I always love hearing your bird(s). Reminds me of the two I had. Is yours a Parakeet? I love the phaser strip idea on the saucer. I take you got the inspiration from the Titan-A from Picard? Where it had the old style phasers turrets like on the Excelsior and Connie Refits? But also up to date phaser strips. The ribbing around the impulse crystal is painted on the studio model as an FYI. It's like a very light greyish color. For the outer part that you were pointing at I would paint the darker blackish color you have already in spots then the ribbing around the impulse crystal I'd paint a slightly darker grey than what you have for your base color of the model.

If you want to use more power, these LED filament strings from Aliexpress and others can also be run off 3 volts, though for the higher power consumption you might have to switch to a AA battery box from dollar store string lights.

She is looking nice sir liking the addition of the Phaser array. I have a similar idea for my Excelsior(Refit) type dreadnought I am gonna be building. I am planning to use three Ambassador-class nucelles on mine and maybe a small phaser strip on the underside of the secondary hull.

Nice work and fantastic lighting preview! I like the black and grey. It conveys the "Yes, I am an exploratory vessel, but I will beat you down in combat" aesthetic. It was nice to see your little helper again, too. :)

this maybe to late but couldn't an old guitar string be used for the top piece of the phaser array ?. really liking the galaxy idea. 🙂

Great video, those impulse engines look great, and I am enjoying the series. Just wondering if you de-tack your tape to also help lessen the chances of peeling up paint.

I got to hand it to you Buddy, you're a calmer man than I, I hate to go one step forward and two steps back in a build like when the I.E. housing cracked on your Saucer, well I'll put it this way...I live in Ohio and my Daughter and Grandkids live in Georgia, I would have thrown the saucer section out the window so fast and hard my Grandkids would of seen it fly over their house lmao Anyway, I like the Deflector Dish ring idea.. real cool. The Impulse Engines look so cool, I really like those. She's really starting to take shape.

Will those pylon be strong enough to hold the nacelles up? They look quite thin.

I use tracing paper as a diffuser. Its a nice even diffusion of the light, low cost and easy to work with. I must say though that this is an improvement on the original Excelsior design.

Those details on the sides of the deflector dish, and on the Miranda class, are NOT auxiliary deflectors. They're long range sensors.

The blackish color tones for certain areas are a cool idea. It really makes those areas pop out to show the highlights of upgraded areas. I love hearing your bird. As I said in a previous video reminds me of the Quaker Parrot I had. She was a bit of a turd a lot of times and didn't really like anyone but me. I miss her a lot.

Bro....I am surprised that you don't get many comments on your video's, I have been building since I was 12 and I am now in my 50's and still building and I have to say these mods are so cool, as soon as I see you posted an update on this build I'm like OH YEAH lol cause this is so fascinating to watch and love to see how she comes out. Like to see more mods after this build. Wishing you the best and be careful of the X-acto, don't need any more boo boo's lol btw like what you did with the top of the Nacelles with the panel lines and panels. I'm really enjoying this build; I like very much what you are doing with the Excelsior which I have always thought was a great design and has lots of potential for tinkering/tweaking - but I haven't tried anything as radical as this (yet)!

As far as the warped saucer....that's always been an issue with the Excelsior kits, even the new one like this one. I have read over the years for warping plastic use a hair dryer to get it straightened out. If you google how to unwarp a Star Trek model piece you should come up with something.

Honestly I never saw the point of those fins above the impulse deck. I don't think they were ever explained in cross sections or schematics. If they were maybe someone can tell me. I could see this upgrade being a step into the Excelsior 2.0 from Star Trek Picard. Regarding sliced fingers....been there done that more times than I can count. I always think of a sliced finger as an initiation into the model builders circle. If someone building models have never accidentally cut yourself with your hobby knife blade...then you aint a true blood and sweat builder lol.

That tiny deflector dish definitely was the dish for the Enterprise-B. Good job on the progress. Been loving the changes/upgrades you've been doing for this model. Loved hearing your bird(s) in the background. I had a Quaker Parrot back in high school until 2004 when I moved from Vegas (from there). I ended up giving it to someone my brother knew who raised birds. I miss her a lot ...she may not be alive anymore since the tag on her foot said 1991 and it's now 2024...so yeah 33 years don't think birds live that long. Edit: Those look like the same type of crystals I get from Michaels to use as formation lights on the larger models...well at least the more tinier ones.

That part you can't find in the instructions, is it part 219 on the sprue? If so, that's the deflector dish insert for the Enterprise-B.

Where can I get a set of those purple handled files & reamers? Also, where can I get that plastic sheeting with the grid marks on it?

The ventral opening you filled in is, in fact, the primary personnel shuttle bay, while the one on the aft end is the cargo shuttle bay.

The fantail looks awesome, great idea, lighting comes through really nice...that was a lot of work but it paid off at the end.

Nicely done with the windows specially the Sensor Dome light. think I'll do that with mine which is in the preping stage right now, thanks for sharing.

A counter sink bit would be good for the planetary sensor dome on the bottom of the saucer

Have you considered giving the saucer a front and rear torpedo launcher for separated mode? One of those gaps between the impulse engines is just begging for a greeble detail.
