of the kind of clothing my enneagram five brother often wears. i am enneagram four with a three wing though some sort of a five wing is there as well. i find your videos very insightful about my type.

Oh my Goddd, the deflecting responsibility by blaming others. Something I have been experiencing with three unhealthy 4s over the past two years and cannot deal with it anymore. Wish a healthy 4 could make them understand my position because I am way too emotionally reactive to these change-resistant people who keep clashing with each other and gaslighting those who criticise their behaviour, viewing themselves as the victim, nevermind if they’re in their early twenties or fifties. As you can read in this comment. I am way too aggressive; years of frustration; need to step back from situations early but don’t seem to learn either. (This is not about any other 4 than the three folks in question btw, so if you’re a 4 and reading this, please don’t feel attacked, I am not talking about you.) *Edit:* And yeah, the “those who criticise their behaviour” does mean plural because I am not the only one who called out their emotional coping mechanism of constructing twisted narratives that make them look and feel better but have been witness to how they badmouth these other people afterwards to discredit their arguments. (What exactly is authentic about that?) Guess that’s gonna happen to me too now. Oh well. Regards, a frustrated 5w6.

This theory is literally pseudoscience, and everybody that TRIES their hardest to substitute therapy with enneagram is insane. Not only will enneagram never be scientific, it will never know the way trauma actually works in the brain or how to heal it. Most traumatized children have ALL of these cores, some might show harder in certain ages, situations or periods in life. The fact that you need to have one, or at most three if you believe in tritype is not helpful at all. Childhood trauma is MUCH more complex than this and certain coping mechanisms are there to help you survive. Trying to stop these mechanisms is irrational when you don't heal the actual problem. This is gonna fuck up truly mentally ill people even more. If you wanna heal yourself get therapy, and stop relying on random "enneagram coaches" or spiritual activists. Disintegration/ integration lines are bonkers again, because any rational human being would tell you that any type can become bed ridden and narcotic at their worst. Because it's clinical depression, it doesn't care about your personality. Does this mean every fucking enneagram disintegrates to 9 towards the end? No. And trust me, depending on circumstances you could and would disintegrate into any enneagram. Use the enneagram as a fun self identification tool, because that's all it will ever be. It's trying so hard to "fix" certain types but in the process forgets that different world views exist, which was the whole point anyway. 1's can overwork themselves , but do you seriously think you can just change their worldview because you don't understand it? Wings are absolutely useless since they can always alter. It doesn't even take into account adult life trauma. ANY trauma will change your personality, at ANY point in time. Why exactly does the enneagram think it's always going to be fixed? God knows. You might tell me right now, "YESS, of course!! You should obviously go to therapy for these issues". So then what is the point of the enneagram? It obviously markets itself as a healing tool, and it doesn't do it's job. It's a romanticized version of real life and psychology. It's pop psychology. So, again, see it as a fun quirky personality test. Rationalization in the comments, here it comes...

I can't box myself into either wing. I have qualities of both. Makes sense because I am a Libra sign (indecision, swing one way or the other). Anger is also an issue for me (very typical 8 quality) due to my emotional Moon being in the sign of anger, Aries.

Wow, you're really, really good at this. Some people on youtube, it seems like they've only got a general grasp of what a type four is, embellish inaccurately, and I disagree with about half of what they say, you on the other hand not a single sentence did not resonate with me, so fascinating. Do you have any top enneagram books I should be checking out to not just learn more about us type fours but other enneagrams in general? I'm actually finding this as a potential way to relate more with other people which has always been kind of a difficulty for me, and whatever/wherever you have studied appears to have the info spot on.

Learned about ennegram recently, and 9 seems to be what I get the most, however, if they show any wings, no matter the test 1 and 8 are nearly split evenly with one sometimes being only 2% stronger than the other. Interestingly though, neither wing is the type that is second highest, which is 5 when taking the tests.

I feel I am thoughtful AND intuitive but incredibly annoyed with how slow things travel at work which causes me to speak up strongly. I would like to mitigate this, I'm not sure it's always helpful even tho my colleagues say it is. Thoughts?

Hmm, what if you behaved like the types in the aggressive stance as a child or teenager but got punished a lot because of impulsive actions that had bad consequences, so you learned to withdraw and thoroughly think things through to avoid further pain? I am now in the withdrawn stance. I rarely act on my thoughts and feelings but overthink a lot. But as a child/teenager, I didn’t care about consequences and just acted in the moment.

1:53 : True, though I think the causality flows this way: context creates lots of demands from others ⇒ 9 concedes to the demands as they always do instead of exploring their own interests ⇒ general underlying sense of anxiety ⇒ 9 becomes unhealthy (ie. exhausted) ⇒ 9 starts avoiding interactions to recover
