    Any reason why you didn’t use traffic control? Seems like a flagging operation would have been the safest option

    • @imageshereandthere3779
      @imageshereandthere3779 8 місяців тому

      Yes, a flagging operation would’ve definitely been safer and I would’ve appreciated having it. Unfortunately, my company did not want to go as far as to provide that for me. I don’t know if it was just because of money reasons or what. I could have gone back to my company and said that it was not safe enough for us to do, but I decided that, I would just try to get it done.

    Hey man, how are the work hours, vacation, and flexibility for land surveying jobs? I'm sick of my being on call every day and logging in at 7 till 5 sitting at my desk. And how tough on the body is it since I like being active?

    • @imageshereandthere3779
      @imageshereandthere3779 9 місяців тому

      It really depends on the company you’re working for to be honest. But here in Washington we typically seem to be getting 40 hour work weeks and companies seem to be hiring so things are good as far as that goes. As far as vacation, it’s also depends on the company, but most companies are giving at least 2 to 3 weeks. And I would say as far as wear and tear on the body, it’s not too bad until you have to go hiking through a forest that doesn’t have a trail already made for you to walk on. But it’s not a bad gig for someone who’s somewhat fit and likes the outdoors that’s for sure.

    And i aslo use reflective tape for shooting building corners; Using the prism for building corners: you will have to locoate the building corner, lock the azimuth and write down the offset from prism to building corner. For drafting, i will actually have like my occu point to bld1 azimuth direction line, then add offset to line

  • @bashysamuel5392
    @bashysamuel5392 10 місяців тому

    Yes I share the same sentiment pertaining to the levels. I use one gps level for reference and then use the Auto level, or total station to traverse around the construction site.

    Why not use the GPS and total station for this job. Much more efficient

    • @imageshereandthere3779
      @imageshereandthere3779 10 місяців тому

      We’ve got so many trees and mountains in the area that I live in that we’ve just gotten used to using our total station for that kind of stuff to be more accurate. We probably could have gotten away with using the GPS on this job. However, our east line of this property would’ve given us all kinds of problems with using GPS because of the close proximity of buildings and trees overhead. Plus, we only have one GPS unit at my company for 4 crews to share. So usually we only use it for going out and setting up our control.

    • @bashysamuel5392
      @bashysamuel5392 10 місяців тому

      Wow! Yes I understand. But I still would of use the gps in the non obstruction areas. For the topo, I'll use the gps. I work as a one man army, so I use the gps to establish geodetic controls and then use the robotic gun for more areas where am getting obstruction with the gps. Some times I don't use the robotic at all; I even set build grid lines with the gps. The south g3 gps system is really good; Even when rechecking grid lines with the robotic, discrepancy is within 5mm/0.016ft

    • @imageshereandthere3779
      @imageshereandthere3779 10 місяців тому

      Nice! When I worked in North Dakota for two years, all we did was use GPS. And then, when we construction staked hubs in the ground with the GPS, we would run over them with levels for better accurate elevations. There’s all kinds of ways to do the same thing I guess.
