Sakaguchi is completely correct. The problem with the Final Fantasy series and with Square Enix as a whole is that they are averse to risk. They follow the cynical philosophy of all other publicly-traded companies: do what will safely make money for as long as possible, and when it doesn't anymore, latch onto whatever other trend the shareholders or market analysts say is the next cash cow and do that. That's just how it is. Corporate 'art' is forever stagnant because it can never innovate and never take risks. It can't because once a company is publicly-traded, it is law-bound to do what is in the best financial interest of its shareholders, and shareholders care only about what makes money. If a CEO takes a bold risk and fails because he believes in himself, or believes that's the right thing to do, or because he wants to stick with his own vision, he can be held legally liable and ruined. This ruination can include massive financial penalties and even jail time. But if he does what the shareholders want and the venture fails, well-- it's not his fault and so he can escape legal liability. This naturally breeds risk-aversion for those in positions of authority of a corporation, and it's the reason innovation ends up coming not from corporations but from smaller companies. All of that is to say, I'm glad that this partnership with Square Enix is only that: a partnership. That SE's only job is to help bring Sakaguchi's game under Mystwalker to broader audiences (and get a cut for doing so) and is not owning or assuming creative control over the product, because if Sakaguchi were to work FOR Square Enix again, even if he assumed his old position, the game would be irrevocably changed as his obligation would be SE's shareholders rather than to his own vision. Likewise, any future titles he'd wish to create would be changed to fit SE's business policy and his creative risk-taking would be effectively neutered. Despite his failing with The Spirits Within, he has always worked better when allowed to actually do his own thing. tl;dr Square Enix was doomed to mediocrity the moment they merged with Enix and went public and while its nice to see the father of JRPGs work with his old company again, it's to everyone's benefit he's not a part of them anymore and is just working with them as a partner for this title.

You bring up some good/valid points but there some I don’t agree with. 1 point I disagree with is that people are complaining because yasuke is black. Yes there is a small handful that don’t like the game because yasuke is black but most are arguing about his portrayal, not his race. They argue that yasuke should be an npc or instead of a samurai he should be portrayed as a ronin or a shinobi. 2) the franchise is specifically “historical fiction” . assassins creed since their first game has had historically accurate city’s, events, and historical figures. For the fictional part all the main characters are fiction as well as the story. Assassins creed doesn’t change history but instead weaves itself with history. In the case of yasuke he was a real person who did serve under nobunaga for a time but no where in the official history books does it say he was a samurai and this is where most argue about claiming Ubisoft is changing history for DEI. Sorry if I am ranting but I figured I give my opinion and what I heard to shed some light on the subject.

Tetsuya nomura did not direct 13 in fact he was pretty hands off. he handled lightning's design and a few of the main cast's, actually it was Roberto Ferrari who was pretty much the main character designer and he's since become the character designer for FF 7 remake trilogy. Motomu Toriyama was actually director of 13. Nomura's first ff game to direct would have been versus 13 which he had to leave from after it became 15 and then tabata went ahead and made it his own thing taking out a lot of nomura's input in favor of what he believe the fans wanted. Technically nomuras debut ff title is FF 7 remake just the first one since he is not a director on rebirth. I do agree spirits with is a better movie, fun fact it was an inspiration for mass effect. "Has sakaguchi ever made a sequel"? I guess final fantasy ended in 1987 XD

i wish i got it over the air but in the entire state of virginia, it's on 1 over the air channel in richmond. the rest of the state can get it on philo or frndly tv

I have MeTV Toons on antenna tv, as a late 90s kid who never had Boomerang I love this channel.

Luckily, my area has the station, and I had an antenna lying around. Currently watching The Smurfs. Also, there’s Frndly too, which is about $10 a month. Once I get a Tablo or HDHomerun, I'll probably cancel it.

There is also a cheaper TV Streaming service called frndly. It has the MeTV TOONS channel, and MeTV and MeTV+, History, Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, and LMN.

Andre needs to host something on that network.

Tbh, even tho MeTV Toons is probably not available for me, I'm still glad that I can watch these cartoons on UA-cam, Toon In With Me, Tubi or DVD. Even WCO.

In the Tampa/St. Petersburg LPM market this is on WTOG-DTV, 44-6 broadcast. No monthly fee, no cable needed, just a TV and an antenna.

They're going to start adding MeTV Toons on Spectrum? What's the date? Which MeTV Toons station is going to be? KAZA-DT3 or KSFV-CD?

The Frndly streaming service also has all three MeTV stations. Lucky the service is cheap and has DVR included. Otherwise I'm using free ad-sponsored services for my TV options.

I thought I saw Pirates of Dark Water on Tubi or Roku; one of the free apps. I've been waiting on MeTV toons since May even had a countdown on my calendar, but right around that time my antenna channel 12s had connection issues. Cental TX MeTv is 12-2, but toons is listed on completely different channel (2-something?). Look up a show on MeTv called Collectors Call Sundays at 5:30 central. That show is my shit! Think Comicbook Heros (if you remember that show) meet's Pawn___. Difference is instead of waiting for items to come to the store the camera goes to the collector. American Pickers but well curated.

It's pretty great. It has some gems I haven't seen in decades like 2 Stupid Dogs and Freakazoid. I've recently re-discovered antenna TV in general as a great way to watch a bunch of old, comfort food TV. There's a device called a Tablo you can get that hooks up to an antenna and your Wifi and lets you watch over-the-air channels on any devices you stream stuff to.

MeTV Toons is also on frndly TV which costs anywhere between about $7 to $12 a month. I have the $12 a month plan which includes the ability to save DVR'd shows for 9 months. So far, I've been recording & watching shows on MeTV Toons like Inspector Gadget, The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends, Histeria!, Duck Dodgers, 2 Stupid Dogs & Freakazoid! Also have been recording Police Academy: The Animated Series & Wait Till Your Father Gets Home but haven't been able to take the time to watch them yet.

LOVE the details of the Japanese armor and it has potential to have amazing gameplay. DO NOT like the character designs though. too western. though the black samurai's design is among the better ones, the female's jawline is sharper than her kunai and her face is stretched just too wide for my liking. i prefer the Japanese and Koreans way of designing their game characters.
