    Have seen this in Belize too. Up to six nurse sharks hunting lionfish with the divers. They will quickly grab lionfish off a spear. They will push lionfish out of hiding. They will point to and swim around lionfish to draw a diver's attention to them. Some people don't like the sharks being "trained" to do this, but one sees cooperative hunting among fish all of the time. I have seen bar jacks following sharks. I have seen them hanging out next to goatfish waiting for them to stir something up. Bar jacks also follow stingrays around. Groupers and other fish will follow eels around while the eels poke around the coral looking for food. I don't see what the nurse sharks are doing as any different.

    I don’t like peoples hunting lion fish 🎣. The most beautiful creature on the reef around Roatan . I know it is invasive but nature should regulate this itself.

    • @davethatcher5081
      @davethatcher5081 6 років тому

      Unfortunately there are no natural predators or illnesses in the western atlantic or caribbean to control the lionfish population. They are voracious predators and produce 30,000 eggs every 4 days. They prey on all the juvenile reef fish. Therefor if you like seeing any fish on the reef we will keep hunting them until another predator appears. Check out Reef.org and BICA for more information. Thanks for watching.

    Hi Dave. Love your scuba videos. My bf and I are going to Palau sometime in the next year and are wondering where else we should go while we're in that area. We don't have bottomless pockets but feel like since we'll be in that area (realizing it's a huge area) we should go somewhere else too. Suggestions? We'll have about 3 weeks total. Thanks in advance. Kathy
