That was the second day I did in Moab in April '24 with my new ZR2. After stumbling upon them on Google maps, and then researching them, I knew that the next time I was there, I needed to go. I came down Schafer Trail and went thru there until the paved road. Unfortunately the colors weren't as brilliant as I've seen in some pics, but I guess that's just a matter of bad timing on my part as they change during the season. Still an awesome trip though, and honestly, I liked the road from the bottom of Schafer thru Potash to the road better than Schafer itself. It was still super scenic and you could actually stop and enjoy it more and not worry about driving off the edge! Again, hope to be able to meet up with you guys out there one day! I'm hoping to get out there in the fall if my work schedule permits and I don't need shoulder surgery. Nice vid as always!
@@kx8960 thanks! Yeah it’s really awesome over there! I’d agree, Potash road is pretty awesome!

neat. but how about we stop flying museum pieces before they randomly decide to catch fire or get crashed into by other museum pieces. save some for the next generations.
Buddy theres like 32 B-29's left. I dont think having two of them air worthy is that big of a problem.
@@Shire_ 32 is not a lot. such a small number can dwindle quickly over the years. disasters, vandalism, changing hands, lack of responsibility, bankruptcy, greed, laws, etc. just look at other limited number historical vehicles. ones even more famous than some ww2 bomber model. like the general lee. even the original one was found rotting in some random guy's overgrown forest backyard. care can be lost over time and those who do care might not have the resources to continue cherishing it. we have to protect all that is left.
Whoopsie! I think sand dunes like that are better for SXS's because of their insane ground clearance and travel. Looks like fun until the little bit of spine compression there! LOL
@@kx8960 you’re right! They can handle them a lot better than our big trucks can, but we try our best 😅 Mid-September through the end of the October the dunes have a chance to recover so it’s way less rutted out.
I’m trying to get over the fear of heights… it’s taking away so many experiences… this road would definitely scare me…
@@sabotbusa12howard35 I was nervous too when I first did it! It can be pretty intimidating on some of these trails, but it gets better once you do them a few times and get used to it!
Did Gemini Bridges both ways this last Monday (8/12/2024) and LOVED it! As a noob driver it was a little sketchy at the very top, not because it was overly difficult, but I kept worrying about oncoming traffic. Luckily, I basically saw none all day. I did it forwards, then turned around and did it backwards. There were a couple places where there were much harder optional lines that I avoided, being totally alone (and a noob), but for the most part I picked the hardest line every time and the truck (more than me) breezed right through it. Found a neat little road into a box canyon I took that was actually some of the most difficult stuff technically, a deep sandy wash with steep approach angles, that I had to cross several times, it was TOTAL blast! Even did the hike to the "bridges". Thanks for the excellent video and showing me a new trail to run!
@@kx8960 That is awesome! I’m glad you really enjoyed it! It’s my favorite trail in Moab and it sounds like you found some other neat places to explore too! Thanks for watching my videos and getting the inspiration to traverse these trails too!!

Awesome!!
Thanks!! It was such an amazing experience!
sweet video!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!!
Nice footage as always! I was out there mid-April. As a driver (solo) I found it was difficult to really enjoy the views as with the new truck where I wasn't confident where the corners were, I was concentrating on just driving it. I actually found it a little more sketchy right at the top with the ruts, but that was just me being new to the truck (just 1,000mi on it). I really need to get a GoPro so that I can enjoy it AFTER the fact. Looks like you had a good run at it, no traffic coming up. I had to pull over a couple times, which was a little sketchy for me, but I was looking for that and when I saw uphill vehicles I was able to pick a good spot to pull over (in the switchbacks) and just waited for several packs (herds? LOL) of Jeeps to come up. I think I was able to enjoy the road to Potash Lakes better, because there I was able to pull over whenever I wanted to take pics. Hopefully I'll see you guys out on the trail one of these days, I plan on going back maybe in the fall.
@@kx8960 thank you!! I was in the same boat as you the first time I went. I’m glad I had the GoPro going so I could capture it and see it later because I was super concentrated putting the truck in the right spot and missed some of the scenic parts. We went early in the morning so it was nice not having to deal with the traffic! We took shafer to potash to long canyon trail. Makes for a fun route!
@@EAOffroad Yeah, I think I'll do it again, now that I know my truck better, I'm more confident in it knowing the turning radius etc. Since the Raptor is bigger I can imagine all the trails are that much narrower. Every time I wanted to sightsee I had to remind myself NOT to go where I was looking (as on a motorcycle - target fixation)! I think next time I'll stop every so often (traffic permitting) and get a pic out the window when I can. I wanted to pursue Jug Handle Trail at the end of that day, but didn't know the difficulty and was running out of daylight. That definitely is a nice route though, nice vid!
@@kx8960 2nd time around is a lot better! I went on this trail for my first time in 2020 and I was pretty nervous but that was really my first expedition ever. Doing it now was a lot better! I did chicken corners in the raptor back in 2020 too 😅 it made shafer trail look easy!

Wow, another great vid, and another great trail! As I said, being a noob I want scenic but easy/moderate trails, and these kinds of videos are PERFECT since you really can't be sure about trail "ratings", which are subjective. I'd had this one on my list, just didn't have time to do it a couple months ago when I was there, but after seeing it, I'm DEFINITELY going to do it this time, and I'll try it "backwards". I think, for me at least, this trail would be a lot less sketchy than I found Hideout Canyon to be. That was a lot narrower, and that one long shelf climb was pretty butt-clenchy for me at least. Keep up the good work, glad I subscribed last time!
I’m so glad that you liked it! Thanks for the feedback! 🙃 Gemini Bridges is a must do! You won’t regret it!

Cool video - Thanks for sharing!!! I live in NW Indiana and thought of heading over there one day.
Thank you, Glad you enjoyed it!! Totally worth going out there and it’s a really unique experience! I think these are the only dunes East of the Mississippi River that you can drive on too.
Nice! I'll have to try this next time I'm in Moab. I saw your vid about Hideout Canyon, and did that last month when I was there in my '24 Colorado ZR2. I'm new to wheeling (though I "softroaded" in my RAV4 for years), so, I did that going up from Onion Creek to the top and on a couple sections, especially that long climb, it was a little butt-clenchy to me, but the ZR2 made it like it was nothing. This looks fun and a good one to "practice" on until I get competent, so, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed the videos!! Hideout was so cool because it feels like you keep on Getting higher and higher! Bull canyon was a lot of fun but the real neat trail is surprise overlook which connects to this trail. At the end of surprise overlook trail you go up to a sand dune to the edge of the overlook! That video comes out soon!
@@EAOffroad Cool, I'll make sure to catch it! Being so new to all this, in a vehicle I'm not 100% comfortable with yet (I feel more comfortable in my RAV4 because it's so much smaller even though it's capabilities are a lot less), I just want to grow into it slowly so I don't FUBAR my new truck. I always go solo (but carry an InReach), so, there's another incentive not to do anything stoopid!
Love how the conditions change - that’s one long bridge.
I thought that was pretty neat too!

That BLM decision is total BS! It's amazing how much they are closing and plan on closing. Not only here but in Wyoming, Idaho, New Mexico...pretty much everywhere they can get their dirty hands on. I hope with a new admin voted in this November this can all be reversed. They never open these back up. Seems like laws mean nothing in the country anymore so why would we have to obey this BS
It’s really unfortunate. There are potentially more trails that are on the chopping block too. This trail was so scenic even though it was short. Traveling through a canyon was a pretty awesome experience.
