Try talking to yourself kindly and with encouragement the whole time when you are practicing. I've been working on my back spin, and my internal voice kept saying "oh here comes that inside 3 turn, you're gonna mess it up" and then I mess it up.. or "your leg is gonna drop" and then it drops. I was basically psyching myself out of it. I started doing positive self talk to counteract it and started getting more rotations almost immediately lol. "You can do the 3 turn! See? you did it! You can do a back spin Jasmine, wow you've improved so much, keep going. You can keep that leg up!"

I realize I should be so grateful that our public skates are for free in my town (living in Sweden) also the rink in my village has 3 hrs of public skate every day (6 hrs on weekends) and usually it's empty on the working days!

No like, even though you arent sitting down enough, your position looks amazing! im struggling with my sit spin too, but i am so wobbly and i can’t pull my thighs together :( Even though you aren’t at a perfect 90° angle, this spin looks amazing, i have no doubt that you will have a beautiful sit spin in no time! This is something you need to do for yourself. Many negative complaints from people who probably, because of choice and "being realistic", stopped following themselves. It has been my experience that later they wish they hadn't and can't get it back again. Some turn into people who like sucking the life out of others. You have a wonderful track record of accomplishments. Cheer for others in their endeavors. Be good to yourself.

Thank you, I needed this!! As a student its so hard seeing other skaters my age have infinite amounts of lessons/ ice time paid for by their parents, meanwhile I'm working insane hours every week just to fund a few hours of ice time!! Nice to see that there are others in the sport who aren't impossibly rich/ have impossibly rich parents and have to think about money too! 😅

I'm literally skating in my first skates (Jackson Artiste) and they are breaking down on me and the lace holes look like they're about to rip 💀My coach is teaching me skating skills from pre-free skate through free skate 3, but for jumps & spins, I'm at pre-free skate & free skate 1 (I'm improving my waltz jump and I'm working on my upright spin!) What skates were you using around that level and do you have any tips on selecting skates? I'm going to ask my coach too and the skate shop techs, but I like to get lots of opinions before I buy anything haha
