Very luck catch of a pair of Black Fives at Slateford viaduct.
Переглядів 4428 місяців тому
This was as lucky as it was unexpected. I had no idea these two were in town. I was cycling out to Sighthill along the canal towpath. At Slateford viaduct I got off and walked. Some folk do cycle it but I didn’t fancy an early bath in the canal. About a third of the way along I heard the unmistakable sound of a steam train and had plenty time to get the phone out. This is the only point in the ...

After almost 6 weeks travelling round the US of A we found ourselves in New York. We visited the Museum of American History, took a walking tour of Brooklyn Heights with Luis of funkyexperiences.com and climbed to the crown of the Statue of Liberty. We didn't visit Ellis Island because Frog was struggling with the crowds. On the last full day we went to a rooftop resturant and on the very last ...

We travelled to DC and visited the Smithsonian museum, the Washington and Lincoln monuments and the Spy museum. Then we travelled to Philadelphia and had a private tour of the Wannamaker Organ, the worlds ,largest playable musical instrument (whatever they may say in Atlantic City). The music is Cavaleria Rusticana which hopefully is old enough not to result in a copystrike.

A4 Sir Nigel Gresley heading back south on a day of wind and rain. This was taken from the hill behind our holiday cottage in the village of Crosby Garrett, Cumbria
Steam on a rainy day

We’re on holiday in Cumbria and as tradition dictates it’s pouring with rain. Luckily the Settle Carlisle railway line runs past the cottage so we can watch West Coast Rail’s Dalesman head past at a decent clip (it was running late).

The 27th of August was the last sailing of Waverley's summer season on the Clyde. She's down in London and the south east at the moment and will be back for a couple of days at the end of October. Having contributed to the 2022 dry dock appeal I got a tour of the boiler room and the bridge. The boilers were replaced in 2020. Waverley burns 700 litres of oil per hour (around £500). The sailing t...

We arrived back in Chicago, visited the museum of illusions and then flew to DC before taking the train to Roanoke to see Frankie who I last saw in 2002. We stayed in Floyd VA, went ziplining and Frog had a first experience of driving a tractor. Music Travel folk acoustic by Alexi Action ua-cam.com/video/Ll2j9kBGNzs/v-deo.html
American adventure part 8: The Califoria Zephyr

We travelled from Emeryville in California to Chicago Illinois aboard the California Zephyr. The journey is timetabled at 51 hours and we came in just a few hours late due to a rockfall just east of Glenwood Springs. UA-camr Jay Rock asked us to wave and shine a light as we arrived into Fort Morgan CO. Since our room was on the wrong side of the train I went up to the sightseer lounge and manag...

Well done. M
Good to see you at Carlisle today - hope you stay at langwathby was enjoyable
Good to see you too! It was a very enjoyable week and hopefully we'll do something similar next year.
A nice catch of Sir Nigel at speed.
Fantastic
As you say, a very lucky catch - but a super piece of film.
Thats bad ass FF!! Hope your doing well buddy!
Nice catch 👍🏻
Great great capture
Thanks - I was still trying to get the hang of the gimbal mount hence the slight overshoot on some of the moving shots.
!!!Excellent shot. Like me!!!
A nice clean passage unlike her smoky departure from Carlisle. However, she will be running downhill at this point so isn't really working hard. Best wishes.
Not much smoke on the return either though - you’ll have to take my word for that as I’d forgotten that these specials can and do run early and so missed videoing it!
I was on that sailing, on 27th August. It brought back so many memories of childhood holidays at Kilcreggan and the steamer trips we used to take, in the 1960s. There were 3 paddle steamers then, Waverley, Jeanie Deans (superficially her sister ship, though much older), plus Caledonia, a single funnel steamer that I never sailed on. Waverley's a lovely ship. It's wonderful to see her in such good condition and performing so well, at her advanced age.
Man thats so awesome! Those kind of trains are a treat down here, people goto events to see those and rarely running. Awesome catch's!!
Bro !! That is AWESOME!!! I would die to see that rollen through here!! Are these trains neer you ? or some kind of special event. WOW MAN!
We’re on holiday and our cottage is pretty close to a railway line that gets used for a lot of steam specials because it goes through some very pretty countryside.
WOW!! What a great shot!! To bad that bad boy didnt have any steam coming out. That was fantastic FF! I mean that train was something out of a history book. lol
Yeah quite pleased with that one - getting better at panning with the gimbal mount. I definitely couldn’t have hand held that shot!
Waverley being blessed with good weather on the South Coast. Cross fingers for the same to bring her back up for October final sailings!
Great memories! Thanks for sharing your trip with all of us!.

Great shots!! I really like how you put this video together! i felt like i was along for the ride.
Thanks - i'm sort of learning on the job! Getting some help from Frog although mostly that involves telling me that iMovie is rubbish and how I should use Kinemaster instead!
@@TheFrogfather1 Are you Fish keepers?
@@JayRockDoesStuff No, Frog just likes them!
aaaaayee !! What's up ! That was super cool seeing you. We had a great view inside your viewing car, Thats not always the case. and esp on the other cars its hard to see in them as its dark and not super lit inside from our view. I hope your run was a good one on the 6 even though you were about 3 hours behind schedule. Awesome! Till next time my friend!
That green colour is great on him and I do mean him! I know it's traditional to refer to many things as she but this locomotives name has a masculine origin and more to the point I believe that his name should be acknowledged as a tribute to Scots man Nigel Gresley. That should be official! And for the record calling him Scott has nothing to do with Thomas! He's been called Scott since he was first named!!!!
Yes, I found myself referring to it as 'she' and then realising it didn't make sense!
❤Flying Scotsman
I'm personally quite amazingly outstandingly easily certain that Sir Herbert Nigel Gresley who was basically the Chief Mechanical Engineer of the L N E R along with your own other 1920s built in Doncaster brother known as Gordon the Big L N E R class A0 pacific type of steam-driven railway tender locomotive are basically BOTH very proud of you, and especially as Tornado along with his own official builder officially simply known as Arthur Peppercorn who was basically considered to be Sir Herbert Nigel Gresley's own completely obviously official successor certainly would BASICALLY ALSO DEFINITELY be exactly 100% very proud!
Thanks for the video. Notice the police had to escort it along ( just in case it fell off the tracks or frightened the horses ) . What's with the police van ? Really as they think it's the 1830's should have large red warning flags to wave !
I'm not sure - since it was the first moving tram in around 60 years maybe they were worried people would panic. There weren't many folk other than technicians around as it was a filthy night.
