Audio narrations will attract more attention and provide subtitles. You have great potential.
try beryllium oxide
i guess that’s just not how octaves work
Bro you gotta use the sound of beryllium… duh bruv cmon
You’re brave doing that in a glass jar, I blew myself up making homemade explosives in a glass container and had to have 37 pieces of glass extracted from me😂
I was worried about the splash, places beaker on top, then removed cause of hydrogen gas build up and removed it. It causes a fire by igniting old plastic cups I had stashed in garden.
@@highlandlab1924it’s through these sort of lessons that we learn 😂. Have a great day and stay safe
Egg seems to like sodium. Keeping it safe from oxidation. Even adding water didn't affect it.
Same thing happened with me. I even used near-boiling water (as alkaline earth metals react best to hot water) and kept it in the jar for over two days (filming the first 5 1/2 hours), the result was about the same as yours. Hopefully you were wearing some kind of facial protection when doing this, I know it's just beryllium powder that's hazardous but still always best to be on the safe side. I remember making sure to do this as others that did group 2 metals mentioned beryllium's non-reaction without demonstrating it and I felt it was important to demonstrate it even though it was boring. I'm so glad I did as now I have what's being used as the top reference source for beryllium in water.
It's solid chunks of broken/ scrap machined beryllium metal. Very pure and light. Safe to handle if you use tweezers and never touch it. It only scares me when it does dissolve in water. Low pH, even a few drops of lemon juice will get the water angry lol.
@@highlandlab1924does that produce hydrogen? Im thinking about a redneck stove top that uses hydrogen through chemistry its literally a passing thought.
Hey I have seen a patent on how to recrystalised it … mind DMing me
How
?
Dissolved on what
Right, I was looking for what exactly would dissolve it not to watch it dissolve.
I don't want to be mean but you didn't show HOW, you only showed the process. I dont know if you used acid or strong base, or sth else :)
I think it's water but there's lye Crystals inside the foil ball. Keeps the reaction concentrated around the metal but have enough water that can absorb heat.
Can you tell me what the product is? I have been searching for the answer for almost a year 😅
It's a poly sulfide. Water helps the reaction at lower temperatures but with a few hundred degrees and both being melted they react. I believe it's a long sulfur chain with Na O - bonds attached. Water allows more oxygen and some OH groups to stick to it. You can use this poly sulfide molecule to make hydrogen sulfide. Just add some HCl but hydrated aluminum chloride works better. (I have a vid of that reaction too.)
@@highlandlab1924thanks!
@@highlandlab1924yeah, i made it only with water. And the hydrogen sulfide would explain the rotten egg odor when I added vinegar...
What will happen if I touch that water?
If you mix some baking soda into the water it’ll conduct better, be safe
There is some salt in it. Not enough for anything crazy till the copper got into solution.
Cool
Ah, a fellow scientist
The word of the day is flux.
I’m trying to figure out how To get some of this, I found some that I can buy on Amazon, what do you recommend
A website called Luciteria. Add the com of course. They sell almost every element, I think thorium is back I stock but they sell a chromate salt also.
Cool. You saved at least one guy some time. Appreciate it. ~unknown artist
