Yeah, Obama nation got rid of the other all 5 of them i served on LHA 4 the USS Nassau for 2 and a 1/2 years and now they're gonna have 3 new ones. So why did he get rid of the gonna have 3 new ones?Just keep the other five upgrade then add to it
My late father in law served in the army in the Pacific during WW2, and was one of the first to go ashore for the battle, brutal shit, heat, humidity, bad air, bad water and a determined enemy, he lost a dear friend and stayed pinned down with his body in a shell crater full of stagnant water, he was peppered with shrapnel, some of which he carried all his life, he said he had some of Bouganville inside of him along with the shrapnel.... my ex-wife has some pieces of shrapnel in a zip lock from his last back surgery, he had 5 in total, they are shiny like brand new, anyway it's nice to have the name of something that should be remembered, it honors the men who died there.... fair wind and a following sea Bougainville....
Had to leave after a minute of that bloody awful music.
Dick, excellent tribute for Jack. Very professionally made and thank you for sharing and telling me about this.
"Promosm" ✋
For a moment there, I thought you had found the same Elvis impersonator that we had in Norfolk, UK!
I like seeing smaller crews like this. It's easier to follow what everyone is doing. You guys handled hitting bottom very well, especially the first time.
This is a great tribute! R.I.P. Commodore.
Thanks for posting this great video about the history of Singing River Yacht Club and really about Pascagoula in general. RIP Dr. Jack Hoover, we will miss you. Keep up the great work you do making these videos!
Thank you!
I like the use of the 360 camera. I just purchased one. I plan to try it out soon for our Frostbite Race on January 1.
Watching the tugs provide ship assist, is like watching a well choreographed dance. Poetry in motion. Thanks so much for putting this together and sharing it. Well done! ⚓⚓
Great video on a tragic storm. Thank you for sharing!!
Très beau bâtiment excellent j’apprécie,,mais j’espère que ce navire aura tous ce qu’il faut pour ce défendre quand un navire aussi gros ils faut être armés
appreciate the video dick
This is great DD , and i'm 73 yrs young . Had several of these classics . Great tunes !!
PLEASE GIVE MY VIDEO A THUMBS UP AND LEAVE A MESSAGE!
1:22 that's so cool!!! All three ships I helped build in one photo!
I bet my ass this came in WELL OVER budget! Once you sign up for one of these--the greed takes over!
I sailed parallel to the north shore of Horn Island one moonlit night. The phosphorescence in the wake was pretty, but the lightning streaks of darting fish avoiding the bow was the real treat. Nothing on earth is as magical as night sailing.
The tugboat choreography is pretty cool you can see they are dealing with a little bit of a breeze. :)
what a boondoggle. Can you imagine how log this huge target would last in a war.
and you don't understand naval warfare at all...sorry charlie
Can YOU imagine how lawless and chaotic the world would be if we didn't have these ships? Who do you think enforces freedom of the seas? The Chinese? Lol.
@dona, if this huge target would not last long in a war, then there would be nothing floating around.
LHA's are deployed within an Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) alongside Marine Expeditionary Units (MEU). ARG/MEU's are deployed within a carrier strike groups protective umbrella.
THANKS....DICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful!~ Thanks for taking the time to capture this for us!~
Thank you sir for giving us a good quality video.
It should be noted that even though Bath Iron Works, a division of General Dynamics, built the three Zumwalt-class ships at their Bath, Maine shipyard, Ingalls Shipbuilding built the superstructures and the helo-hangars for the first two ships at their facility in Gulfport, Mississippi. These two components incorporate the use of carbon fiber and balsa wood in lieu of steel plate. Due to rising costs and the failure of the US Navy and Ingalls to reach acceptable numbers, the Navy chose to build the superstructure and helo-hangar for the third ship using steel. Although thirty-two ships were planned, excessive costs and system failures caused the Navy to cancel the program after these three ships were built. Critics of this ship class argue that designers pushed the stealth and "modern weapons technology" too far, resulting in significient costs overruns and system functionality failures. After realizing the failure of the program, the Navy chose to restart the construction program for the Arleigh Burke class destroyers (DDG). As of this writing, the Navy recently awarded Ingalls six additional DDGs and Bath Iron three more.
Thank Dick.
Didnt see the other two yachts on the journey there… were they left behind in the 42s7’s wake? ;)
Yes, they couldn't point as high and added extra miles to their trip. My boat performed well especially hard on the wind.
Dick... I love the transistions and naration on this video!!!! we need to do a cooking video
I second the cooking video idea. Also the insta 360 shots are awesome!!!
Very well done! Glad y’all had a great time!!

Great work on the video, I was following this cruise on Facebook and I've been jealous the whole time.
Awesome video Dick, very informative. You eat well offshore 😀
This well maintained vessel is for sale.
You are too close to the cars. Back up, get a full shot first. It's like you just want to show the paint, giving me a headache.
