You can use a belt sander with a 34 grit ceramic belt, and take the used sole down weal close and use E6000 adhesive to fasten a used or new piece of riding mower tread on there. Stuffe the boot with newspaper balls and wrap the sole with bailing twine to.hold it tight after you glue it. Dont allow the glue to be in clumps or.youll feel it later. Smooth the glue with a drywall trowel thing.

Nice, you get a lot of kit into that medium ALICE. I find that radio pouch is perfect for two SADF 2ltr water bottles. Cinched up it keeps the weight nice and tight against the upper back. Use them to replenish the hydration bladder and for pouring water into canteen cups etc.

I have mine setup similarly. I opted to go H harness with camelbak on the back. With water on the back gives extra space for another mag pouch. I need to get a better IFAK situation, right now using a SAW pouch for that.

I keep several cases of humanitarian rations at the house as they’re a little cheaper than MREs. Downside for me is the high sugar content of the HumRats.

Good review. I have several BRN-180'S, including a Wylde Carbine. Good to see yours is working for you. I see you're still running the 'dog leg' style charge handle. FYI, AT3 tactical has several stiles that don't interfere with rail mounted optics, including a non-reciprocating version and multiple styles of straight and folding charge handles. Cool paint job. Mine are all still 'evil' black.

Between my usmc rat boots and a pair of merrell moab boots I cant complain. The rat boots are a tank and the merrells are like walking on clouds!

Forget the sandals.

A good pair of boots with a very aggressive tread. Like Rocky Bear Claw boots. Water proof too and will keep you from screwing your feet up. You are going to fall and get hurt in the mountains with that crap on. You fall because of that crap and injure yourself. At least wear jungle boots. They drain out really good. Screw the vietcong foot wear.

Nantahalla is also full of copperhead snakes. Sandals aren't a good option. Maybe some jungle boots with snake gaiters.

I wear hoe chi Minh slippers like that in the woods a lot. Those and tiger stripe ranger panties. For me it’s just a vibe thing I have lowas and absolutely love them but not nearly as cool and looking cool is 90% of it.

My Belleville MCB boots have been top notch! Between those and the Justin boots I use for work my feet don’t complain in the humid hellscape that is Florida. Just keep your toe beans dry the best you can. I will try the method you mentioned though. 👌🏻
