How many coastal
How do you know where the 22 degree mark is when the wheel is spinning? Why did you mark 15 degrees?
Where do I purchase
Update: gave up on regritting the mdf wheel, made an 8" plywood wheel, glued on 240 grit emery sandpaper, lasting over 50 sharpening and still going without any signs of failing!!!!
Use Elmer's Glue, the regular kind for school. I do it over 3 days so each layer can dry.
I've got the razor sharp wheels, work great for about 5 knives, then need regritting. Trying different glues, anyone having grit retention problems/ fixes? Razor sharp says should be able to do 100 knives......
Love this system leaves my knifes very sharp. What kind of glue should I use to restore the oxide layer on the disc?
So basically, the marks are there to help you visualize their location, as once the wheels are spinning the marks disappear. Correct?
just getting in to this thanks for the video
almost as strong as a rock? Would they happen to be as strong as MDF? :) Seriously, is there a difference between MDF and "paper" wheels?
I just bought bought me a sheet of MDF board from Lowes I'm gonna cut me some 3 inch wheels so I can sharpen my kitchen knives.
No good. The most important part is the angle. Guessing at angles again like others do misses the whole point and the reason for inconsistency.. Need a fixed set up to hold the angle with an angle guide.
Lots of people can get a fantastic edge without an angle guide. It isn't necessary for someone that has the skills.
@@MrBowser2012 Thanks for making my point. People with skills aren't even watching this and are already doing it.. For those who seem not to be able to hold an angle and get good results consistently like myself, an angle guide would go a long way to getting a good sharp edge every time.
@@MrBowser2012 Bingo. Thanks for making my point. Skilled people aren't watching this. For those like myself who are not holding the angle and not getting results, what is needed is a fixed consistent angle so they too can get great results every time.
@@JamesComstockCages So what you meant to say is "no good for me". Wheels like this work fine with some practice.
@@MrBowser2012 Lots of variables to deal with, like the carbide powder wearing off quickly. If I was able to do this easily I wouldn't be watching videos. However, I did see a DIY guy who makes a very simple jig that holds the angle. Will build one when it warms up.

Website not working
Where do I buy the kit?
I have been on your site there are no wheels to purchase just machines
Hello, how to re-grit ? Link to a good video please ..
It would be good if you did a video on the serrated blade wheel and the other products you sell.
I think they've gone out of business. A number of places sell the paper wheels, though.
Razor sharp paper wheels are available many places. Their website still works.
5:30 I love how the captions want to remove the BIRD, FUR and BIRTH. Bahahah!
Your web address no longer works
the website is not up it seems like
Which grit that's silicon carbide ?
what part of the edge got the 19 degree angle? the cutting edge or just above it? not sure how you could go from 22 to 19 and still be on the cutting edge.
The 19 degree is for thinner blades such as straight razors
exactly
Thanks for this video we also use lether then attach paper sand. We use this in our shop ti sharpening cuticle nippers and nail cutter. 👍🏼👌😉
so website is down.. did you go broke?
I’m sure by now you have many lawsuits for not telling your audience which direction the grinder is rotating in your video it’s backwards
How much of the video did you actually watch? He goes on at length about working from the back side of the grinder, shows place the grinder on the table with the front side turned away from him, has a graphic pop up about the grinder rotation, and talks some more about the importance of having the top of the wheel rotating away from you. If you missed all of that, perhaps you should keep a safe distance from sharp objects.
Why wouldn't you put a link in your description to your web sight?
Where do I get it! Want two
one of these days we will try to purchase and review it

Great instructional video. Thanks.
This "system" looks dumb af; dangerous and inaccurate too!
It's an excellent system and not dangerous.
Never have understood the hair shaving thing. Bic razors are cheap.
Bonjour où je peux avoir cette article ?
Nice video Sir! Just subscribed to your channel. Thanks as I’m an interested in buying these wheels.
This is not DIY. thumbs down
DIY SHARPENING SYSTEM is a piece of shit company that will steal your money!
Hardly DIY, a bit like those cooking recipes that tell you to open a can of shop brought sauce.
I made my own for two dollars!
Is it DIY if you have to buy a kit? :)
@@corax2012 well you do have to open the box it arrives in yourself-
wooooow
Wow great video DIY Sharpening system ! In the video i see that your using a harbor freight 1/2 hp buffer is it better to buy the buffer or the grinder from harbor freight when using this system and why??
Budget dependent only
+ less heat
I’ve been using this wheel for about 32 years. We always had wheels coming in and down. Never made lines and angles. I and May late Grandfather, late uncle and I sharpen thousands of knives at shows that way. Always razor sharp and many repeat customers. May granddad was once the largest individual seller for Case knives. I can truly say I miss those days from I home in Alabama to Pigeon Forge, Tn Parker Brother knife shows. My point is there are other ways. Why your way is also correct, it was safer for customers to rotate in. We also had a plexiglass between the grinder and customer for safety. But I like your way vs ours with an unlocked pocket knife. Granddad had one to shut on him, wasn’t pretty. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
I think your Grandfather sharpened my buck knife at the Alaska State Fair about 25 - 30 years ago. Sharpest knife I ever had. Nice man too, showed me how to do it.
It really depends on what you are most comfortable with. One direction or back and forth gives you a nice result.
What kind of paper board are these made from? I’ve looked and looked and can’t find any compressed paper board anywhere.
I thought it’s bad if you go back and forth?
Do you sell these things? I am interested to buy one.
Jamal Harb you can buy them from his website or Amazon
@@Cloverjay555 I'd buy from Amazon, i ordered over a week ago from his website and they haven't shipped out and nobody from the company is replying to my email or phone.
Marco Polo thanks 👍, I was just about to order from this guys
I get so sick of people shaving their arm hair as if that impresses anyone. Even the paper thing does not indicate excellent sharpness.
Lol. Ok clown.
Show Cat, do you have another way to "show" or "test" a blades sharpness? Ive always use a 2x4 chop then phone book paper, and then arm hair. But I am always open to other options.
Yep so we should just send all blades to Forged in Fire for authenticity
He shaves his butt hahaha
JTB Outdoors use it to cut for purpose. Got a chefs knife? Cut chicken.
