We are thinking about moving to Arkansas but I am very religious and I know Arkansas is lgbt+ friendly. I have a 14 year old daughter and am concerned about this as we already have had instances where she’s shown interest in girls and as a devout Christian I am against this however I am not against the community of lgbt I just don’t want my daughter mixed up with them sexually only friends . So how bad is it out there I hope I don’t receive hate for this but it is a concern of mine

Raised in Arkansas. Little Rock is growing but I wish they would level up their cultural entertainment game. They have weak shopping centers compared to Atlanta and Dallas but that too is changing. Park Plaza has been bought and I noticed new facelift of the building outside. The Mid-town outdoor shopping center is slow but coming along being built up. Traffic is getting on my nerves and I live in SW Little Rock. Downtown had revamped nicely in some parts and can’t wait to see other parts to be revamped (still needs new businesses there such as a movie theatre and another cool grocery store-no shade to Edward’s Giants . I agree you need a car in Little Rock and Central Arkansas. Bus transportation is okay but the expansion of bus lines to past Chenal will never happen due to wealthy west Little Rockers and their surbanian attitude. Good video though.

What I don't like about LR are those "vagrants, and marijuana seekers. They are annoying and harassing especially around public transportation. They are on the lookout.

Traffic has been like that over 25 yr the shopping has build up on Alcoa rd and Bryant , My kids went to Benton school and the system is one of the best in education

Don't move to Sherwood for multiple reasons. We recently left. We paid for private school in Little Rock, because the education system is horrendous. Just Google "Pulaski County Special School District (PCSSD)". Yes, they have several relatively new schools, but new infrastructure doesn't not equal quality education. If you have children, move to one of the surrounding towns...you can Google this for yourself.

I’ve lived in N Little Rock 10 years ago Law Enforcement are Heaven Handed Rednecks !! Lots of road blocks and there judicial system seems antiquated old south !!! Not that I’m a criminal!! But I’ve seen and heard of many injustices going on there !

A friend of mine have family in Arkansas so she usually go for visits. But what got me is she said there's a road name in little Rock spelled exact as my name "Oman Rd". I couldn't believe it first when she told me until I looked it. The reason I was stunned is because my name is very rare and that people have that name even in my tribe Anyuak. I also like Arkansas because I don't really like City Life because I grew in the Country and I'm an outdoor type of person since my young age growing up in Africa South Sudan. I'll definitely visit one of these days and if Go will, I'll move there

Conway has really grown over the years. I left the state in 1998 when I joined the military. I retired in 2020. Every time I visit I notice something new and great.

Just moved to L.R. a couple of months ago from Tucson (don't ask!). As a Southerner from Mississippi, I find the majority of the people here very friendly. You can walk up to practically anyone and they will take an interest and listen. In Tucson, you were fortunate to get a hello or a wave, just a bizarre place culturally. There certainly is crime, the vast majority of it is in bad neighborhoods. You will recognize these right away though. Rents are reasonable, often downright cheap, but you will pay for a good neighborhood. Drivers are batsh*t crazy! On their phone, elderly, very aggressive. The most aggressive I have ever seen. The hills are more like mountains, and they are everywhere. You never know what will be coming over the edge of the rise. It has a little bitty bit of a liberal feel in some areas, but the Southern Baptist Bible Belt Taliban is in full force in many areas. Those folks wouldn't know a Christian if they bit them on the butt, it's all angry self righteousness. There is a smattering of Asians and Latinos, but like most of the South it's mostly Black folks and White folks. Again, in the South the two cultures are different and people tend to segregate themselves.Haven't see even one interracial couple, which is highly unusual no matter where I have lived. The winter here has been really cold, but the weather seems to be going crazy everywhere, what w/ global warming and all. People do say Yes Sir and No Mam, couldn't be happier to hear that. It means they were brought up right and it shows respect. Walmart is Walmart, but Krogers gives people an opportunity to find some organic stuff, and the overall experience is light years away from Walmart. Worth the tiny increase in prices. I love how people speak their minds here, in Tucson they were all scared to say anything that wasn't 100% politically correct. So you never really knew what people thought, but it didn't matter. They didn't want to talk to you, they just wanted you to go away. Here, like anywhere truly Southern, you see the wingnuts immediately, so you don't have to spend eons of time just trying to figure them out. Even if they're crazy, toxic or both, they can be entertaining. Just enjoy it the show, and you don't ever have to speak to them again if you don't want to. Not a lot of really good affordable restaurants, things like Thai and Asian in general are not very good, but there's always Popeyes. All in all I am very glad to have come here sight unseen. It's really delivered on the people end of things. Not sure I will stay forever and forever, the weather is a negative, it's suicidal to ride my eBike very much, and housing prices will continue to climb.
