GREEN EXPLOSION! // Lawn Overseed RESULTS & First Mow
COME LOOK AT THE AMAZING OVERSEED RESULTS!!!
One month ago I did a fall overseed on my lawn, and focused on the problem area in the back yard. Now it is time to see the results and do the first mow! I used 100% Turf Type Tall Fescue from GCI Turf which I highly recommend. I did not see ANY weeds come up, and I saw germination in 4 days!! I also applied a starter fertilizer with a high Phosphorous number to give my new grass babies the nutrients they need, then I applied Tenacity as pre-emergent to stop any weeds from popping up (this stuff is awesome). Links for all the products I used are below, and this helps support the channel! I watered regularly for the first 3 weeks, watering 3x/day, 10min per zone each watering for the first 2 weeks and then dialed back the watering.
Doing a fall overseed project doesn't mean you have to spend a ton of money! As with all my projects, I focused on using high quality products but I kept the cost very affordable and reasonable. This is the approach we take on all our projects and if you appreciate this type of content then please Like Comment and 🔔Subscribe!🔔 ► bit.ly/3x8TElo

Great tips where is your PPE ? I always wear long pants sweats, long shirt, rubber gloves and mask. Soon as I am finish I wash my clothes and shower! I did use the Tenacity only and Weed be Gone for spot spraying separately. The best ever results for me with less exposure to me is The Andersons 0.48% Barricade on DG Pro granule for cool season. I watched hours of videos like yours learned a lot and did the soil test. It took me 4 years as a noob to have a green weed free lawn. The lawn services are BS which I had in the passed.

I just found out about speed zone and tenacity and went ahead and bought it all and applied 1 day ago. Now I see this video and find out about Quinchlorac. I hope that is nothing I can do without for now. I am in Ohio battling spurge and crab grass and have taken on the challenge to go full in and see what happens. I will wait a week and see what happens before reapplying. I figure I will apply them separately since it's not the entire lawn that has the problem. That Spurge is a tough weed to kill. I have just had enough of the Land Art guys with their spray truck showing up and poor results. Finally had enough and went this route. I also bought a Sun Joe thatcher for good luck. I came across this horrible grass in large spots that is so thin and fine that is all matted down . Did some research and find out it must be Fine Fescue grass. If I thatch heavily I can thin it out and sow in some better grass like blue grass or tall fescue.

Was hoping to see a response here. I'm in northwest Ohio so we have similar weather and we're about to be taking on the same tasks. Did a test spot in the back corner of the yard last Friday with just the tenacity along with surfactant and die and its kicking ass. Plan to do the entire yard tomorrow in preparation of a labor day weekend overhaul. Didn't put anything at all down in the spring and the clover, dandelions, crabgrass, and others took over the yard. Newbie to the lawn game but I'm gonna make it my bitch via UA-cam lol.

@@earlsterling3410 Sounds like you're going to have great success. I'm in Sylvania and it is day 2 after I sprayed Tenacity and SpeedZone together. Some of the Spurge and other odd weeds are showing signs of dying but not the dreaded crabgrass. I'll wait another week to know for sure. I didn't use the dye marker and it was tough and ordered some for next time. I'm in too deep and looked at this dumpster fire of a lawn too long to give up.

Solid tips! Two things for me that stood out, that I haven’t seen mentioned in the seemingly hundreds of other lawn videos I’ve watched lately: 1) using a garden weasel/cultivator in bare spots to loosen soil and establish seed contact. And 2) using a chain link fence over existing grass for seed to soil contact. Genius!

Just found your channel and subscribed. I'm planning a first time ever fall overseed in my backyard so many of your videos are very helpful. Right now there are a lot of weeds that need to be killed before the overseed. Primarily crabgrass, clover and knotweed and sounds like this cocktail should take care of all of them. I'm in northern Illinois and the temps are really hot so wondering if I can spray now without harming the good grass knowing I need to do the overseed around September 1. Appreciate your thoughts and hope to see a new video soon.
