I’m Kim and a self-taught artist. Living in a gulf coast state, I am constantly influenced by the beautiful colors of our sunrises and sunsets. I fell in love with acrylic fluid art a few years ago. I enjoy experimenting with new techniques and colors. It is also fun trying to express emotions and movement through the paint. I am learning and experimenting with more abstract art and texture art.

Desert Canyon - A Scoop Pour - 2nd in the Southwest Series
I love the colors of the Southwest. All of the neutral tones and the way the colors change throughout the day. There always seem to be a shimmer in the colors at sunrise and sunset. I chose to use several metallics so I could try to achieve that shimmer. I decided to try a new technique by using a small scoop to layer the paints before using the waterfall technique. I enjoyed using the scoop and look forward to using it with other techniques. I take these things as a learning experience in order to grow as an artist. Like my art, I am a work in progress. Working on improving technique, camera angles, lighting, and editing. Thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement.

Green and orange are some of my happy colors! I decided to use them in a split cup pour. I am still learning and getting comfortable with the split cup. I like the color red, even though I don't normally use red as a predominant color. I also stepped outside of my comfort zone by doing the open cup technique.
